Jim's list:
http://sales.starcitygames.com//deck...p?DeckID=38847
Compered to his last list he cuted 1 Goblin Warchief and 1 MWM for 2 MMs from his mainboard and 4 Mindbreak Traps and 1 MWM for 3 Pyroblasts, 1 MM and secound TSH from his sideboard.
http://www.thecouncil.es/tcdecks/dec...118&iddeck=390
There was one notable trick he did in his games. He has cycled his Gamepalm Incinerator during upkeep, in response to Vial “you may” trigger. That allowed him to make a decision about ticking the Vial.
This deck needs more plateau.
Splash for
3 Stoneforge Mystic
1-2 Basilisk Collar
1 Umezawa's Jitte
2 Goblin Sharpshooter
Sideboard Peacekeepers
Agreed. You will want to grab as much goblins off a Ringleader as possible.
Plus, there is no way to make enough room for all those cards without dilluting the deck too much.
I will be attending a small tournament soon with the following list:
Mana:
4 Wasteland
2 Rishadan Port
4 Badlands
4 Auntie's Hovel
6 Mountain
2 Chrome Mox
The usual 26
2 Warren Weirding
1 Gempalm Incinerator
1 Stingscourger
1 Lightning Crafter
1 Goblin Tinkerer
3 Goblin Chieftain
4 Warren Instigator
Sideboard:
1 Tuk-Tuk Scrapper
4 Leyline of the Void
4 Pyrokinesis
4 Perish
2 Boartusk Liege
1. My manabase might look a little odd (did not see any lists with Hovel while skimming the thread) but I have no real issues with it. Yes, sometimes double mox is in my opening hand or people have double wasteland earlygame. But most of the time, things run smooth.
2. About my one-offs. Incinerator could become Weirding #3, but im still testing that atm.
Tinkerer got added only recently due to the rise of Mystic popularity in favor of 1 Chieftain.
Lightning Crafter has been my 61th card for as long as i play goblins, and it has won me tons of games. Sometimes i see it when i dont want to, but this rarely happens since its a 1-off. I tried playing without it but its so good against so many decks. (tribal, mystic decks, Lands, Control decks)
Also, what cards would you take out when sideboarding vs Merfolk?
if you are on the draw I would say -4 Lackey, (-2 Instigator) +4 Pyrokinesis and (+2 BT Liege.) ()=merfolk with black splash
But on the Play im not sure...
Help a fellow warchief out here :D
If you have 4 cards to bring in, I'd cut 2 Weirding (you are already bringing removal, and Weirding have a bad interaction with Mutavault) and 2 Chieftain.
Lackey is aways awesome, and is not that hard to connect.
Sure, they have Misstep for it, but if you're keeping Vial in, than the Misstep argument is moot, because there'll still be targets for it.
Also, don't cut Instigator against them. He is THE (second) best goblins against Folk, being able to trade with any Merfolk 1for1, while being a must counter too, or it will keep them on the defensive for the rest of the game, which is great for you.
About Auntie's Hovel: Please read every word on page 33 and 34 before your attend the tourney.
//EDIT: Added this advice to the deckprimer.
Is no one going to comment on Jim Davis's list? Traditional Rg with a pair of Missteps MD? He whomped on those Batterskull guys.
I want to see the videos first. Hope ggslive up them soon enough.
People that saw him live said that the Missteps were almost never good...
I think that the only reason it is in there is to fight opposing Missteps.
I do not think they are worth it...
The MD Tn-Street is nice though...
One thing that I thought weird, is that he had a Piledriver G2 on the finals, where, if I was playing the deck, they'd be all in the sb against Zoo...
I can buy that the Missteps underperformed (except the final game against Zoo). But he whomped on 'em pretty well.
Lol @ that.
Still, Tin Street Hooligan costs 0,10$ while Stoneforges are 20$ :D
He ramped those Batterskull guys because he played a full set of Gempalm Incinerator main deck, which cycling ability says: "Kill target Dark Confidant or Stoneforge Mystic on the battlefield." He didn't give a chance to the vial-effect of SFM.
I was playing a Mono Red Goblin list while i was attending a smaller Event in Nürnberg. I went 3:3 due to the lack of playtesting. I was placed 26th-ish out of 46.
I Played the usual MonoR Core (4 Waste; 3 Ports). My only non Goblin Cards were 4 Mms and 4 Vials. I played 3 Incinerator and 1 Stingscourger as removal.
The Decks i faced were;
Rock; lost
Stompy; lost
Sligh; lost
Progentius Elf; won
Rock; won
reanimator; won
If you want to play Mms in your Sideboard, you might as well play it in your Main. g2 you will most likely face 4 boarded Mms (this card was like everywhere on this event) and i dont think that Mms is too much of a downside in g1 because the common weapons vs. your Drops are cc1 and Mms is a fine protection.
just my 2cents. plz dont ban me :(
The problem that I have with MM in the main deck is that it is not a threat and it makes ringleader not as good as we have more non gobs in the deck. I have always been pretty disappointed with MM in this style of deck as I feel it doesn't really fit in this deck.
What is the actual Goblin Count you need to support a Ringleader ? i.e Drawing at least 2 Cards at avarage ? I believe that after heavey sideboarding the Amount of Nongoblins can raise above 12 and i am not comfortable with that.
Misstep was everywhere at GP Providence too (3 of the 4 decks I faced) and is prevalent in my local meta - I still don't think we need to put it in our main or our board. If combo decks want to shock themselves to stop my vials, I'm ok with that. Vial is too slow against them anyway. If aggro decks want to shock themselves to stop my Lackey, I'm ok with that too. They were just going to hit him with Swords or throw a guy in front of him anyway.
Leave the countermagic to the blue decks and focus on turning little green men sideways. The consistency will pay off more often than the Misstep will.
In some MU's that you want to bring in a lot of cards, Ringleader is not as important as in other, like against Combo.
The problem is that there are ones, like Zoo, where you may want to bring say, 6 non-goblins, and take out 6 goblins. That takes you to 26-27 goblins post-sb. That may seem low, but it is actually not that bad. Hitting 1-3 goblins with that number is what usually happens.
If you really don't want to board in non-goblins, you could try to create a SB with just a few of those. I mean, if you're playing Zoo, bring in 4 Warmarchall and 2 Stingscourger. If you're playing MUC, bring in 4 Instigators and 2 Shusher...
I hope we will eventually get something like this:
Goblin Smasher
Creature - Goblin 2/2, 1R (2)
Sacrifice Goblin Smasher: Destroy target artifact or enchantment.
Anyways, I have been playing with MWM/WI 2/2 split with a full set of Ports and it has been working out really well for me. The RR payment does not dent the curve. Also, I have been playing Magus of the Moon over Blood Moon and it is pretty life changing. The fact that I can Vial him in makes him very strong because then my opponent has to counter both Vial AND Magus. Also, I can use him to chump block if I have to. Also, I rarely SB him against red decks or decks that runs basics, so the only removal I am worried about is Dismember, which is a not an issue, and possibly Jitte. But that is why I run Goblin Tinkerer MD anyways.
Last night, I fought my buddy's MUD deck. He hard casted Sundering Titan and I vialed in Magus of the Moon. Since Mountain was the only basic land type in the field, he has to pick Mountain. Since Magus of the Moon turns all of his non-basic lands into Mountains, all of his lands are destroyed. I tapped a land in response as well and I destroyed Sundering Titan with Goblin Tinkerer. Since I had two Vials (one at 2 and the other at 3), he scooped. It was pretty funny and he got a kick out of it.
