What about the new Ayacin? it has flash and saves our Mentor from Decay or whatever.. also it soon swings for 6
Whose deck would you play it against? Sultai?
I usually play a hybrid build but I have been testing Predict for a year to no success. I have been inspired by the MTGO peeps and have moved to my current build. Constructive criticism is welcome, 20 LANDS

4 Swords to Plowshares

SIDEBOARD

Nope, it's a documented shortcut, per 4.2 of the MTR:
'A statement such as "I'm ready for combat" or "Declare attackers?" offers to keep passing priority until an opponent has priority in the beginning of combat step. Opponents are assumed to be acting then unless they specify otherwise.'
Hi everyone, I'm going to a "win a biland" tournament on saturday and need some help with my sideboard.
As I haven't had the time to test enough the predict lists some members of this forum are testing, I will be running a "stock" 4 ponder-2 mentor build.
On MTGO, my sideboard is the following:
2 Flusterstorm
1 Council's Judgement (I don't run it mainboard, feels clunky and FoW is my universal answer game 1)
2 Vendilion Clique
2 Wear//Tear
2 Rest in Peace
1 Moat (to help against eldrazi)
1 From the Ashes (never cast it yet, but I've been unimpressed with blood moon)
3 REB
1 Izzet Staticaster
However, I don't own Flusterstorms and Moat on paper. While not playing moat isn't a big deal (I have humility), I've always had trouble replacing the flusterstorms.
I'm expecting a lot of delver, some number of lands/4cloam, a few ANT players, and I think I'll see some Eldrazi (I feel a lot of people settle for the "best" deck or the latest tech in Paris, and I've seen a lot of Eldrazi at legacy FNM last week).
I was thinking of replacing the flusterstorms with Ethersworn Canonist (what I usually do in paper), but if you have better suggestions I'd be happy to hear them! I am also considering running Humility as an anti-eldrazi tech, as well as from the ashes. Has anyone tested those card and has some experience to share? I'm also wondering in which matchups I can bring them: from the ashes seems good against shardless/4c loam or lands for example.
But against wasteland decks, maybe I need a basic mountain? My paper manabase is:
4 Flooded Strand
4 Scalding Tarn
2 Arid Mesa
4 Island
2 Plains
3 Toundra
2 Volcanic
I was thinking of maybe switching a mesa or island for basic mountain (and maybe upping my red card count in the SB with maybe another red blast, a keranos etc). It seems greedy though with no red spells main deck and can lead to more mulligans
Don't you feel like Flusterstorm is one of your best cards vs Delver? :P
Also, Humility is really bad vs Endless One, I think. And personally, I prefer a mountain and volcanic to 2 volcanics because a lot of the delver decks that run 4 wastelands and stifles are where red blast shines the most, imo. If you don't need the double white for council's md and you only have 1 entreat, then why not run the mountain?
I don't like Mountain for these reasons:
1) Doesn't cast any MB spells in most lists; REB is not good enough to be played MB.
2) Forces mulligans on otherwise keepable hands if that land was a Volc.
3) Even if we are worried that the Volc will be Wastelanded, we fetch for the Volc when we need that red mana that one time to cast the one Pyroblast or Staticaster or Wear//Tear. Delver opponents will be worried about Wastelanding Tundras anyway.
4) How often will you be bringing in every single red card in your board that you need a permanent source of red? Red spells don't help us win the game. Hell, the ones we bring in won't even help break a board stall. The only red spell that has the potential to win games is Blood Moon, and that Mountain would just be a Mountain anyway, so there's no point in not casting it off of a Volc.
Anyway, here's my completed deck:

The Pblasts will be Italian soon, or (hopefully) Japanese BB if it gets reprinted in EMA.
Mountain is negative for these reasons yes, but positive for the following: Vs Bgx decks, you want a non-wastelandable red source to cast both blood moon and wear, as well as blasts against shardless because you don't always get the chance of fetching everything exactly when you need to. If we could demonic tutor for what land we want every turn, that'd be great but that's not always true.
3 Volc and 3 Tundra does create a robust manabase against wasteland however, and, in general, I believe it to be correct overall.
Mountain is usually just extremely greedy but strong in a number of matchups where you would, in fact, need a robust red source. Casting a blast off of a mountain while staring down and being able to completely play around wasteland so many times makes it having gotten the basic mountain very valuable.
I believe 3 volc to be correct in a 21 land build, I'm just a greedy bastard =P. I will advocate for mountain in a 20 land build though, because we absolutely want to maximize our basics without wanting plains 2, and 20 land builds tend to want to use their red mana post board 90% of the time.
Just my 2 cents. Also, nice deck! =D
there is so much red and mana denial in next meta that I might go the 4 Mentor/Daze route back.
Wasteland / Winter Orb / Back 2 Basics / Blood Moon / Magus / Stifle will be just in every deck.
We ourselves can play both B2B and Blood Moon.
Basics and mana free spells are just better (Daze, Extraction, FoW).
May be Bonanni's list with no blasts MD and Predict instead of DTT might be the first choice
Soooo I got Top8 of the Legacy Challenge yesterday with a kind of strange list, went 7 - 0 (well, 6 - 0 and my last opponent just checked what I played, then conceded. Pretty smart, as I noticed that you do not get the right to play after being first seed) and then proceeded to missplay heavily twice (listening to people on Skype, going against my intuition) which cost me my first match in the Top8.
Round breakdown:
R1: ANT - 2:0
R2: Elves - 2:0
R3: Burn - 2:0
R4: Junk - 2:1
R5: Reanimator - 2:1
R6: Miracles - 2:0
R7: ??? - 2:0
T8: Reanimator - 1:2
Recorded all of the matches, so I'll just have to see that I'll mute the sound (being in Skype.. also getting intoxicated which might not have helped) and cut a bit on the beginning / end to create a yt playlist. Will probably happen today? I'll see. | Playlist added below |
For starters, here's the list that performed strangely well (as you will see, I ripped stuff from the top pretty much whenever I needed it):

The basic idea is to get around the Chalice decks by cutting down ponder and simultaenously attack their mana with the maindeck already. I'd really like to get some more Predicts in there as a way to give more CA, but don't see the slots atm.
Edit:
Here's the playlist. Without commentary, I wanted to record the games, but didn't want to actually do a commentary because we were goofing around in Skype. Soooo.. take that with a grain of salt.

Spoiler:
Just from the top of my head:
Screwed up 1 Entreat when another card was on top.
Screwed up Entreat twice against the Junk guy and lucked out in the end
Not windmill slamming Rest in Peace, but going for Vendilion Clique < bad advice
MISSING the draw step, crucial to the Vendilion Clique plan < my mistake
Playing Rest in Peace before Redblast, as to eliminate Snapcaster as my out < bad advice again
I see you also went with 2 maindeck Entreats  I lost to dredge in the semis, G3 he had turn 2 Iona on white with Therapies clearing the way :frown: I believe he won the legacy challenge.
against Reaninate you switch out all the white removals.
you just don't want him to succed in reanimating something. Everything kills you. Spire of Insanity, Iona, Gin-Jitaxis, Griselbrand, Elesh Norn..
Rest in peace, Surgical Extraction, every counter you are capable of and, now, the new Thing in the Ice can really help.
Entreat was pretty much MVP all day. Sad that I didn't get matchups were Blood Moon could shine.
