Went 3-3 at local event today. Dropped the SFM's for a E. Tutor, Rector and faith's fetters.
Beat eureka/show and tell, beat merfolk, lost to u/g 12 post, lost to american delver, beat worldgorger reanimate, lost to mono g 12 post.
12 post is a terrible matchup, dont worry.
Twelve post is not worth the slots needle and some well placed discard is your only hope you just have to suck that one up.
I'm considering switching from junk / rock to the nic fit version as this seems to be more my style of play and the cost for the transition is practically nothing for me. There are a few cards I'm not sure if they were mentioned that interested me. Let me know of their playability from experience or just opinion.
Painful Quandry
Crucible of worlds
Batterskull
Reanimate
Experimenting is always cool with NicFit. Personally i have more fun with NicFit decks then their non NicFit counterparts (eg Jund, the Rock, BUG Control).
My oppinion:
Painful Quandry - the decks it matters most are probably to fast (or dont care) for this card. The fact that they can choose is a bad mode. They could cast 5 spells and kill you anyway (although narrow). Omnishow and Sneak only need a few spells. Also Nether Void might be a better option.
Crucible of worlds - Not sure about this card, Life from the Loam is another option to. Personally i think it is to cute and clunky. You would have to build a solid engine around it. Also to be wateland proof NicFit runs 6 basics so it doesnt really matter.
Batterskull - wins on its own. Very strong vs burn and delver decks (and whatnot), but now that Siege Rhino has kicked Stoneforge out of the mainstream lists i dont think you want a non zenithable "creature". Thragtusk, Sigarda and Titania are there too.
Reanimate - might be fun to steal a random Griselbrand or whatever. But NicFit has better option when it comes to self recurring. Recurring Nightmare or Volrath's Stronghold. The thing with NicFit is you can play EDH style, but best consistancy is gained when you are not screwing around and focus on your main plan.
Hope it helps.
Forgot about recurring nightmare, somehow... thanks very much and I agree with you about nether void.
I'm actually going to post this here as well; I'm involved in an informal Legacy tournament on XMage and I'm playing Junk Nic Fit! If you want to watch me fumble through an entire tournament full of janky builds, here you go!
Round 1: 1-2 vs. Tezzerator (video incoming)
Round 2: 2-1 vs. Pox (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbBt4rQFnfM)
Round 3: 2-1 vs. Artificier Combo (no video, the deck uses Helm of Awakening + SDT + Altar of the Brood to infinite combo out, with a plan B of Salvage Titan beatdowns)
Round 4: Coming up this week vs. Soldiers
All comments are welcome, I'm still pretty new at the deck. I know in that round 2 video I should have been actively grabbing Explorers to let die to Tabernacle and get Sigarda online as quickly as possible.
Likely around 8pm PST tonight I'll be running some "streaming" aka. I'll be playing Cockatrice and allow spectators. Best I can do under the current circumstances.
-Matt
T-minus an hour. Look for "Legacy Everyday Eternal Stream" by Sdematt on Cockatrice.
-Matt
You'll actually have to log into Cockatrice and be a spectator since I can't get Twitch going at the moment. I'm technologically slow.
I'll be playing this:
4 Veteran Explorer
4 Siege Rhino
3 Sensei's Divining Top
4 Green Sun's Zenith
1 Sigarda, Host of Herons
1 Thrun, the Last Troll
4 Cabal Therapy
4 Abrupt Decay
3 Forest
3 Swamp
2 Plains
2 Windswept Heath
4 Verdant Catacombs
2 Savannah
2 Bayou
1 Scrubland
1 Karakas
1 Phyrexian Tower
1 Recurring Nightmare
1 Eternal Witness
3 Pernicious Deed
1 Thragtusk
3 Path to Exile
1 Scavenging Ooze
1 Volrath's Stronghold
1 Maelstrom Pulse
1 Deathrite Shaman
1 Marsh Flats
1 Diabolic Intent
SB: 2 Gaddock Teeg
SB: 2 Toxic Deluge
SB: 4 Thoughtseize
SB: 3 Carpet of Flowers
SB: 2 Surgical Extraction
SB: 1 Krosan Grip
SB: 1 Cranial Extraction
Is there a good way to at least stream voice?
-Matt
Use Rhino to get through Chasm locks, and Thrun/Sigarda to get through Maze.
I played this tonight at a LGS (Friendly Troll). 4 rounds, 3-1 or better makes money... well, store credit.
R1: Brian with BURG delver. 2-0
R2: Kevin with Reanimator. 0-2
R3: Anthony with Tezzerator. 2-0
R4: Kolt with BUG Delver. 0-2 (he conceded since he was 3-0 already)
About right. Kevin went turn 1 discard, turn 2 exhume both games after winning the die roll. G2 i went first turn top, he went Careful Study discarding Griselbrand. Second turn cabal therapy naming exhume, but he had 2 Reanimates too. I flipped top hoping for another Therapy, or one of my 4 Explorers, 4 GSZ, 1 Shaman (so 12 outs out of 51 cards). Didn't get there.
The difference between the delvers was that Kolt had a low curve, had a turn 1 delver, and just wasted, stifled, pierced and dazed everything. I was always 1 land short of getting back in the game.
Tezz seems like a fairly easy matchup. It's slow and grindy, and we just do it better.
But this was my first time running this pile (Caleb Durward's last BG list from CFB videos).
Meh. Could have gone better.
Yeah, you coyldve run Junk :p
I might next time. :)
