Bluffing a different deck really wouldn't win a tournament. By the time you get further into the tourny, everyone knows your "tech."
A reason transformational sideboards don't work that well.
He's referring to bluffing specific plays, to force your opponent to act in a certain way. Not deceive them about what you are playing. I'm pretty sure Ichorid is the only deck using Golgari-Grave Troll to any sort of success.
Hes probably playing a Trop because hes awful, or maybe he cant get his hands on another Sea? I saw the same thing back in Extended season, some guy who top8ed a PTQ with Dredge had 1 random Breeding Pool in his decklist but no green cards MD/SB (other than GGT of course). This type of action is just pointless and there is no excuse for it, there is zero reward and some potential for it to color screw you.
Please don't tell me you're actually boarding Leylines against Threshold.Quote:

I do not play Threshold myself, and have never played with a deck solely depending on the grave, so I didn't know :) But thanks anyway. I can figure out the best card(s) now, I think... :P
Nihil is completely right, Crypthate is the only thing that makes sense (if they don't play Leyline, duh). Threshold does not really rely on Threshold any more, and you will make their Goyf bigg enough.
Leyline is in the sideboard to
a) deal with the mirror
b) deal with heavily grave-dependand decks like Breakfast
c) deal with decks which have sac-outlets to remove your bridges, e.g. Mogg Fanatic.
The last option however seemed pointless in my testing, I did never need Leyline against those :).
Well yeah, that was my other reasoning for concluding hes awful, his whole list was terrible.
And about Leyline...you dont board it in against Threshold, you just dont need it and it does nothing anyways when Goyf is a 6/7 just off your yard. Hell its probably worse to have it b/c it makes Goose always a 1/1, meaning it can chump and die to blocking a zombie token, removing bridges. Leyline is for the mirror, breakfast, and decks like goblins with sac-outlets if you feel so inclined to SB it then.
I decided to mess around with my list a bit this Friday. This is what I ran:
Creatures: 26
1 Cephalid Sage
1 Flame-kin Zealot
2 Bogardan Hellkite
3 Putrid Imp
3 Golgari Thug
4 Narcomoeba
4 Stinkweed Imp
4 Ichorid
4 Golgari Grave-Troll
Spells: 16
2 Deep Analysis
3 Careful Study
3 Dread Return
4 Cabal Therapy
4 Breakthrough
Enchantments: 4
4 Bridge from Bellow
Artifacts: 4
4 Lion's Eye Diamond
Land: 10
3 City of Brass
3 Cephalid Coliseum
4 Gemstone Mine
Sideboard: 15
1 Dragon Breath
1 Blazing Archon
2 Ray of Revelation
3 Pithing Needle
4 Chalice of the Void
4 Chain of Vapor
It was a small turnout this week (14 players) so it was only 4 rounds.
Round 1: ? Playing u/b discard
Game 1: I combo of second turn for 30 damage.
Game 2:Ouch dredge gets me no dredgers , but I manage to get a Narcomoeba, 2 ichorids and a Bogardan Hellkite in the grave. I attack with the Ichorids sac them gaining no tokens (no bridges) to dread return a hellkite for an extra 5 damage and win next turn.
1-0 (games 2-0)
Round 2: Jerry playing Belcher
Game 1: He wrecks me game 1
Game 2: I dredge and therapy him 3 times on my second turn.
Game 3: We decide to just ID
1-0-1 (games 3-0)
Round 3: Ben playing u/w fish
Game 1: I get to dredge and he cant do much to control me as I strip away the right cards with therapies and beat with tokens and a Hellkite
Game 2: I think he could have won this game if he would have forced my Deep Analysis flash back. I slowly combo off for the win. Ichorids are teh bomb!
2-0-1 (games 5-0)
Round 4: Rodgon666 playing u/b reanimator
Game 1: I see absolutly nothing with dredge. We have a pretty good game but he gets me down to 2 and has a SSS and a putrid imp in play versus my 1 Narcomoeba. Oh yeah also I only got 1 Cabal Therapy wich I correctly used to strip away 2 brainstorms in his hand leaving him with only 1 card (a land) Also I have to mention that I did get one of my own Hellkite in play bringing the game very close in my favor. I just ran out of steam :(
Game 2: I mull down to 5 and get pwnt by Extripate nabbing Stinkweed in response to my breakthrough and Extripate grabbing Bridges. I then get murdered by 2 Hellkite. (not my own mind you)
2-1-1 (games 5-2)
I still got 10 credit so I was ok with losing to Rod (even though we had played 2 games earlier and I had wrecked him :P) I have to say that Hellkite is very attractive to me in this deck. I need to test this version out more as I saw no real drawback or slowing down of the deck. Just unlucky draws and dredges.
How was the 10-land build? Is this accepted to be ok? I haven't tested, but it seems that -1 Gemstone Mine +1 Cephalid Coliseum would be the ideal situation, possibly even this:
4x City of Brass
4x Cephalid Coliseum
2x Gemstone Mine
I'm a big fan of Coliseum for the cantrip effect, as it's OFTEN useful.
I can't decide on an alternate creature to reanimate, I'm between Sundering Titan and Blazing Archon. One is major stoppage of critters, but Titan rapes manabases, which can be amazing on your control matchups (landstill, Survival builds, 4-c Thresh, even ok against 3-c Thresh, not that you would board it in against thresh unless it's 4-c, and that's begging for it; cool effex ftw). Which is best to take into an unknown meta? I am sure the answer is Archon, just wanting to make sure.
Pce,
--DC
Against aggro, I'd use Ancestor's Chosen. It might have no evasion and it's smaller, but it really rapes aggro by giving you approx. six timewalks. Archon does little against aggro. Most aggro does also play removal, so you can possible hold back attacks a couple of turns, but when they find Shriekmaw/Double lightning bolt/STP, you're done as just one alpha strike should kill you since you've possibly flashbacked DA, mana burned from LED etc.
Conclusion: Ancestor's Chosen > Blazing Archon
But in the end, Ancestor's Chosen belong in the SB. As an alternative creature in the MD, I'd use Woodfall Primus so you have an out against Deed, Propaganda etc.
[CARD]Ancestor's Chosen[/CARD]
card tags ftw...
I just played ichorid at the Hadley tourney and i did not do well. I went 2/3/0 loosing to zoo, affinity and goblins. I won against some type of land destruction deck and dreadstill. The meta was rampant with aggro, and I did not see many thres players at all. also my hands were horrible. will post my decklist tonight.
I am thinking I would have done better if I had Ancestor's Chosen against the zoo matchup.
So, what gets sideboarded out for the goblins matchup? Getting rid of the d. return pack doesn't sound good. Siding in 4 needle and 4 leyline... right?
Something like:
+1 Chosen if you run it
+4 Leyline
+4 Needle
-1 FKZ
-1 Cephalid Sage
-2 Careful Study
-2 Deep Analysis
And then shave cards.
I've been wanting to run Dakmor Salvage for quite some time. Often, I'll pitch my hand to a t1 Breakthrough or LED, and I'd like to be able to get to 2 mana for Thugs and Analyses. Thoughts?
is the list used at the beginning of the thread still viable?
