It's all about supply and demand. Really who cares about BB prices on old stuff? Yeah it's pretty, but in the end if you play the game a scratched up Revised dual still does the same job that a pack fresh Alpha dual does. The only time the price on that kind of stuff really matters is if you are a collector, and at that point you don't really have much room to complain. I mean that's the whole thing about being a collector, whether it's Magic cards or antiques or 80's GI Joes mint in box being a collector means you have to spend the ca$h or dig through a million piles of crap and hope you hit the jackpot some day. Same thing applies to pimping out your deck. No one really has room to complain because at the end of the day you are trying to get at that hard to find collectible stuff when the everyday version is functionally the exact same thing.

Can't be sure about FBB, but 800 is a good price for a decent condition Sea. Mint will run you 1200-1400, NM probably 900-1100.

Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
NM FBB Seas, depending on language, could be obtained for $325-$350 about a month ago, although I got a little better deal on mine (NM- for about $280). Since I am not in the market for them anymore, I haven't checked since then.

What's the going rate on sealed Beta starter decks?

Assuming Alpha charges a 20% premium on Beta, so a reasonable price of 1000 Euro for Beta start puts it at about 1400$. Thanks for that info!

Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
Here's a question, I have a NM Moat (English) from Legends that I can offload right now for $175, should I sell? Does anyone see the card going up further in price in the future? I have a feeling that SCG selling it for $300 is the ceiling for the card and I'm not sure if it would go up any more.
Thoughts?

Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
175 is low for NM. 225-250 is the going rate.

Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
First off I love the that the first post in the thread was complaining about force breaking 35$ and Wasteland breaking 20$.
Second off has legacy hit a local plateau? Using blacklotusproject it seems the price on all the duals as well as force and wasteland is dropping off a little bit. Is this due to the grand prix being over, the possibility of modern threatening legacy or has supply caught up with demand? (at least temporarily).

Dual lands are still going up in my opinion, just the pace has slowed.

Well centered = higher value
Miscut = higher value
Magic collectors = crazy
-
Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
A) Off centre= all border widths are not equal, but another card is not seen.
B) Miscut= all border not equal, another card can be seen in some fashion.
Usually only B is worth more money.
-Matt
-
Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
Miscut=at least 2 borders not equal in the sense that 1 side may not have a border at all (due to miscut), not necessarily all borders are not equal

Speaking of BlackLotusProject, does anybody know where they get their prices? They claim that Revised Seas are going for $95 but SCG isn't even even selling MP Seas at that price (they're going for $110).

Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
What I said was correct. All 4 borders aren't equal when 2 are unequal, but I see where the confusion lies.
Basically, if any one of the two dimensions is off, it's an off centre unless a border is absent.

That's the main problem with price sites that scrape Ebay. They not only count the NM seas that sold for 110ish they also count the one bent in 3 peices that sold at a fraction and the guy who doesn't know how to price items that sold a playset @ $300 and the ones that someone painted stripes on the borders so they can find it in their EDH deck or w/e (On a side note, Dear whoever started that trend, Fuck You. ~Signed Everyone else).

Why is Exploration still at $25? Also what the hell happened to Crucible of Worlds?

Unfortunately, like Legacy, EDH a budget format that everyone can play.
I guess we better start buying Modern 'staples'

As someone who only plays EDH at this point, I feel the same way about Legacy.

And yet, here you are on the Legacy forums. Go Figure.
Also if you're interested I have a totally pimp foil altered-art Vaevictis Asmadi that I'd be willing to sell you for just $50. Pretty sweet deal since you only need one right?
Edit: Oh shit someone else wants it for their EDH deck. Price is now $200.

I used to play Legacy, and I actually like a lot of the posters, and find the format sometimes interesting to read about.
As for your Vaevectis, I don't like alters. Thanks, though; you're a prince.

Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
You sure? He has laser-shooting penises coming out of his eyeballs, and the border is painted gold as shit.
-
Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
Gilded filigree pierced borders with embossed mana symbols bitches.
-
Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
I don't have the card or a scanner at work, but here is a quick mockup. Note that it is extremely more awesome than this in real life.

This thread is now about laser-shooting eye-dicks.
-
Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
And the rising price thereof. I just checked apathyhouse and my super awesome Asmadi is now valued at $16,000.
-
Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
It must be super cool for Apathy House to list it.
I changed my mind, but I can't go a penny over $15,999.

LOL, you realize that "price" is based 100% off ChannelFireball "selling" the card at $50 and nothing else right?
-
Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
Wow! I think I have about six of those. Why on earth are they fifty dollars of important in EDH?

They aren't, they are $50 of markup @ ChannelFireball. Actual value ~$20-$26

They're terrible in EDH. People are banking on them going up because it's a rarer version of Last Chance for that silly "end the turn" artifact + final fortune deck.

Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
starcity has a chinese one for 19.99, well at least about an hour ago they did.
I looked at the completed auctions and the highest was 98 for 4, which is 97 more than I would pay :)
Sure its P3K, so should be more than what I would buy them for obviously, but I couldn't see myself paying around 25 each for them.
Yep, just checked at 11:35 pm EST and its still there!! Everyone hurry up and buy it!

Heck, some idiots payed $10 on Last Chance when they could have gone, you know, anywhere else and paid $3 or $4.
Off topic, but I posted my review of M12 on MOTL, since I was tired of reading these people saying how Lavamacer will become a $10 card because he was reprinted and other bullshit:
