I don't understand where you're getting $200-250. A quick look on Ebay showed me two completed auctions, one for $122 and one for $138. In addition, there is currently a buy it now/best offer for $165.

There have been multiples on eBay posted for around 200. I know on MOTL there are a few sellers with them posted at 200. KMZAndrew has a signed one on eBay for 250. I also know from SCG that they have let 1 or 2 go for around 180 in the past 6 months. I don't necessarly agree with the price spike but I'll also tell you I dropped 200 on a pack fresh Tolarian Academy a few months ago and I felt it was more than fair.
You have to take into account card condition also; when I talk prices I'm talking Mint Korean - straight out of the booster pack.
The hardest thing with Korean cards is finding them in collector worthy condition. The language is out of print, the print runs were small, and the game failed in Korea. Many people considered the language worthless for a long time and as such treated the cards in a less than stellar way. The two on eBay you are talking about look like trash IMHO and as such would be posted for lower prices.

Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
I know I trashed my fair share of those. I don't like foreign cards so I tended to toss them around pretty badly. It was a general practice for local tournament organizers not to allow them back then since it brought up problems with rules questions when you couldn't read the card to know what it was. (no online magic sites to look it up). So they just outright banned them to prevent disputes. This caused a ton to go in the trash or turn into my personal favorite, Magic card airplane wars.

Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
So a set of Korean StPs is now selling for more than Beta and Alpha? That's retarded.

Yeah I just noticed that. Yesterday I was looking on ebay for some pimp cards for my UWx Landstill and I'm quite happy that Beta StP costs less than FBB Kor, because I just want all my deck in plain english foil or Beta ;-)
And even Jap/Chi ones are going for 25$ each, while a nice condition Beta is 30$. Ridicolous.
Lol even Italian FBB is going for 16$!

Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
My question is, which is rarer? Korean STP or Beta STP? In terms of print runs.

It's not all about print runs... If Korean packs were only opened in Korea, what would it take for cards to make their way over to the US? Hint: A lot.

Korean packs were opened in the US. A store near my house had booster boxes of Korean Stronghold 4-5 years ago.

Korean 4th Boxes were available in Brazil too. LGS had packs for $5 or $6 many years ago. If it made it to Brazil, it sure as hell made its way to the USA.
Print run wise, there is a lot, and I mean a LOT more FBB 4th than Alpha / Beta.

My bad, guys. I assumed it was more like P3K where most of it was opened on the other side of the pacific.

Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
Considering the rising interest in EDH, would you invest 39 EUR a.k.a. 53 USD in a box of Guildpact just for Painlands and Niv Mizzets? It could be interesting for LotV and Shattering Spree, too. What do you think?
(Here Painlands go for 4-6 EUR each, Niv Mizzet goes for 6,GP LotV about 6, and Shattering about 2,5 EUR. I'd be interested to crack foils of these though.)

Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
how many shocklands would you get in a box - 3?
dissension would be a better box, but i guess it's more expensive

Yeah, if you are looking to level up from opening a box you might as well just go play some blackjack which I think would give you better odds of doubling up.

Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
What is the rough price for Korean Intuition and Oath these days? I see ranges from $40-80 for Intuition and $20-40 for Oath. Such a big range.
Also, is 4E Korean > 5E Korean > non 4E/5E for the same printings? e.g. Dark Ritual, Counterspell etc.

I guess 50-55$ for Intuition, 80$ is definitely too much. Idk about Oath.
For 50$ or less I'd get the foil DCI though. I like it a lot.

Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
I just bought a playset of korean oaths, 2 for 38 in auction and 2 at 25 each BIN (troll and toad has the jude foil for 18.99 so you can still get jude foils for less). Korean 5th is crazy expensive, a playset of brainstorms went for $135 and a play set of dark rituals for $128. Korean 4th isn't as hard to find.

Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
Oaths are $15-20 and Intuitions are around $30 last I checked.
-
Re: Raise, raise, raise. The price of cardboard
Max 30.00 on Oath of Druids and 35.00-40.00 on Intuition - Pack Fresh condition only.
Take note a lot of the prices for Korean cards on eBay are blown out of proportion due to sheer stupidity/the ridiculous amount of charges Paypal and eBay drop on sellers now.
