I am trying no Volcanics, basic Mountain only for the red splash. It has been very doable thus far with only four Tarns and a Mesa. Just as the impermanence of the deck is one of its strongest traits g1, trumping Wasteland when we're often keeping land-light hands to cantrip out of is crucial. I'm only playing two Tundra for that reason as well. The deck can perform pretty much 100% without Tundras; you frequently need them in a pinch, but ideally you're fetching basics the whole game.
Mzfroste, I took your list through a league just now and went 5-0. Feels really good, I didn't cast Pyroblast much though. I played vs 4c Control and only cast one of them, while nice I'm still not convinced it's necessary yet.
Mixed feelings on the md Mentors too. Couple of times they were really good G1, but they also made opponents removal spells live. It made me then use countermagic to protect it, which is possibly a mistake, but those cards are otherwise dead.
Also played my UW list to 4-1, losing the last round to Aluren. This is a matchup where Blasts would definitely help!
Glad to hear. With Mentor its really just a matter of judging the matchup, as well as opportunity cost with playing it. I think there are enough matchups across the board that mentors adds 5% or so against that makes it worth it, that it nets you more wins over a large tournament than something like ETA and Clique. But thats more of a game theory discussion than a Miracles discussion.
It's actually the same with with Pyroblast. Whether or not our worst matchups are 4c grindy midrange decks or Burn / Aggro loam, the main reason I like running Pyroblast is the "net wins" you get over a large sample of games. And I actually like the Aggro loam matchup. I group under the grindy midrange umbrella, along with the other janky blue punishing fire decks popping up, which basically come down to a gameplan of "surgical punishing fire, win with Mentor / Jace / Predicts", to over simplify it.
Pre ban, the meta was so BUG heavy, that ETA was just the right call from a meta call perspective, especially online focused. But over a 15 round GP, you're going to make a wide range of decks no matter the actual meta. Thats why I like cards like Mentor and Blast.
Hey everyone, was planning to grind the new miracles deck this weekend through a relatively sized tournament and I'm currently working on my sideboard. With all the discussions on canonist, just wanted to ask your opinion on meddling mage. Our metagame is full of show and tell, reanimator, and storm combo with some constant representation from grixis delver, big eldrazi and then some random infect and burn players. Was playing 4 mage on my predict lists pre banning and had very good results with them especially vs eldrazi and I was planning to play them over meddling mage due their versatility across the board, naming relevant cards that are hard to manage.
Any thoughts on mage?

Feel like we already are well equipped to deal with their threats without REB in that matchup honestly.
The Lord is right, don't bring in Blasts vs Delver, we have plenty of removal and countermagic already.
Went 4-3 today. Lost to Eldrazi, Storm (I never drew a third land or a cantrip g2, was miserable), and Lands, where I played horribly against Jarvis Yu in what seems like a terrible matchup. I did beat Grixis Delver twice (2-0, 2-1), Jund (with Punishing Fire, 2-1) and 4c Loam (2-1). I was very pleased with Entreat as my win condition, and significantly less pleased with MD Clique. There are definitely some rough spots to work out with both the list and my play, though I'm left without a clear answer to whether or not this is better than Stoneblade.
Hi dudes, just finish my Ovino tournament with 5-2 with my esper mentor mirscle...not so good. But it was useful for find out some considerations.
As all know Portent is not Top. That means that cards like terminus might not works as well as before, even more since we are playing predict and draw terminus when we can't cast it (it cost me a game).
We are much more mana intesive/not efficiently than before, because with top we were able to spend mana during the opponent eot. So what is the point? i think that We should go up to mana and maybe cut terminus+few portent and be less mana greedy. We can't waste cantrips for find mana beacuse than we can't find answers...those are my thoughts!
And obv add sweeper as virdict or EE

At this point, IMHO, what keeps the deck playable is the power level of Predict. Otherwise, we would just fold to topdeck wars or things like Hymn or pointed discard.
Dedicated Snapcaster control without Predict would just turn out to be a worst Czec pile. We need a way to get ahead, others are trying Standstill and FoF..
But to play Predict consistently we need to have a bunch of cantrips. Portent happens to combine perfectly with Predict but also with Miracle mechanic.
The problem I had after Top ban was leveraging damage loss.. Supreme and EE are great but not efficient enough to combat aggressive decks like Grixis Delver.
Missing 1land drop or getting wastelanded 1turn mean we are wrathing at T5, which is not good enough.
Nothing compares to Terminus when comes to efficiency. Playing 1 mana sweeper means we can can also spend mana planning the following turns, which is huge game.
Maximizing Predict and at the same time keeping pace with the card Terminus is the way to go in my opinion.
By the way, great job you guys have made in keeping Miracles alive. Thank you!
I truly believe we are getting close to a Tier 1 strategy.
Hey all. I dropped at 3-2 at the power event Saturday since there were no prizes for top 16 and my ride was leaving. Beat the mirror, storm, and Noble BUG. Lost to Grixis Delver and the "mirror". My opponent (Gerard Fabiano) in the 2nd mirror was on Mind Stone, Mishra's Bauble, Detention Sphere, EE, Nahiri and Emrakul Promised End. He definitely ran Predicts, but not sure about Terminus. Bauble seemed to have replaced Portent. It was very rough. I won G1, G2 Emrakul won it for him and game 3 he hit more Snaps/Predicts than I did and ground me away. Seemed like an interesting version of control and just figured I'd let you guys think about that.
I agree with all of this completely, Terminus and Predict are what make the deck great. EE and Verdict have felt just 'OK' in testing, Terminus is straight up busted, I'm back to playing at least 3 again.Quote:

Can you post a list for reference as I'm really interested in your take. Last week I was trying some sort of esper list (just for cabal, toughtseize and some SB cards) as the interaction of predict milling cabal is okeyish interaction and mentor+cabal is obv good. I even tried a couple lim dul vault+ baby jaces as they allow you to tutor for anything and also cast miracles at istant speed but I don't know if it is too cute as an interaction.Quote:

I agree that Terminus (and to a lesser extent, Predict) are the main attractions to playing Miracles in the current meta. Yesterday was my first real outing with the deck, and I was reliably impressed by Entreat. I actually won game 1 against 2 of the 3 Punishing Fire decks I faced simply by setting up the one-card combo kill once the board was stable. I'm not sure how to go about building a better Entreat deck, but small midgame Entreats (2-3 angels) even did serious work against Delver and Eldrazi.Quote:
