Re: [Deck] Berserk Stompy
I'm thinking about the SB for the deck, as I've learnt from playing Aggro decks in general
Against Storm Combo, combo, counter spell decks what can we SB
Well we have Viridian Zealots and Krosan Grips v artifacts and enchantments.
Crypts/Relics or Leyline of the void v Graveyard
Chalice of the Void, Mindbreak Trap v Storm Combo
Vexing Shusher, Seeds of Innocence are useful as well
So from these my current SB looks like
Crypt x2
relic of progenitus x2
vexing shusher x4
viridian zealot x4
Krosan Grip x3
So what do you all use in SB to support the creatures and pumps we run in Berserk stompy?

4 rushwood legate
1 gaea's blessing
3 tormod's crypt
PLAN B
3 rushwood legate
3 tormod's crypt
4 mindbreak trap
2 fog
3 seeds of innocence
PLAN C
3 vexing susher
3 mindbreak trap
2 tormod's crypt
1 faerie macabre
2 fog
2 wrap in vigor
2 ranger's guile

Paeng, I've seen your SB lists with Fog more than once, what do you use it for?
Re: [Deck] Berserk Stompy
Fog is there for their creatures regardless of whatever type of deck I am facing.
dredge (3 GY hate and 2 fog)
U decks aggro (rushwood legates and fog)
gobs (fog)
mavs (fog and guile)
MUD aggro (seeds and fog)
I'm just a big fan of fog. Also, fog saved my ass many times already.

Congratulation on getting into the top 100. Care to tell us more about how your games went? What decks did you beat, what did you lose too? How useful were the Red Blasts and the Swords?
Re: [Deck] Berserk Stompy
Thanks ;)
I beat lot of Tempo Zoo, but i don't remember the other :s
STP is very nice with Kavu Predator, and REB is good to protect vs spell pierce, submerge... and kill jace :)

Re: [Deck] Berserk Stompy
No interaction for the past weeks. I'll just put it here, over the weekend we went to a shop located at Molino, Cavite, further south of where we usually play. Unfortunately, because of the heavy rain that we had the night before, only 13 players showed up. So we only had it 4rds and cut to T4 semis to determine who will get the bye for Duel for Duals (Aug 26, BCI Makati).
I lost to my 1st RD in 3 games vs. Nic fit. If is wasn't for his timely pernicious deeds, i should have won that one. :-)
Then I won my next 3 RDs. I face UW control (2-0), then elves (2-0), and finally UR stiflenaught (2-0).
Lost to sneakyshow in 3 games. I almost have our 3rd game but his wipeaway saved him from the claw of a 36/x trample creature.
^_^
here's the list that i used
9 forest
1 arbor dryad
7 G_fetches
4 jungle lion
4 skarggan pit skulk
4 nettle sentinel
1 scryb sprites
1 tarmogoyf
2 strangleroot geist
4 kavu predator
4 silhana ledgewalker
4 berserk
4 rancor
4 invigorate
4 might of old krosa
3 seal of strength
SB
4 mindbreak trap
4 tormod's crypt
4 rushwood legate
3 seeds of innocence
Re: [Deck] Berserk Stompy
Probably not enough to revive this deck up to current power level of the format, where other decks combo out before us with endless better protection than our raw "if everything fails, we can be an aggro deck", but this card is just incredibly good in our mono green deck:
http://media.wizards.com/images/magi...hqpt6ek_en.jpg
This deck can simply go 16 creatures that are 2/x for :g: + 4 Silhana, with the added bonus of this card helping against combo.
Re: [Deck] Berserk Stompy
It also helps out against Life from the Loam. Fuck you, lands :)

It has a lot of unusual benefits. Fighting Loam, Dredge, PiF combo and Snapcaster are the ones I can think of, but being a 2/1 for :g: that can block while still having these benefit is why this card is so good. Probably second only to Silhana.
Anyone knows if a lightning bolt hits her, the bolt goes to grave or to exile?
Re: [Deck] Berserk Stompy
I will go to Exile, because the Dryad won't die to the lightningbolt, but due to being dealt more then lethal damage after the bolt has resolved.
Re: [Deck] Berserk Stompy
So Gui, are you thinking of dropping the Kavus then?
Re: [Deck] Berserk Stompy
I'm going to take a break from what we are used to, and let me post the brew that I am currently working on. Here's the list
15 forest
4 torpor orb
3 phyrexian dreadnaught
3 dryad militant
4 elvish spirit guide
4 llanowar elves
4 quirion ranger
4 rogue elephant
3 harvest wurm
3 scryb ranger
2 worldly tutor or 2 sylvan library
4 berserk
4 invigorate
4 seal of strength or vines of vastwood
Uhmmm... I'm still on the drawing board.
Basically I'm trying to abuse torpor in our deck.
Torpor can also be a good MD defensive card as against opponent's "comes into play" creatures.

I've dropped them a long time ago in my lists. While a MVP back in the day, 2/2 for :1::g: is just too high cost/efficiency, and he'll be that whenever you don't have a Invigorate. Invigorate, on the other hand, is good on its own.
2/1 for :g: already better, let go the gravehate clause
LOL, paeng4983 is so innovative. xD

I can attest to this as well. Kavu quickly went from a 4 of down down down for me in play. The only time I've found him to be a real power play was against like... random junk decks.
I personally feel like Geist has a good spot, but that's coming from someone who's looking into running G/u berserk because the main list folds really hard.
Re: [Deck] Berserk Stompy
Has anyone done any testing with Vault Skirge? I played with it as 3x a while ago and have to admit I kinda liked it. Just remembered this when read about ditching Kavus all together. Thou played with Kavus that time... which seemed to be the tits to topdeck against resolved Wurmcoil
I think Skirge has some merits to be considered; being non-green so it won't be sweeped with perish and such and being cc2 it also escapes Chalice of the Void@1. And at least once during my testing lifelink (with Rancor) turned out to be relevant and this happened vs. ANT which is my nemesis when playing with this deck.
How about Strangleroot, any love for it? Haven't done any testing with but it seems to fit into fast-dudes-and-pumps-plan like a glove, also having 2 to 1 possibility which this deck otherwise lacks.
Third, How about Dismember? While not being the most traditional choice for this deck, still every once in a while I find my self being stalled with one fattie with no true outs. In such situations Dismember would actually be dealing lots more damage than any pump spell in this deck.
Just some food for thought. I'm so excited about new Dryad! This will be my deck of choice for first ride in meta after RtR comes out.

RE: Vault Skirge
Lifelink, flying, an almost 1cc creature and it not being green are its positive traits.
Especially the lifelink because it gives you somewhat enough distance from his calculation from his expected damages.
Although the con of having this is its 1 power. There will be times that, only if VS had originally 2 power, you'll find yourself short of two damage for the win.
But then again, it really depends on how your playing style with this deck. Let us know more what you learned with VS in our deck.
RE: COTV
Not everyone is using COTV at one against our deck. I think most of our opponent would prefer adding spot removals from their SB such as PTE and the like to help STP in its job. OR, they'll add mass removals such as DEEDS, DOJ/WOG, EE, PERISH.
RE: ANT
This is a hard match up for us all here. That's why I have 4 mindbreak trap in my SB to help my troops against this archetype of deck. I dont think having SV's lifelink would save us from ANT's hell.
RE: STRANGLE ROOT
I played this in a tournament replacing the 1 of each of tarmogoyf and scryb sprite. This guy rocks. IT being haste and undying really annoys my oppenent. Its like casting a 3/2 for ZERO.
RE: DISMEMBER
No doubt, this card is a good removal against their fatty creature. Removal, so that means it is a defensive card. The berserk deck is, as i see it, an aggressive one. Even its SB are configured against its worst MUs. But base on your post, having VS and dismember at the same time COULD be a good addition or tweak for this deck.
:D
BTW, did anyone here use this deck in today's meta?
miracles, RUG, UR, omnitell, sneakyshow, reanimator, mavs, stoneblade.
How was it? I did use this, see my post # 1269, and it performed well. But that tournament was just a 4 rounder.
We will have a big one this sunday and I am seriously considering this. Any thought/ comment if our current deck can make it to the top? What's going to be the pros and cons if it went head to head against them (miracles, RUG, UR, omnitell, sneakyshow, reanimator, mavs, stoneblade).
Thanks
:D
Re: [Deck] Berserk Stompy
This is a deck I really wish would make a comeback. Strangleroot Geist seems like a great card but I don't think it can do it alone. Dryad Militant is cool but doesn't really add anything "new"
One odd thing though, how is Invigorate good without Kavu Predator? Its nice wtih Berserk I guess but not nearly as overpowered as it is for Poison.
