I play Mono B, as you know, and I find my cool cards would always be more playable in a blue deck. So I say to myself. "what is the point?" Granted a blue deck cannot run chalice, but if it did it would better at it than a black deck.
I see five options. Either: 1. Shape the deck around chalice. With no way to quickly dig for it this is not so good.
2. Put chalice in a normal build, accepting that you risk blank your own spells.
3. As 2 but chalice is in the SB to be brought in when you are on the play.
4. Forget about chalice and build on the strengths of Mono black: An abundance of creature kill, land destruction, discard and pure card draw. This is the theme for traditional pox builds, except for the card draw.
5. Build a 'best of' deck. This is not the same as that above.
