It seems like in every format, save Limited, basics take a complete backseat to nonbasics, and more powerful nonbasic hate could really do something to counteract that.
Of course, Wizards probably wants nonbasics to be better so they can sell packs with cycles of duals.
They reeeeeallllly don't like LD. ;)
I do like the idea of making Basics more important or at least make building a manabase more interesting than "insert X duals". And it would give a small boost to monocolor decks which is nice because there really isn't any reason to stay single colored. You are rarely punished for splashing and you lose almost no consistency.
I'd settle for a colorshifted Sinkhole that only hits non-Basics.

Rite of Scavenging :b::g:
Instant
Return target card from your graveyard to your hand. You lose life equal to that card's converted mana cost.

Regrow see 0 play, not sure what this would achieve. Maybe?
GraveStorm :b::g:

Put the top 3 cards of your library into your graveyard.

Thanks! That was a good suggestion. Regrowth is used a little in Vintage (Regrowth Gush).

Yeah i meant in legacy. Vintage has some bombs you really want to return (walk, gush etc...), but in Legacy Snapcaster is usually just a better option. I think even regrowth at :g: wouldn't be that good nowadays in legacy.
Green could use some more "reuse the graveyard" spells though. It make so much sense with the theme of nature recycling everything.
Seed the earth :g::g:
Sorcery
Kicker: exile a creature from your graveyard.
Search your library for a land, reveal it, and add it to your hand. If you paid the kicker, put it on the battlefield tapped instead.
Re: Obligatory shitty card creation thread
Grave Oracle :1::b:
Creature - Human Shaman
At the beginning of each upkeep, exile a card in a graveyard. If you do, Scry 1.
2/1

should have actual Gravestorm
Re: Obligatory shitty card creation thread
A simple design, but I like it alot:
Fiery Confidant :1::r:
Creature - Human Shaman
At the beginning of your upkeep, you may discard a card. If you do, draw a card.
2/1
You can either filter your hand with the looting effect or generate CA if you're hellbent.
Re: Obligatory shitty card creation thread
Since a shittier Shock has been printed, i thought of an actually playable shock with spell mastery
Good burn spell :r:
Instant
Deal 2 damage to target creature
Spell mastery : and 2 damage to target player.

Like a lot, but would change to :r::r:, as to make it a little less splashable.
Also, would not work with hellbent, since you have no card to discard to draw another card. Not sure how to word it effectively, but technically speaking...

One of the few cards I have seen here and thought "I can really see this being printed". Well done.

It would have to be "At the beginning of your upkeep, (you may) discard a card, then draw a card."

Because the initial version was "discard a card, then draw a card".
I tried to improve the card, but completely missed that.
Re: Obligatory shitty card creation thread
Primordial Tutor :g::b:
Sorcery
Search your library or graveyard for a permanent card, reveal it, and add it to your hand. Reshuffle your library afterward.
Fixed Demonic for grindy/midrangey GB decks. Making it search permanent and GB color requirement ensure you isn't as good in primarily blue shells.
Re: Obligatory shitty card creation thread
How about this as white consistency tool?
Big Brother, Combat Scout :w:
Legendary Creature - Bird
Flying
Whenever a white creature you control attacks, scry 1.

Both this and the Fiery Confidant you made are really cool.
Re: Obligatory shitty card creation thread
I like it a lot too. The "scout" concept for white works really well as a flavorful way to give white consistency tools.
Surprised they never made a sort of reverse necro for white.
Trade Agreement :w:
Enchantment
Discard a land: your opponent gain 3 life and you draw a card. Use this ability only if your opponent has 20 or less life.
Make land tax viable! Or maybe not.
I also really like dwarfs and think they should be represented much more in red. They're both amazing artisans and warriors, something that fit red perfectly imho:
Dwarven Miner :r:
Creature - Dwarf
T, sacrifice a land: search your library for an artifact with converted mana cost 1 or less, reveal it and add it to your hand. Shuffle your library afterward.
Ooh shiny mox!

That card is probably busted. People play trinket mage for a single shot effect at a higher mana cost.

Trinket don't require you to untap and don't require you to sac a land. I think it'd be a really strong card, especially in Vintage, but not broken, especially now that Vintage actually play some creature removal.

Maybe. There's a long list of very potent cards it can fetch, and you can float the mana to cast them.
