Omg... Absolutely my mistake.
I have my whole deck pimped in german (a language I don't speak so good)... I wished I had used gatherer first. Sorry for asking such a stupid question. Now I will go and bury my head in the sand (and put Rain of Filth in my list again)...
In those weird situations Rain of Filth can be used to easily hit threshold when you know its all green.
So I'm going to be testing out a list with a single Burning Wish for a bit here (if I ever get out to play). I'm kind of unsure on the SB though. I've got a Top/Preordain/BWish split with 1 MB AN/PiF/Tendrils as well. Current sideboard is:
1 Tendrils of Agony
1 Past in Flames
1 Empty the Warrens
2 Massacre
4 Abrupt Decay
3 Xantid Swarm
2 Chain of Vapor
1 Flex (Right now it's a bolt, but I'm thinking maybe a Thoughtseize to wish for?)
I understand a lot of people aren't fans of the wish, but I enjoy the flexibility and also have been wanting a 5th "tutor". Do you guys think this is alright or maybe switch it up a bit?
Wish is not supposed to be a tutor, it's supposed to be an additional Tendrils when you play against Surgical Extraction effects. The utility is lost because of how clunky it is. I don't like the idea viewing cards as sideboard-only, but Wish is very much sideboard-only.
So you are willing to sacrifice 1/3 of your sideboard for one singleton Burning Wish?
If you play one Wish it is only a splitcard that reads:
"Burning the Warrens 4RR / Tendrils' on Fire 3RBB"
I did this before and won the GP Kyoto Trial 2 months ago but seriously, there is no need for it unluss you are REALLY scared of Slaughter Games and Sadistic Sacraments. If I remember correctly I cast it only once to get turn one Goblins while it got shuffled away the rest of the time. The card is ok with Ad Nauseam though. But generally, Thumbs down for wish.
So I'm gonna join a 200-People tournament today called "God-series" in Tokyo.
8 rounds of swiss + top8, really exited.
My List has changed since Grand Prix Kyoto, so here is what I'm gonna play today.
http://decks.deckedbuilder.com/d/69094
We got a new metagame here:
1. miracle control
2. grixis control
3. Grixis Delver
4. Omnitell
5. Merfolk
It is kind of challenging, especially against Miracle and Grixis Control so one Sensei's Diviving Top went in my main instead of the second Preordain.
Ad Nauseam stays in the main for obvious reasons.
The sideboard is a next level project: You see a lot of Meddling Mages out of Miracle decks naming "Abrupt Decay" so that's the reason to split 2-3 with Grip.
City of Solitude is a test card over the third Xantid Swarm although I think the card is not really worth the slot.
The only rounds I lost with this deck during the last 4 tournaments (32 rounds including the GP) were against miracle control so I'm willing to tune half of my sb against it. After all, that's the reason for a sideboard, right ?
Attack Attack !

#Last Minute Change:
my Sideboard contains 2 (!) city of solitudes and 1 Thoughtseize now.
Bye Flusterstorm...
To be fair though, Everything in that board was already being played in the board other than the possible Thoughtseize I listed. Otherwise it is essentially another business spell. I haven't gotten to actually play with it, but in theory it is nice to be able to use my Infernal Tutors to get more rituals and then able to wish for PiF despite not being completely hellbent.
I wasn't saying you were wasting slots, that was Kai. Wish always seems free and good in theory, but in practice it's almost always worse than playing an additional Tendrils. It's very hard to go off through Wish -> Past in Flames and other than that, it does do much. It does feel great to cast Tendrils for 20 without any engines from seven or eight cards in hand though. If you want better Ad Nauseams, play an additional Tendrils; if you want to have better Past in Flames kills, play an additional Tendrils.
Probably just doing it oldschool like Carsten, as for the D&T matchup with no Dread of Night or Massacre in board just insert the 3 CoV for 3 Duress.
Regarding Burning Wish i am also playing a singleton main right now, alot of D&T + Miracles + UWx Delver in the meta so it kinda works like a better Pyroclasm that is not dead in other matchups. Playing this in game 1 again an unexpected player is always nice. Just need to win 1/2 of the remaining games.
Back with a top 32 finish among 192 players.
Well, not my day...got a couple of fizzle action with Past in Flames with only cantrips in my yard.
The main has been decent as always, I'm gonna stick with 1 Preordain and 1 Sensei instead of 2 Preordains, that's for sure.
The second Tendrils of Agony is kind of tempting because now Infernal Tutor turns into an "engine".
(You double Toa and and get lethal damage for minimal investment, just a simple storm 4-5 and 8 mana)
RoF - for G2 I usually SB out a ritual, I don't know why I'd like more, 4 lands is needed to have same mana output through PiF as DR, this is getting a bit wild when you read as an option in TES discussion such hype for a fringe DDFT card
single BW MD for answering X or Z is really bad and random there was a discussion in the old thread few years back exactly like this one, the SB idea is neat
I'm a bit worried about next logical step when Miracles start to include MM/Cannonists for Omnitell MU often, the splash damage for Ant is very unpleasant
Well, it's a card what scales with turns played and still can ignore graveyard hate unlike Cabal Ritual and only costs 1 mana which was the reason for the pondering. It's a black Rite of Flame in most cases which isn't as bad as Chrome Mox in your hand is if the game isn't decided in the first or second turn. I guess discussion is valid (mostly because I hate Chrome Mox anyways)
It's not just "bad", but a horrible mindset I try to fight in the TES thread for years. "Wish->Solution" is a terrible reactive gameplan and tempoloss. Wish is a card for increased but flexible threat-density not a hail Mary to dig you out from losing positions. It's the same stupid idea people come up with in regards to Diminishing Returns
They already did. Kai mentioned the nasty combo of Counterbalance + Meddling Mage @ Decay on Facebook and opted to split Decay/Grip for that reason. I do not agree with that conclusion personally because assembling both cards without a window to break free or combo. Canonist is a bit nastier as an turn two autopilot against storm and OmniTell
Same here mirracles is a verry hard matchup. Specially if they are gonna include MM and cannonist for omnitell we should be prepaired for that.
We already have some hate for death and taxes with massacres/dread of night. I think we should increase the number of those cards for a better matchup against mirracles.
The question what to take out is a hard one and i dont have a good answer on it, it realy depends on your board but i think i'am going to take out a surgical extraction ( i run two and i only use them for the mirror and reanimator like decks). But i think its not a bad choice to have 3-4 massacres for that situation. They only have 2/3 jaces in the deck to counterballance the massacre. Incombination with discard and krosan grip we might have a shot:)
The only problem when boarding in 3 massacres is that adnauseum gets a lot worse i guess.
And we can often play it for free. It also destroys there cliques and snapcasters. Besides that our matchups against thalia decks get a lot better (D&T, Maverick)
Like kai said if its our worst matchup why not commit like 50% of our sideboard to it.
Note that i'am not a really experienced storm player, i have a lot of love for the deck though.
So sorry if i am saying stupid things.
@kai: congrats with a nice finish again. You keep on tearing people apart i love it!
You can not justify boarding creature removal just for speculating on potential hatebears and Clique as it's job usually done once it entered the battlefield. You can however find reason for additional flexible permanent-removal like more copies of Decays, Grips or CoV (play artifacts, bounce them and opponents Canonist, replay artifacts into Tendrils)
Hey Lemnear,
Thx for you response like i said i'am not an experienced player those were just my thoughts. I think your right. Iam gonna keep it on a maximum of 2 massacres and fit some more Cotv decays or grips in :)
did someone ever tryed ratchet bom it can take out there mages and cannonist, and some case it can prevent you from them playing there angels.
Yea, Kai hit the issue that is occuping my thoughts since reading Ovino decklists, to stress the issue is why I responded in the first place, cannonist used to fringe tech (not many dare to play that with Snapcaster), but I saw that in multiple lists and got MMed right after Kyoto... Unfortunately this development renders my prefered tech, pithing needle, unusable... Sbing in Massacre I'd be sbing 12 cards...So I'm interested in experience outgrinding miracles w sdt and multiple G spells, which did not work for me yet, but there is no better way it seems for this situation... I don't think split in favor of KG is optimal as it does not deal with the MM and does nothing for the rest of the MU
You are right.
The current Miracle lists are pure "Storm slayers"
We need to fight:
->4-6 hatebears
->4 counterbalances
->floating countermagic on top
->2+ countermagic in their hand
->Sometimes Monastery Mentor to negate our goblin plan
meddling mage on abrupt decay is super annoying as I mentioned earlier.
The question is how to fight this mass of couter&permanent hate.
It's like playing against an unfair version of Death&Taxes.
I did some test playings with one of the best Miracle Players in Tokyo yesterday, these cards came in:
+2 Sensei's Divining Top
+2 Abrupt Decay
+3 Krosan Grip
+2 City of Solitude
+1 Thoughtseize
-3 Ponder
-1 Preordain
-2 Cabal Ritual
-1 Infernal Tutor
-1 Led
-2 Lotus Petal
He brought in:
+2 Ethersworn Canonist
+3 Meddling Mage
+2 Flusterstorm
+1 Rest in Piece
+2 Vendillion Clique
-4 Terminus
-2 Entreat the Angels
-1 councils Judgement
-1 Plains
-2 X
Postboard their deck become a hatebear.deck with infinite counterbackup.
We also had the chatter about fighting back with creatures.
Is Grip actually better than some number of Wipeaway? Wipeaway can theoretically answer Meddling Mage where Grip cannot.
EDIT: Also the Goblin plan seems incredible if they're siding out all of their Terminus.
I have 4AD, 2pyro, 2KG, 2extirpate, possibly 2 Massacre at 2SDT now, I'll try squezing in 3rd and dust off Pernicious Deed... Other plan to try is Goblins as Bryant says, but those G3 are awkward
In this case, wouldn't a single Entreat the Angels do the job? You just have to be careful about counterspells in their hand. Just play the control game (with ANT, lol). Get a LED and TOP into play and ETA on top of library. I have had some good results with this card in g2/g3 against slow decks that side out removal.
Pernicious Deed to get rid of Hatebears and Counterbalance? Sounds really interesting, similar to engineered explosives. Haven't tested both cards so far so I can't tell if they are good or not. Maybe you can Martin :)
With so many problems,is a bad idea to try to win asap?
I mean something like this:
+3/4 decay
+2/3 xantid swarm
+1 etw
Just thought I'd do some last gasp promotion for the upcoming Danish Legacy Masters for any of my storm brethren considering going. Prizes have been spoiled for 1st and 2nd place and remember, you can pre-order a ticket for the event at https://billetto.dk/events/73591
There is a limit of 137 players for the event so if you want to be absolutely certain to have a ticket (this is mainly relevant for people traveling to Copenhagen from abroad) you should buy a ticket - there is currently still plenty left for sale, but I ascribe this, mainly, to the pre-ordering being a new thing for us and so most local players are used to just showing up on the day and paying. We hit 118 players last year and it is not inconceivable that we will hit our limit of 137. So, Again, if you want to be certain you have ticket, I advise you to go ahead and pre-register now. The tickets are 200DKK (roughly 27 euro).

Just somme quick questions, that probably get a long answer.
1. What is our best strategy against BUG Delver? (and sideboard plan), what about RUG-, UWR-, Grixis Delver, and Deathblade s there alot difference?
2. What is out best strategy against Elves? Just go faster? Or grinding station? What about sideboarding?
1. Strange question. Your strategy is "boot to the head" as you have only 1 trait to kill them. Bit more serious: There are four categories: counter+discard, counter+hatebears, counter+discard+hatebears and counter only. You can play around DRS and softcounters, but need solutions to hatebears. The Rest is imo a game of reason and options
2. Race them and strip their Glimpse & Natural Order. Grinding Station plan is doomed to fail, because you just can't kill them slowly by draining them with several ToAs if their Craterhoof or Ruric kill you (more or less) immediately
Bring in Flusterstorm and Ad Nauseam against Elves and call it a day.
@Trygon Predator,Pernicious Deed and friends: If my spells resolve against Miracle they should be Infernal Tutor and Dark Ritual instead of those "solutions".
I still appreciate all your ideas.
While we are on the topic of strange man-plans: anyone tried grim lavamancer? Against miraclea he picks off hatebears and also applys pressure through the lock if he comes down before cb. Horrible draw lategame though.
