Don't forget that you can target Force of Will in the graveyard before comboing assuming you have a blue card in hand.

@Admiral_Arzar: To flashback it for 5 mana?
Jace is not flashback. You can pay the alternate casting cost for force of will
don't think FOW is where this deck wants to be at. We're ok just running valuetown.dec, i'd sooner run hymn to tourach > fow.
I tried to play Aluren earlier and I was wondering how exactly do you win vs a resolved revoker (or unresolved for that matter) since when you have Aluren in play he will always be able to replay it before you do anything relevant.
I only read a bit of the post as well but does the new Liliana, heretical healer have any applications in the deck? I know you can go infinate zombies with a aluren, a sac outlet, witness and her but I'm unsure if this is relevant somehow for the deck or just very fancy. Maybe there are easier ways as well to use her in the deck.
Mostly fancy. Coral Barrier already does the trick and sees no play.
Revoker should be destroyed directly to avoid headaches. Otherwise you should bait it, either with multiple Harpies or something like that. Get your opponent to cast it and win with it on the stack.
Bait and play around hit. Can't touch you. Also fow is the key card.

Main deck I have no answer to a Revoker, however decks that play Revoker are not particularly bad matchups by any stretch of the imagination. Against any deck playing Revoker you should not feel much pressure to combo, unless it is exactly D&T, then you have to try to outvalue them game 1, but it is very hard. For games 2 and 3 the match up becomes fairly easy with a Dread of Night and some Decays, in addition to RecSages
I actually think DnT is a hard matchup at least in g1. They mess with us in so many ways and in g1 if they get up to 4 jitte counters its game over.
This is why my sideboard starts with 3 Pernicious Deed no matter the age or metagame. There will always be a relevant matchup where it's useful.
Pernicious Deed has a few problems: We also run things that die to Deed; It costs 3 mana; We only are about a few, specific permanents that our opponents have in play, so Decay is better at dealing with the problems by in large
Another possibility is to have like 3 x Golgari Charm in sb. It is great against DnT and Elves. Not good vs Maverick (Gaddock Teeg, Qasali Pridemage). So yeah, my universal weapon of choice would also be Abrupt Decay.
when i was on food chain, abrupt decays were so good i went up to 4 maindeck (instead of the universally agreed 3). In games that weren't combo it was always nice to topdeck a decay at any point in the game.
bot we definitely only care about specific permanents that interact with us in a bad way so targeted removal is the way to go and AD serves that purpose.
anyone here still rocking with aluren?

Match ups were
1st round Goblins 2-1
2nd round Shardless bug 2-0
3rd round Elves 0-2 ( was just short of combing off both times )
4th MUD 2-1 ( first game fought through chalice on 3 and platinum emperion in play to win, lost 2nd game, won 3rd match after spending 15 life bouncing harpy+strix to get recruiter)
5th Miracles 1-1
6th My opponent didn't show, I guess they decided to drop after seeing the standings posted
7th 4color Delver 2-1 tried to break up the combo with just a lightning bolt first game, 3rd just as time was about to be called combo'd off he tried to stop it with lavamancer
Finished with 5-1-1 which was just enough to get into top 8
Quarter final Omni-tell first game I misplayed and ran Aluren into a Fow hoping to eternal it back and then combo off as I had stripped 2 omnisciences out of his hand and the show and tells. But show and tell into emrakul finished me off.
Game 2 I hold of casting the aluren and he show and tells, he puts omniscience me aluren, he cast intuition in response I cast reclamation sage, he intuitions a second time and I cast recruiter in response now his hand is empty and combo off.
Game 3 I beat down with 2 shardless and strix he show and tells emrakul and I reclamation sage, which is too much for him to block and live.
Semi final Shardless bug
Cant remember much except very tight games. he won the first one, I take the 2nd after he landed a jace with my scavenging ooze and attacking with the parasitic strip, 3rd game he gets and early pithing needle on my shamans and a tarmogoyf I held off killing either with an abrupt decay as I had 3 shardless in hand hoping to cascade into an abrupt and my decay gets hymm'd away.
Overal is was a very fun day and a lot of people were excited to see Aluren played, at least those I wasn't playing against :P Quite often people put me on Shardless bug which helped me steal game 1
did maindeck reclamation sage do a lot of work? looking at your list I would prefer to swop the sideboarded sedraxis alchemist with the maindeck sage.
How did you beat through a chalice on 3? Must have been a painful process lol.
I have never beaten elves with this deck in a sanctioned match before, I have a feeling its meant to be a bad matchup, they can outgrind us and they have the combo finish as well.
I had aluren in play as well as some shardless agents and sage from destroying some lightning greaves earlier. Cast harpy bounce agent and cast it, its counted but cascade triggers didn't hit anything useful. Bounced the 2nd shard less and cascaded into abrupt decay which killed the chalice, sac'd sage to flashback cabal even though I knew he only had a city of traitors as I needed the sage in the grave yard, cast eternal witness to get sage back and cast it to kill the emperion and then combo'd off :)
The reclamation sage did a lot of work for me during the day, I didn't side in the alchemist at all, it was mostly there as I've had never played just one dream stalker and I wanted something I could fall back on if I needed to.
Elves really seem like a bad matchup, I find I have to really combo off early, in the 2nd game I did get static caster but it got abrupt decayed pretty quickly. Haven't found a good sideboard against them yet.
During the day I felt there were times I could have sided a lot better and some decisions, like the one in the semi final game 3, showed I really needed more practice with the deck. Certainly need more practice with cabal therapy as getting the right call makes a huge differrence.
that was a good sequence there with getting sage into the graveyard to EW it back.
I was talking with alex and he also mentioned that elves is just one of those matchups that we accept that will be a bit hairy. Short of sideboarding in some pretty narrow cards I don't think there is a whole lot we can do about it.
Would you be keen to share your sideboarding choices? we can talk about it if you would like to.
Do stick around with the deck, its a good deck and rewards patience
