Re: [Deck] Solitaire (Enchantress)
Shit man, you're that worried about Death and Taxes, better MD you some Anarchy.
This:

I maindeck Choke because it is a beating against some of my worst match-ups. Sure, it's dead against non-blue decks but if you're playing against Zoo/Goblins/Survival/Loam then you should win those MU's anyways. Having a bomb against your harder MU's out-weighs the cons of having a single dead card (that still cantrips...) against your good MU's.
is what it boils down to.
Re: [Deck] Solitaire (Enchantress)
No one is worried about dadgum D&T, it was an example of how City has applications outside blue decks and Choke does not. Moving on...
I probably will play Choke maindeck if I go to a larger tournament, its just not good maindeck material for my meta.
Re: [Deck] Solitaire (Enchantress)
So after reading more pages in this thread, looking over my decklist for the past month, and finally getting some playtest time in, I have come up with a new GWR decklist and sideboard. While the MD is standard fare, as is most of the SB, there might be one inclusion that sticks out.
20 Lands
7 Forest
3 Plains
4 Windswept Heath
3 Savannah
2 Serra's Sanctum
1 Taiga
4 Creatures
4 Argothian Enchantress
2 Sorceries
2 Replenish
Enchantments
4 Enchantress's Prescence
4 Utopia Sprawl
4 Elephant Grass
4 Sterling Grove
3 Solitary Confinement
2 Mirri's Guile
2 Exploration
2 Wild Growth
2 Oblivion Ring
2 Ground Seal
1 Moat
1 Karmic Justice
1 Aura of Silence
1 Sigil of the Empty Throne
1 Words of War
SB
3 Choke
3 Spreading Algae
2 Runed Halo
2 Karmic Justice
2 Seal of Primordium
1 Ground Seal
1 Replenish
1 Dovescape
Don't have much time to go into card choices atm, but 3 Savannah just because not EVERY deck in the format runs Wasteland and port doesn't care whether your land is basic or not. I might go down to 2 though. No halo MD just because I believe that this deck already runs a lot of soft answers to stuff MD, with halo coming out to protect against tendrills (which hardly ever works) and dreadnought (which sort of works).
I believe the deck's weakest link is the MD'ed AoS. Its 1WW casting cost hurts this deck early, and im not sure the costing 2 more to play is all that relevant to most decks who run artifacts and enchantments (save the rare affinity and the often times boring mirror match).
The sideboard I feel pretty confindent about. x3 choke is obligitory. I couldn't find room for a MD'ed 1 of, but I would do that if going to a major tourney. The Spreading Algae's may look odd, but Eva green, landstill, and deck that runs swamps, bayou, underground sea, scrubland etc should fear this card. Even if they Thoughtseize it away turn 1, thats just another perhaps more important enchantment protected in its place. Runed Halo is there for the anydeckwithtarmogofy/tendrills/dreadnought space, and more seals are also a fast answer to nought and others. The Karmic Justic's are there for sweepers, and the extra ground seal for loam and Ichorid (Perhaps one Wheel of Sun and Moon would be the better card).
Thats about all I have time for right now, any suggestions or does this look pretty solid? Is there a better choice for a card I could use in Spreading Algae's place that accomplishes the same ideal (denial)? Thanks in advance for any advice!
Re: [Deck] Solitaire (Enchantress)
Why do you play Dovescape in your SB? Can some1 explain?
Re: [Deck] Solitaire (Enchantress)
I know this is a dumb question probably but why is ground seal main?

It cuts some decks off completely while also being a win condition.

It digs for Enchantress effects and jumpstarts your combo.

Dovescape is also very relevant when the opponent is playing meddling mage names WoW every round. Its also basically countertop proof.
Ground Seal, in addition to the points you made, also randomly hoses some deck strategies such as loam.
Nobody has any words for the decklist or Sb? Seems pretty solid then?
As a bonus, if I were to take Enchantress to gencon, I would run the following SB:
3 choke
3 spreading algae
2 warmth
2 runed halo
1 dovescape
1 replenish
1 karmic justuce
1 wheel of sun and moon
1 serenity (best answer for the mirror match imo, make plenty of angel tokens then play this, unless they have birds or enough angels to block you win after your next upkeep).
Gencon is going to be filled with somewhat-janky decks that people believe will win them the championship (burn, slide, and unfortunatly enchantress) so you have to be able to answer them (especially enchantress and burn, they arrive in droves at gencon). Warmth is the best answer I can find to burn, and in a battle between helix and serenity I choose the later because it decimates the mirror while probably giving you the high ground (against the mirror, hold back the replenish until all enchants are gone, your opponent could of possibly SB'ed his out, or in worst case scenerio serenity buys you one turn to win with tokens.
Re: [Deck] Solitaire (Enchantress)
I would say that the decklist looks very solid. Just a few minor tweaks that you may want to consider:
mirris guile vrs sylvan library vrs enlightened tutor: this has been beaten to death, but it is something to keep in mind. Each card has its merits and drawbacks. I think guile is the best option, but thats just me.
#s: I think replenish is too powerful to not run less than 3 in the main. With so many self sacraficing cards (grass, confinement, aura...etc) and almost every deck nuking you with something (pridemage, counters, deed, grips...etc) i am almost never unhappy to see a replenish. I would expect to see alot of maindeck EE, grips, and pridemages at gencon, with counter-top being the deck to beat.
SB: i don't like spreading algae, at all. You should beat mono-black already through the power of elephant grass. Against decks that splash black (eva, landstill) i would rather have karmic justice/choke/city/halo. I dont like dovescape or serenity either. Rather have city against landstill, and aura of silence against enchantress. Aura is also good against stax and counter-top.
Sphere of Law and COP: Red are other options against burn. They all have their pros and cons. Alternatively, you could exchange red for blue and have In the Eye of Chaos and Chill as options, which both sound pretty sexy.

i like aegis of honor better than cop: r vs burn but cop: r is more versatile.
Re: [Deck] Solitaire (Enchantress)
hi all
i wanted to see something different for my enchantress deck. i want to try the combo version so i was checking that list on deck check and i wonder how lignify works with meddling mage...
does the new layer rules affect that?
how?
i think that lignify has no power on the mage's ability but i wanted to be sure.
thanks
tomjulioo
Re: [Deck] Solitaire (Enchantress)
Lignify will just remove the Meddling Mage's ability, which is the "Named card can't be played" part unless the named card is Lignify.
Re: [Deck] Solitaire (Enchantress)
The combo version is definitely better with blue and words of wind.
Re: [Deck] Solitaire (Enchantress)
Thanks for the words roopa, glad to get some feedback soonish.
I've never liked tutor. I used to run library but mirri has won me so many games (like pulling lands after one was destroyed) or drawing cards I wouldn't of through confinement that I believe it is the best. The best use i've seen through library is drawing the 2 cards against some combo and using it with words of war, which is sort of meh.
I fought for a long time to get that third replenish in, but I don't know what I would take out for it. Perhaps take out the dovescape from the SB and replace it with Sigil, replacing sigil in the MD with the replenish? To be honest 2 replenish has seemed the best for me, but its something that will definitly be tried.
Algae is a throwback from before replenish was unbanned, together with justice it would hose any disruption based decks (I think I had 4 algae SB'd). Against any deck its useful against it basically reads G: destroy target land, when that land is destroyed return spreading algae to your hand. Maybe it is overkill, but i've had success with it.
Sphere of law is basically warmth but costs twice as much to play. If burn is only doing 1-2 damage a turn to you Enchantress should be able to get a lock down before it lose. I've never liked any of the COP's.
Glad to see that the MD looks so solid, it looked pretty good to me, some hard cuts and i'll see about getting that 3rd replenish in there, thanks.
Re: [Deck] Solitaire (Enchantress)
Don't overlook the fact that Sylvan Library can also grab you a couple cards to help set up and keep a confinement down. This has come up on more than one occasion. You have some life to spare, no cards in hand and library on the table. Pay the extra life, drop confinement with some wiggle room. The combo with words of war is just gravy. I personally run 1 of each (Guile and Library). Dovescape is cute against the mirror if you are first to stick confinement.

It actually doesn't help keep Solitary Confinement around, since the extra draws happen in the draw step.
Re: [Deck] Solitaire (Enchantress)
I understand why Dovescape is good, but in what matchups do you guys bring it in, and what do you replace with it?

He means using it before the Confinement to make your hand fatter.

It's really good vs controll and combo. I would take out the Sigil for one. You have to be careful though, I remember at the various columbus PTQ's I attended (hulk flash season) that every player who played meddling mage almost always named Words of War first. Thankfully I was playing blue at the time (perhaps one way blue is better than red lol).
Re: [Deck] Solitaire (Enchantress)
sphere of law is better against ETW, gobbos, grapeshot, and sligh type decks (zoo).
dovescape has always felt like a winmore to me. Landstill (ussually) has a slightly higher curve, which means you only want to play dovescape with enchantress already on the board. If you have enchantress on the board, you should be winning anyhow, and choke/city would be better in this slot.
@tomjulo list: looks very interesting, i plan on trying it out.

I kinda like the list, but what's with the Overgrown Tombs and 63 ( ) cards?..
