Well obviously Turn 1 or 2 Top is better than turn 3 Trinket, turn 4 Top. It's just that I haven't played magic since the 5th Anniversary tournament and even then I was playing Ugb Thresh and not Dreadstill(not by choice mind you). So it's been a while since I've played Dreadstill, and to be honest I can't think of a legitamate reason not to run 4 Tops.
My Current List- Main 60
Ugr Dreadstill
// Lands-21
4 Polluted Delta
3 Flooded Strand
4 Mishra's Factory
3 Wasteland
2 Island
3 Tropical Island
2 Volcanic Island
// Creatures-9
3 Phyrexian Dreadnought
2 Trinket Mage
4 Tarmogoyf
// Spells-17
4 Stifle
1 Trickbind
4 Force of Will
1 Daze(will most likely become Top #4)
3 Spell Snare
4 Brainstorm
// Non Creature Permanents-13
4 Standstill
4 Counterbalance
3 Sensei's Divining Top
2 Engineered Explosives
// Sideboard-15
2 Echoing Truth
1 Pithing Needle
2 Blue Elemental Blast
1 Tormod's Crypt
2 Relic of Progenitus
3 Red Elemental Blast
3 Firespout
Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist
I would never play with less than 3 Daze. They are just great!
Since every1 is playing around CB nowadays I think we should make 2 slots MD to get rid of it. EE is good but I am thinking of Wipe Away x 1-2.
Tried it and wasn't really bad..

I'd rather run Grip main over Wipe Away.
1) It's another spell that needs double blue
2) It doesn't even reliably answer CB, if your gonna dedicate main slots to getting rid of CB you probably don't want a bounce effect.
Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist
I agree that Grip is much better than Wipe Away but I play an UB version atm. As soon as I get other duals I'll splash green for Goyf and Grip.
Just another consideration. Played some friendly matches against zoo, affinity and merfolks. Bob is a house! Just won me so many games with CA
Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist
I'm curious what do you think about UWG build. In my opinion, this is very interesting option, with universal answers for all (well, most of all anyway:) possible threats for us.
The list below is based on the list I'v seen on deckcheck (first from the top on dreadstill section). I didn't have a chance to test it yet - I'll be grateful for your comments!
Creatures(9):
3x Phyrexian Dreadnought
4x Tarmogoyf
2x Trinket Mage
Instants(20):
4x Force of Will
3x Daze
4x Brainstorm
4x Sword to Plowshares
4x Stifle
1x Trickbind
Enchantements/Artifacts(10):
4x Standstill
3x Counterbalance
2x Sensei Dividing Top
1x Engineered Explosives
Lands(21):
4x Polluted Delta
2x Flooded Strand
4x Mishra's Factory
3x Wasteland
2x Tundra
3x Tropical Island
2x Island
1x Plains
Sideboard (15):
4x Medding Mage
3x Krosan Grip
3x Blue Elemental Blast
2x Energy Flux
2x Relic ofProgenitus
1x Tormod's Crypt
In my local meta, most decks are based on Tombstalker(most MonoB, sometimes TA) so while I was playing Ur version the only possible answer to it was Echoing Truth, if not followed by a Crypt/Relic only delayed Stalker for a couple of turns.
As well playing Tempo Thresh Trygon Predator while resolved ment game over for the same reason like above.
I simply fell that I don't have enough answers for threads like this.
In the list above I have removal in the form of Swords, and sideboard options like Medding Mage which can name the biggest threat in opponent's deck.
As well strongest argument (apart from Goyfs) to play Ug version - Krosan Grip is available.
I know I should play more Flooded Strands than Deltas, but at the moment I don't have them - they are extremely difficult to get in my country:)
The way I see it the problem of this deck is that opponent can easily make you srew - and disconnect you from the options like Goyfs/Krosan Grip's or Swords/Mages.
But that maybe only my wrong idea about playing 3 colors. I just felt more comfortable playing Ur based on 6 islands, while I was actually immune to Blood Moon effect.
Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist
I think in any list without red you need at least two Explosives, preferably 3. Without red, Explosives becomes your only sweeper against decks like Merfolk, Faeries, Goblins, and Zoo. Goblins is the only one I see a problem with because Explosives is pretty effective against the others, plus wayyyyyyyy(yy) more(CB anyone?).
With your list I would probably just cut Trinket Mage in favor of the 2nd Explosives and 3rd Top. Also -1 Swords, +1 CB.

This has been my deck of choice for the last few months i.e. Dreadstill with the green/white splash. It absolutely smashes during guantlet testing sessions, the only really tough match ups being Suicide Black w/ Snuff Outs, the Rock and Elves! (surprisingly). I placed 1st then 2nd in the last and only tournaments we've had around here, went something like 9-2-1 with it in tournament games.
"Chubstill"
3 Goyf
4 Nought
2 Trinket Mage
4 Stifle
1 Trickbind
4 CB
3 Top
4 Fow
2 Daze
4 StP
1 EE
4 Brainstorm
3 Standstill
3 Trop
2 Tundra
7 Fetch
2 Island
3 Waste
4 Factory
2 Crucible of Worlds
2 Trygon Predator
2 Crypt
1 Relic
1 Needle
3 Grip
3 Hydroblast
1 Chub Toad
It is what it looks like: Dreadstill with Goyf and StP to combat random agro. When I test mono blue and Ur splashes I always feel naked against anything with creatures. Trinket Mage->EE is there but not something I want as a plan "A". I absolutely love it but the manabase is horrendous, and the blue count is light, so I keep going back and forth between the three color and both two color splashes:
-4 StP +1 Mage. +1 Daze, +1 Top, +1 Goyf
or
-3 Goyf +1 Mage. +1 Daze, +1 Top
I find StP to be better against decks you want to land Standstill against turn 2, and Goyf against anything you want to push Nought through, but they have been pretty much the same as far as combating agro plans.
Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist
What happened to the other 3 Chub Toads?
Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist
Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist
Not sure if I should post this here..
Well, I currently swapped to a UBG version without Standstill, seems it's Dreaded Fish. I'll post it for possible comments and to let you know it works well. I'll try it a bit and then i'll test standstill again..
4 Phyrexian Dreadnought
4 tarmogoyf
4 Dark Confidant
4 Brainstorm
4 force of Will
3 Daze
4 Stifle
2 Trickbind
3 Thoughtseize
3 Counterbalance
3 Sensei's Divining Top
2 Engineered Explosives
3 Flooded Strand
3 Polluted Delta
4 Wasteland
3 Island
1 Swamp
3 Underground Sea
3 Tropical Island
As I said the list works well, I just have one doubt.
I'm not really sure of the 2 EE.
What do you think about adding 1 more CB/Top? I think it would be great, but I would like some removal, maybe Smother, Diabolic Edict, or something else in MD. Or just keep EE that are a removal up to 3 cc that work for everything..
Any suggestions?
Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist
I'm wondering if some of the lists, that doesen't run spot removal, like StP or Snuff Out, miss them or not. A friend just built up a UG version, and it has no creatre kill or bounce whatsoever. Just 1 EE. Doesen't that make Standstill kind of worse, if you can't get dudes away before landing it?
( I have few to no experience on the deck, something tells me that Mishra's Factory doesen't cut it alone...)
Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist
I've been thinking about dreadstill and have a few questions:
1. bug or wug?
Discard/bob vs StP? What's been better?
2. What's the main weakness of the deck?
3. Has anyone tried a transformational sideboard?

I'm going to answer these questions in reverse order, if for no other reason than because I'm high as fuck.
3. I have never tried a transformational sideboard, but I always thought it wuld be absolutely insane if someone could make one that incorporated the breakfast combo. That would be hawt. I think we at least need 3 GY hate slots (2 Relic, 1 Crypt) and 3 Krosan Grip. That would leave 9 slots, 12 if you cut the GY hating slot.
2. I would say the main weakness of the deck is Krosan Grip. I really wish they never printed that one.
1. Well I would personally go with Ugr, but If you wanted to incorporate the Breakfast combo than you would need to go Ugw(keep in mind I'm ot even sure if this is possible yet, and I'm way to lazy to try and make a list. Plus I have to cure a serious case of the munchies).
Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist
Breakfast combo takes up too many spaces. I would say about 12. But is immune to Krosan grip. But fragile to all other creature removal. Plus, relics might come in if you play Goyf game 1.
Painter combo is less cards and has some synergy with trinket. But is weak to both creature and artifact hate, which you will see if you resolve a nought game 1.
One idea for transformational.
x amount of doomsday
1x Helm of awakening
1x Tendrils of agony
1x meditate
Or you could do LED's if you don't like helm.
Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist
That would still lose to Krosan Grip, which the opponent would surely side in if they run it.
You could just try transforming it into a more traditional Landstill build. Say, a UW build, then from the SB comes in Elspeth, Humility, Moat, etc. Not tested of course, just throwing ideas out there. Don't know what match-ups that would improve too.

Please read your post again.
You just dismissed an idea because of Krosan Grip and then suggested sideboarding Moat and/or Humility.

Me neither. If you're playing UBG, perhaps you should play Pernicious Deed. But ofcourse that's not so synergetic with CounterTop.

Krosan Grip on Dragon Breath!

Yeh, butt than yur opponnant wud need moar korsan greeps!
On a more serious note, I don't see the synergy between Phyrexian Dreadnought and Moat or Humility either.
Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist
Of course you'll take out Dreadnoughts for Elspeth and other Landstill win-cons such as maybe DoJ and/or Eternal Dragon. As for Humility/Moat coming in against Krosan Grip... Well, true. Maybe Wrath or something instead. Like I said, very rough and most probably not going to help against the really bad match-ups. I think.

Isn't it true that you drop humility, followed by four noughts. and when you choose, you blow up your own humility.
But seriously, the fear of krosan grip is not as bad in these sideboard transformational boards. The problem with grip is the 2 for 1 deal.
Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist
Has anyone tried Kira to protect Dreadnought? I used them both in my Merfolk list and they worked really well.
