But seriously, I am kind of sick of dealers at those events selling at price level infinite. I think VERY few people are that stupid anymore/don't have access to real time price guides. Ebay is so good and so on your side as a buyer, why would I pay your insane markup, random dealer person? It can be very frustrating since I would RATHER give a real store or dealer my money, but they're not letting me.

I've bought some pretty harshly priced cards from vendors at events, just to use said cards in a tournament. Nothing too expensive, but just this spring I paid $20 for a Maelstrom Pulse when I could've gotten it for half that price from another player. You only ask around for so long before getting desperate :)

thanks for the info honestly i loved that trops you have..

There aren't people this dumb still out there, are there?
I mean, come on, it takes how many minutes to check the prices of these cards online? They don't do even a quick search for "Mox ____" after finding these in their attic?
Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
So I'm pretty sure this is my first post here, and I'm hoping that this is an appropriate place considering I see more pimp here than the red light district, but how does an average shmuck like me manage to get into owning a collection of pimp cards? I've seen like 99.9% of the posts in this forum, and I'm wondering how you all manage to find some of the rarities you do, considering that a lot of these cards can't be found on big name MTG retailers.
Also, I have to give a huge kudos to all the users that post in here, you blow my mind sometimes

I don't know about others, but I was lucky enough to get many of my cards before they spiked in value.
Other than that, like any other hobby, you just really need to have disposable income (not having kids helps!).
For the rarer stuff, it's really about having connections and knowing people (I'm not claiming I'm in this group of individuals since the stuff I tend to like isn't that hard to find).

Disposable income would be an understatement for new legacy players let alone legacy players trying to pimp their decks. Its more like you need a small fortune.

If you notice most ppl in this thread are the same ballers that have been posting. There are not many new posters to this thread. Most have been playing for a long time. Some have hoarded valuable and trade those for pimp stuff. Beta/alpha duals are gonna be tour most expensive cards to find generally unless you ball outrageous like occam.
Play set of duals is like 5-7k now maybe. Beta duals are maybe 30-40k for a decent playset. Beta power is 10-15k. Foil fetch lands play set is 5-8k
Personally ive been playing since tempest but i was too young like 10, to realize the value or investment potential. I still made out like a bandit with minimal investment but paying 10$ for duals helps as does buying a lot of excess early on.
Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
I wouldn't consider myself wealthy, I just save my pennies and buy lots of cardboard.
I've picked up a decent amount of smaller pimp stuff in the last month (100 and under). I did have a Alpha Chaos Orb, but I think someone snagged it from the booth at GP Portland :(
When I'm not lazy, I'll post a picture of some Beta stuff I've picked up.
Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
See, it's not only kids that take away magic funds, girlfriends do the same thing :(. Maybe someday we can all ball like occam though.
I heard there was a Facebook group or something dedicated to pimps no? Also, I remember seeing a deck in here with Summer Kird Apes and those test print Lightning Bolts. Anyone seen that deck in a while?

Ive never met you but just from seeing the stuff you have posted id guesstimate your collection over 50k. Most ppl who play magic would consider 50k more than just saving pennies

Tell the girlfriend she's a liberated woman and can pay for her own stuff :)
Re: [DO NOT TRY TO SELL IN HERE] Pimp Legacy Decks
I was feeling sad at not posting in this thread for a while so I bought 2 Moat's to cheer myself up. It then occurred to me that I'm 1/2 way to being a Juggernaut so I think I'll have to buy the other 2....
The recruiters I've had for a couple months but I figured I'd post them because 1) a playset of english non-foil recruiters are rare and 2) It's something sdmatt doesn't have.

Money. Time. Patience.

Have I ever told you to forth and fornicate with yourself? Now you've just made me want to buy a set and play pimped out Painter with a full Summer basic manabase. Sigh. 5 Summer Mountains are on their way...

I'm pretty sure these guys are just wizards employees who sit at a press ala day and print crazy amounts of pimp cards, then act like normal everyday humans on the internet

Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it, these cards really exploded in the last five years. I was able to buy in before these cards took off. The Modern format really helped quit a bit. There is nothing like selling shocklands and buying Beta duals.

Disagree!
1) Taking candy from a baby
2) Abrupt Decaying ALL the Delvers
3) Settling on a $25k deal for Beta duals which involves buying dessert for the seller, then asking the waitress for a spoon and eating half the dessert anyway.
I felt like scum that day, but I regret nothing.

Don't lie, I saw the grin on your face when you got that spoon.

Little expenses in life and I rarely spend money on anything else but Magic. Those who know me know this is true. Hopefully I'll meet you at GP San Antonio.

I'm now in buffalo, so my next event will probably be GP jersey.
