I took out an extirepate. What else should i take out? Thanks in advance. I'm not that good with this deck yet.

Went 2-3 today. Lost to 43 land x2, Bant, won against maverick and ravager affinity.
Played against 43 lands twice, never got to draw extirpates for loams/wastelands etc.
Is it just me or is our matchup pretty bad against 43 lands?
I was kind of kicking myself for not running mox diamonds today. Would have won me the games, most likely
Than again when they open up with double exploration + waste + ghost quarter + tabernackle + Loam...
Or when you Thoughtseize their exploration to have them top deck another one right after.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure most decks that use mana have bad matchups against 43 Lands.
You also lost to the 43 land nutdraw. I'm not surprised. If you have to play things or attack, you'll lose to that.
The deck is disgustingly good in a slower meta, that's why I'm all for the Extirpates. But, there's only two people in my area that can afford it (myself and my friend).
I was playing against Lands and had 2 Crypts in hand. I get rid of 2 Loams with one Crypt and another with the last Crypt. Of course he had the 4th Loam. So ridiculous.

Oh well, most of my other games were pretty close and fun.
Kinda wish I played storm today, I only played against one deck that used counterspells (Bant), lol.
I quite like this deck though, seems to have answers for everything, and has a decent matchup against the field.
It has few amazing matchups, but with that, few poor matchups.

Hey guys. I've been a Merfolk player for the longest time and wanted to pick up junk/rock. I built rock quite a while back but reading over the past five orso pages of posts I realized a lot of my build seemed obsolete. Here is my current build:
Bgw loaming rock
Mana (24):
3x verdant catacomb
3x marsh flat
3x windswept Heath
1x forest
1x plains
1x swamp
2x bayou
2x savannah
2x scrubland
2x mishra's factory
1x bojuka bog
2x wasteland
1x maze of ith
Creatures (16):
3x noble heirarch
1x birds of paradise
3x tarmogoyf
3x qasali pridemage
2x stoneforge mystic
3x knight of the reliquary
Other Spells(20):
2x sylvan library
3x maelstrom pulse
4x sword to plowshares
2x pernicious deed
2x life from the loam
4x duress
1x cabal therapy
2x mox diamond
1x batterskull
I read a lot about the awesomeness of hymn. Is it so absoutely backbreaking that it's an auto 4x in every deck? If so, I feel the deeds (terrible dissynergy with a permanent based deck...?) and the library would be the first to go. Also, given my large number of higher cmc spells and absence of top should I include confidant? If so would some
combination of goyfs/heirarch/bop be cut for them?
Thanks for the criticism/input.
Avatar, I'd suggest the Deed but I'm sure everyone would tell you otherwise. You already have Pulse main and used properly, Pulse will accomplish a lot of what the Deed will do. You don't have to add everything though. Test out what you like. What you don't like can stay out.

On the Green Sun Package - I'm going to say the same thing I said when the knight package was being first though about, "Why play even play it if you're not going to adjust to it being there?"
Seriously, Goyf and Knight are not the only green creatures out there. I'm not saying everyone should be running Eternal Witness and Spore Frog. If you're going to play a tutor, play a tutor package that's worth it. GSZ should be doing more to gain you an advantage than getting the winners of the staring contest that graveyard dependent. There has got to be more than those 2.
-----
Randomly.anonymous (R.A) - With the Loams and the higher land count I feel like you could run a full set of Diamonds. The 2 Deeds could be EE's easily.
just modified.
2x enlightened tutor
1x ethersworn canonist
1x gaddock teeg
1x null rod
1x thrun
1x diabolic edict
2x pithing needle
2x pernicious deed
1x engineered explosive
3x extirpate
i think i'm gonna take a gofy out for a scryb ranger in the MD. what do you think?
Looks like we got a new toy...Skinshifter to replace goyf.
Skinshifter - It's not Goyf all the time but goyf also can't dodge moat or block anything 'large'. This can at least Force a Knight to put 6 lands in the yard. It can also force sword damage to the player for those of you playing swords (Because Trample, is a big deal).
It's only got two really big issues: 1) It's a 1/1 making it prone to all of the removal in the format (even Darkblast). 2) You can only activate once per turn.
I don't think it's a flat out replacement (yet) but it's the best option there is once it's printed. Everyone's thoughts here are pretty much what got said about Goyf as well. I Think this is a good option for people who can't get or don't have access to Goyf(s).

Avatar, I think that's a fine idea. Keeping yourself limited to a forest on your turn and only for the time you need it makes you unable to be Submerged as well. You can always play the spell, then bounce your forest before passing priority. It also saves them from Wastelands, which most people won't do if you GSZ@2. They'll assume your getting goyf.

Guys, I designed something new. It's somewhat similar to Rock in terms of playstyle and I know a couple of you are interested in the stuff I run, so I thought I'd post it here. If you guys play around with it at all, let me know what you think!
I was actually just doodling Legacy Jund lists in class the other day. You read my mind. I'll try to contribute...eventually.
-Matt
I messed with Jund lists a while back. I'm not sure that now is the best time for it. White gives you Swords and SFM, which is arguably one of the best creatures in Legacy right now. Red gives you Bolt and Lavamancer.. and Bloodbraid I guess? Jund should have more firepower against aggro decks, but really I haven't been having problems getting Batterskull online.
But you can play Pulse in that deck as well, which is fine. My problem is, you lose beaters in Jund.
You basically get: Tarmogoyf, Bloodbraid Elf, Dark Confidant, Grim Lavamancer, and possibly Flametongue Kavu. You don't get a huge beater like Knight. But, that's not necessarily a bad thing. You could also run 4x Birds of Paradise and run 4x Magus of the Moon. That's a freaking beating. With GSZ, you could also run the birds and more basic Forests to be able to GSZ for them under a Blood Moon. Hmm...
