My meta has Landstills and Aggro (Gobbos, Folks and Zoo). What deck I should pick that doesn't scoop to Lands?
yeah, I was thinking about TES but I dont know if it's a good idea, can anyone else help me? thanks
do you think in this metagame canadian would be a good idea?
Dark Depths 6
Dredge 5
Goblins 7
Survival 8
Elves 4
Zoo 15
What should i play if i expect to face alot of dredge and belcher?
Probably Stax is your best shot. Trinisphere and Ghostly Prison are things that neither Belcher nor Dredge like to face.
TES is also an (risky) option, as it can race Dredge and Duresses, Orim's Chants and Silences can stop Belcher.
Anything with FoWs/Dazes/Stifles maindeck to handle Belcher and graveyard hate in the sideboard is fine, too.
Help with my sideboard for a meta that looks like...
Dredge - 2 of this
TES - 1-2 of this, sometimes one doesn't play it
G/W Survival
MUC
Merfolk - 1-2, one is UG Merfolk
Team America
The Gate
Canadian Threshold
Survival Elves
Goblins - 2 or 3
Zoo
Reanimator - used to be there before the MTutor ban, dunno if it'll come back.
so yeah, pretty diverse. I'm running this deck, minus the FoWs, Enlightened Tutors, and Duals, simply because I don't have them. I have Spellstutter Sprite in there, and a set of Dazes; also running SoFI. More of a tempo deck with a combo finish I suppose without the FoW and ETutor, but, whatever. It works.
Anyway, my sideboard looks like:
2x Krosan Grip
4x Tormod's Crypt
4x Spell Pierce
3x Pithing Needle
2x Hydroblast
Thoughts/opinions?
What about a meta with:
Elves
Goblins
2 Counterbalance
Bant Survival with retainers
TES
Dredge
Canadian Thresh
What's a good deck against a meta of mostly landstill and merfolk? Goblins?
Yea; Gobs w/ Green for Enchantment/Artifact hate, Zoo w/ md Teeg if agro isn't that popular, Lands, Dredge...
Anything fast that wins before Landstill gets it's mid-late game on (or in Lands case a deck that has a game plan that is superior to Landstill's). A deck that doesn't play Islands and has an abundance of removal should be well placed against Merfolk. Goblins and Zoo are especially appealing because they give you REBs in the board to make life even easier vs both those deck types.
I have this metagame in my town, what deck do you think would be the best to defeat them?
Merfolks 2
Dredge 3
Goblins 4
Dark Depths 2
Zoo 3
Mono Black 1
Eva Green 2
Landstill 2
Doomsday 1
Elves 1
Survival 1
Fish 1
Lands 1
Maverick 1
Countertop 2
thanks!!!
I have a meta that consists of lots of gobs and folk and mid-range(G/W/B, B/W, and G/B) and a bit of U/G/r counterbalance, with also a small number of storm, burn and lands. I would prefer something not Blue, so what would my best option be? Thanks in advance.
I guess Naya Zoo would be pretty good. It smashes tribal and eva green, and the rock should be very doable as well.
I got a fast changing meta, full of almost everything you can imagine.
From NewHorizons, Reanimator, CounterTop, Goblins, Merfolk, Belcher, Lands to random Rogue decks - there is just everything showing up.
Any suggestions for this :D ?
Isn't it a bit silly to ask for what deck to play in a very diverse metagame? Compared to a meta that's mostly Deck A and Deck B, diverse metas with Decks A to Z can't be prepared for much. Just go ahead and play what you want, since you could never have good match-ups agaisnt everything.
What would you play in this meta?
- Meervolk (40%)
- rest is quite diverse (Zoo, Stax, CB-Top, Rock, Enchantress, Landstill, Faeries, PainterStone)
except:nothing which really abuses the graveyard, no combo, no Bant
GW Survival seems pretty good for that Meta as you have a good Merfolk MU and the absence of combo is also fine.
Goblins with a green splash for Krosan Grip and a black one for Warren Weirding and Perish
local meta is composed mainly by:
Goblins (at least 2-3)
Zoo (2-3)
Vampires
Aggroloam WGB
Bant Aggro / Pro Bant
Faeriestalker (1 or 2)
Merfolk
WG Equipments
Lands
Imperial painter
Emrakul.deck
Death and taxes (very very well piloted)
The Gate /black aggro
TES
What do you think of Ub Merfolks? i feel having nice MUs with everything excluded Zoos, lands and D&T.
Actually D&T is my nigtmare Matchup.
What else could i play among Blue based decks? (as i have all the staples to play U, except Jace 2.0)
i was thinking of New Horizon....or maybe faeries Urg (already planned to get goyfs)
Thoughts?
What beats a meta consisting of mainly:
TES
Merfolk
Survival Madness
Landstill
I want to suggest Ur merfolk here,. Reb's in the board should put the mirror match in your favor, and depending on survival/landstill builds they could be very good there too. Lightning bolt (again board) can be important if TES is running xantid swarm or bob in the board...and again is very good in the mirror. The bolts are also good vs. any goblins/zoo u come across where your countermagic is weak.
How about a meta with the following decks:
Death and Taxes
Aggro Loam
Aggro Elves
Aggro Slivers
GW Survival
Dredge
Faeries (UB)
UW Tempo
Aggro Bant
I already own a Merfolk deck but I am looking to switch to another.
It looks like a pretty aggressive meta, so I'd recommend running with combo. TES or Show and Tell ought to both work quite well in a meta so lacking in countermagic. Does not look Merfolk friendly, some form of control could work as well. Counter top or 4c/5c control are both built to handle creatures, though it can get to be a fairly expensive deck to build if you're including Moats and Goyfs.
Thanks mate for the tips.
I'm thinking about heading towards a Mighty Quinn deck against the aggro decks in the meta. How do you think this deck would fare against my meta?
As for my Merfolk deck, I may have to run Spreading Seas in the main and cards like Hibernation in the SB.
What for a meta usually like this,? Considering that the number of ichorids and vengevine survival will increase... thanks
AGGRO: 26, 41% (28)
Zoo (10)
Survival Vengevine (7)
Goblin (6)
Dragon Stompy (2)

Planeswalker Bant (5)
Rock (5)
Survival MOST (2)
Survival Rock (2)

I'm currently building a Goblins deck in a meta with mostly:
Lands
Survival Vengevine
Loyal Retainers Survival
MUC
Affinity
Goblins
Merfolk
Any tips for such a meta?
If you had to play goblins, I'd use a black splash here, just for the SB. Go to Boblin thread to check an MD you like, and I'd play with a SB more a less like this:
4 Pyroknesis (Survival + Goblins + Merfolk and maybe Affinity)
3 Earwig Squad (Lands and MUC (get their wincons) and maybe Loyal Retainers Survival (never played))
3 Pithing Needle (Survival and Affinity (maybe Lands (Maze of Ith and Zuran Orb))
2 Red Elemental Blast (MUC and Merfolk)
3 Shattering Spree (Affinity and maybe MUC (if it's playing things like Shackels and stuff))
Hello.
What about a meta like this:
Goblins, Faeries, Zoo, WW, Hypergenesis, MUC, Burn, Elves, Affinity.
I'm thinking about Trisomy, Rock-based decks, Deadguy, Pox.
What will be the best choice?
ANT, TES or another combo deck looks the best in this meta. Dredge also has a good matchup against every one of those decks. Also in that metagame people may not be packing much sideboard hate for the graveyard.
Out of the decks you posted some sort of BGW Rock would probably be the best. Engineered plague looks good in that metagame with goblins, faeries and elves all being soft to it. Pernicious deed is also good against the majority of that metagame.
Something like this is probably a good place to start.
Maindeck:
Artifacts
3 Mox Diamond
3 Sensei's Divining Top
Creatures
4 Dark Confidant
4 Knight of the Reliquary
4 Tarmogoyf
Enchantments
1 Pernicious Deed
Instants
4 Swords to Plowshares
Sorceries
2 Gerrard's Verdict
4 Hymn to Tourach
4 Thoughtseize
4 Vindicate
Basic Lands
1 Plains
2 Swamp
Lands
2 Bayou
1 Horizon Canopy
4 Marsh Flats
1 Maze of Ith
3 Scrubland
4 Verdant Catacombs
4 Wasteland
Legendary Lands
1 Karakas
Sideboard:
4 Engineered Plague
3 Kataki, War's Wage/ 3 Path to Exile (both great against affinity Kataki is obviously much narrower)/3 Extirpate, etc (if you need grave hate)
2 Pernicious Deed
3 Krosan Grip
3 Duress
-Cheers-
Hi guys, I expect:
ANT
Merfolk
Gob
Burn
Enchantress (maybe)
Stax (maybe)
Rock
D&T
Affinity (maybe)
Countertop Thopter (maybe)
Survival
Basically, no Zoo, no Dredge and nothing with Loam, and nothing too fringe. Any suggestion as to what this meta is weak to? Btw, I can build pretty much anything.
What about this meta...
Countertop (URG with Phyrexian Dreadnought and a list with UBG with Maelstrom Pulse, Kitchen Finks and Dark Confidant)
Merfolk (Mono U & U/W)
Survival (G/W & U/B with Necrotic Ooze)
Goblins
Zoo
Thresh
Dredge
Burn
Natural Order Bant
Sneak Attack/Show and Tell
Hive Mind Combo
and several jank decks
Some varient of Ux Jace decks, probably UWr Landstill or Ugbx Landstill. You don't have any other control decks other than CB (which is not a difficult match for Deedstill), so you could tune the deck to be as fast as possible and still have a better lategame than all the aggro. No Tendrils combo, and a lot of U-decks make UWr a solid choice due to the 3-4 red blasts in the board and 2-3 MD Firespout ruins most of that metagame.
Check one of the landstill threads. You have a very similar metagame in which I play, albeit with more Tendrils decks, and I have tuned my Landstill decks to play completely with the curve of the surrounding aggro with great results.
Good luck!
what do you think of this meta?
minor decks (sometimes 1x, sometimes 2x): Mono U faeries, dredge, Survival advantage WG, WB pikula, Burn, Tendrils, very rarely 43 lands, New Horizon, UW tempo, UWx landstill.
Major decks (almost always present in 2-3x): Merfolk mono U, Bant countertopgoyf/ProBant/Bant Aggro, Zoo, Gobbos mono R/ gobbos RG-RGB
i have the possibility of build 2 decks: Non Led dredge and UWB jaceless landstill (main wincons are elspeth/manlands/humility or Proteus staff into emrakul, trust me nice win con) what do you think is better to build?
