Ok, very very weird. Over @mtgsalvation they said, WotC never ever banned something in Standard preemptively.

Is there any important tournament between this supposed "emergency" ban and the regular one next week? Otherwise a potential emergency ban of Emrakul in Standard wouldn't really make much sense to me.
And if there was, it would probably suck hard if you had your deck banned from under your feet, less than a week before an event you probably arranged travel+accommodation for.
It's basically back in standard, Felidar Guardian + Saheeli Rai. The cute part is that for 6 mana you can basically win on the same turn.
Is WotC going to emergency ban Saheeli Twin? #drumroll
Pro teams start testing as soon as the full spoiler is up, which was posted a few days ago. That would explain the early announcement if it's to do with standard so they don't waste a week of testing.
Saheeli Twin ban would be disappointing, and dumb.
Having to tap out turn 3 as opposed to EOT flash in makes it so much worse.
I doubt the combo is getting the axe. You can't possibly tell me they missed that in testing. I know a lot of shade is thrown at Wizards but they cant be that dumb. There is actually a few combos in the format right now, my fav uses the U/R man land and triggers that new dude with the counters. This shit can not have all been by accident.
I do not know enough about Standard to make a call, but I do know what the people on Reddit bitch about the most. If something is getting taken out, it's likely the Mindslaver.
Great news! I really hope CB or terminus get the axe. Will make for a much better metagame.
Authority of the Consuls is a card. I think they fully expected Neo-Twin it to be a thing.
Standard is still borked as current Wizards is too fucking stupid to print GY-hate for the format to keep GY-shenanigans in check while Emrakul drives away people in droves. I wouldn't be suprised if it got the axe. With the dwindling player growth, they can't afford a set that doesn't sell - and the current lackluster Standard meta certainly doesn't drive up sales.
As for Legacy, I expect no changes. Why?

See, now, Kaladesh is actually making me seriously consider playing Standard precisely because, from the spoiler, it looks a lot like legacy. A bunch of combo decks and control decks trying to do broken things -- sounds great!
I'm going to bet on Feldiar Kitty getting banned. The timing of the announcement seems strange for Emrakul, and it fits right in with the theory that Wizards just plain missed the combo in set design. I could be wrong, of course. If Emrakul gets the axe, then it shows Wizards knows what they are doing. If Kitty gets the axe, then it shows they went a little crazy but at least they did mean for combo to be present. If they ban a bunch of other combos in standard... then I guess they really had no idea what they were doing!
11am PST is a long way away. I see you all shiver with antici....
Griselbrand won two GPs in a row, just sayin :^)
Wouldn't be the first time WOTC missed something like that, they admitted they forgot about splinter twin when they printed deciever exarch
Banning the cat before it even got to standard without seeing any results at all would just prove that they simply just want to stomp combo out as quickly as possible. Sure it's a combo, but is it even good? I would say it gets hit by removal, but up until fatal push they simply said fuck removal and made it all shitty
Push is a little harder to trigger in standard because no fetches but there's also Grasp of Darkness which nukes the cat and a couple SB options.
Despite the fact I'm sure this timing change is due to standard, it doesn't mean they didn't already have plans for Legacy. Personally, I'd like to see a nuke dropped on the game with multiple bans and unbans (restrictions in Vintage). Most formats are a little stale. Let's get a shakeup.
C'mon guys, they're not going to ban a card before it's even released.
I think this is just Emrakul getting banned from Standard so pros don't waste a week of testing leading up to the PT.
