It is true that the Wolf Run is a plan B or C. Just going stompy. When the Eye gets wasted it has been useful to then fetch the Wolf Run and Tiaga with the Titan and swing for the win next turn with him or if he is dead a Oracle or Shaman, especially ifa Shaman has already pinged them for a few life. I had considered just a second Eye instead, but in the interest of speed I can see that maybe you could just power through with some ramping and digging with Ancient Stirrings, rather than the cute Wolf Run play, so I'll find room to put them back in. I do think you are right that a couple more removal spells are needed, maybe faster and less painful than Deluge like Disfigure or maybe even Murdeous Cut. Or perhaps a maindeck singleton Maelstrom Pulse as a fifth Decay and Jace killer.

I like TimHarding's build too. I have most of the cards for it and will try it out soon as well. My favorite legacy deck I play now is a Loam Pox Depths Plug mashup deck with Chalice and Trinisphere, Mox Diamond etc, and I can attest to the power of that type of build against most blue decks in particular. It gives them a lot to deal with besides your win condition. I'm not sure if a couple Loams or a couple Crucible would be best in a Tim-type list. It will take some playing to find out.

Went undefeated with this build today at my Weekly event. Matchups were MUD, Death and taxes, and RUG delver.

Unsure if Kruphix is right over oracle or something else entirely ala Surgical/BEB. Everything else feels strong.

I've been doing some more testing with Ugin as a 2-of, and...WOW. Just, WOW. I literally have not lost a game where he resolved. He is definitely the real deal. The only question now is how many to run? I'm thinking of going up to a 3-of. But I'm curious whether anybody's tried him as a 4-of? Is it good or is it too much?

ATM I play 2 Ugins, and it feels right. He is insane, no doubt! But there are MUs he is almost useless, like MUD, Storm, Reanimator...and I don't want to see Ugin in my opening 7. Finding him isn't that big deal to me playing SDT, Brainstorm plus many shuffle effects. For me, 2 is the correct number right now, 3 would be ok, depending on the meta, 4 are too much, I guess.

Personally, I like 1 MD and 1 SB Ugin. I think it all depends what is big in your metagame.

It's not even a "dead card" against MUD. You can still ghostfire metalworkers, revokers and lodestones. They have 2 turns to react to it before you ultimate, which in theory, should end the game as well.

I have run up against agro loam a couple of time and it is nearly impossible to beat them if they waste lock you. Were you just lucky enough to dodge the lock?

Not at all. The whole deck operates on Loam lock. Seal, surgicals, bog all fight loam lock directly.

Based on the average lands list, I'd say stopping Manabond and Exploration is probably enough justification alone. They also have several sideboard cards they could potentially be running that artifact hate hits.

From my experience Aggro loam isn't worst - it's R/G lands with Gamble - much faster and harder to beat.

Aggro loam plays chalice @ 1, the only card that can even come close to stopping your hate (Crop/Surgical).

R/G is even easier, since it can't run chalice. You roll them over with Repeal and Crop Rotate. Candelabra counters their ports, and vesuvas on basics means you can just get to 6 mana and windmill dorks. Additionally now Ugin exiles marit lieges and moment's peace isn't dead main. R/G Lands is a bye the matchup is so easy.

Seal answers all their answers. needle, chalice while also being able to hit their acceleration (manabond/exploration).

Honestly, the only reason the Aggro Loam player did so well against me was because he knows Titanpost in and out, as he is my teammate.

Went 4-0 in a weekly event against 4 horrific matchups: Big Red, Omni, Infect, MUD. I will post a list tomorrow, after the event I'm going to. As folks like to meta the night before against. Ultimate compliment.

Played a list similar to Tim Harding's today at a local only 10 people showed up, normally it is 30 something. No Revokers main with a 3rd library and 2 Ugins.

R1 1-1-1: elves we end up going to time there are a bunch of misplays on both sides. Was an odd slightly budgeted version with no cradles.
R2 1-2: elves lets just say that any game I did not see a COTV early on I died shortly there after. Trinisphere helped both games but were not enough.
R3 2-0: reanimator G1 I resolved a chalice at 1, and he had no business. G2 I resolve T2 chalice after he mulls to 5. he is able to decay it a few turns later then reanimates an Elish Norn, he tells me the only reason why it is there is because he needs targets to bring back. I get a prime time to bog away his binned Grizzlebanned and cast a spaghetti monster that has been sitting in my hand since T1.
R4: scoops because he cannot make top 4, which was nice of him

Miss top 4 because the reanimator player who is also out of top 4 scoops to the elves player from round 1 even though he pants him in the mock games they play, knocking me out on tie breakers. C'est la vie.

Synopsis, Ugin is a house, and hickory woodlot is also very good. I thoroughly enjoy this iteration of post and will continue to play it for the time being or until I find a moat for my rector nicfit list. Managed to live the dream once where I turn 1 chalice and turn 2 trinisphere, it was completely back breaking for my opponent.

"Lost" in top 8 against mud post where I win game 1 (mull to 4), "lose" game two when the head judge informs my opponent that they are missing their chalice of the void triggers while I'm committing to a win that turn with cmc 1 spells and opponent is letting them resolve (mull to 5), then game 3 (mull to 5). Ridiculously upset with the judge and incredible amount of mulligans.

Went to a win-a-moat tournaments today. Roughly 30 people showed up. This was the first tournament setting I played the deck in and ended up going 2-4. Round 1 - MUD

Game 1: He goes infinite on turn 2. I try to hold him off with moment's peace, but 4 extra cards from library can't get there.
Game 2: He doesn't have much going on early on. He plays a couple city of traitors and glimmerposts, which enable my cloudposts. I believe primeval titan takes over the game.
Game 3: I keep a questionable 6 and get blown out. I didn't feel like I would get a better 5, but my 6 was too slow. I probably should have mulliganed to 5.

0-1

Round 2 - Burn

Game 1: I was able to create a soft lock under sulfuric vortex at 8 with oracle, crucible, and chasm. I had to sac glacial chasm during my first upkeep because I didn't have enough life to sit under chasm until I won, and I couldn't risk taking damage before sac'ing the chasm. I got POP'd immediately and died.
Game 2: I was able to set up chasm and crucible under sulfuric vortex and let his vortex kill him.
Game 3: I was at 12. Two price of progresses later I was dead.

0-2

Round 3 - Dream Halls

Game 1: He gets dream halls into play and passes. I cast titan off gsz. He casts emrakul and swings. I swing with titan, get two glimmerposts, and go to 16. I attempt to gsz for titania, but it gets countered and I lose to emrakul.
Game 2: GSZ grabs teag early and wurmcoil beats down.
Game 3: He show and tells in omniscience. I drop in titan, hold priority during my titan trigger, and grip his omniscience. Titan takes over the game from there.

1-2

Round 4 - Nic Fit

Game 1: Deed wipes my board and sigarda + rhino beat me to death.
Game 2: Primeval and wurmcoil grind it out until I can cast emrakul.
Game 3: Same as game 2.

2-2

Round 5 - Shardless

Game 1: He resolves Lili + Jace and I can't draw anything relevant. Lili ultimates and eventually I don't have any permanents.
Game 2: I go all in on chalice at 1. I cast two diamonds discarding a cloudpost and a woodlot. I hope to recover while he's locked at 1, but he surgicals my cloudpost and I can't recover. In retrospect, this was the wrong play as he can just kill the chalice or ignore it.

2-3

Round 6 - Sneak and Show

Game 1: He combos out.
Game 2: He combos out.

2-4

Overall, I felt the deck was strong and most of the games went to 3. I'll probably try the UG version again, but I like how the mono green version is more proactive with its threats.

Revoker is important, IMO. There's a reason every pseudoprison deck runs 3-4. I've also found that the high creature count leaves enough breathing room to shave moments peace and add: 1x Library, 1x Wurmcoil, & 1x Sylvan (Medium GSZ target) - all of which were really great suggestions from this thread :)

Overall, I think UG remains more consistent, but if you enjoy proactive disruption, this can be very strong with practice. I would argue that land sequencing is the most important key to wins, even more important than regular UG.. Ihaven't traveled a lot for mtg lately but this has been a menace in some weeklys:

Guess I will drop Titania for Karn, like your 2:1 split of Ugin / Karn. What about that single Relic main? And I'm wondering about the 3 MP main, since your meta is a lot of combo, isn't it?

Btw, played a small tournament yesterday, like 12 people... Voted for 5 rounds... Anyway, went 4-0-1, 1st place :-)
MUs : Patriot, Maverick, BURG Delver, Merfolk and Miracles. Miracles was the last match to play, I won game 1, lost game 2 in 3rd or 4th extra turn under Blood Moon and opponent finally finds Entreat, getting him 4 Angels while I'm @2 life... Merfolk always feels like coin flip, they are really fast. Repeal, MP, Explosives and Ugin are MVPs! Maverick was close as well, 3rd we both drew really bad, not a nice match.

Sure, which is still quite different from "your most important card".

Chump blockers are valuable, though. I have recently tried to play with a full set of Coiling Oracles and some Trinket Mages just to have blockers to survive until the later game but most likely you are better off with something else since this strategy sucks against non-aggressive decks. Coiling Oracle is one of the cards that seem pretty much perfect on paper but in the game it forces you to top or Brainstorm at awkward times to get the land drop out of it. I'd love it to work but so far it's not so impressive.

Your most important card on the main for all those matchups, not specifically for burn. This is what Tim meant when he said that U/G is better overall. You don't give up matchups like Burn, MUD, or Big Red. Matchups where your CmC 1 spells win you the game.

Hope that they don't say... "I didn't want to buy Dark Confidants, so I opted to play 4x Hymn to Tourach instead." I definitely lost G3 of the premier IQ due to turn 2 hymn, untap hymn you again, untap goyf goyf pass.

I think its the hardest delver matchup by a mile. I think the key is making a SDT stick in play. They are going to try to attack your hand, your lands and your triggers. Card selection seems even more critical in that matchup. The have DRS, so that doesn't make Tabernacle that great either.

I've also had a very skilled BUG delver player never trigger delver flips on stifle, because they don't want to you know that they have it.

That's nice "maybe" in g1 and also if you have enough pressure & disruption otherwise. I don't know if it's worth it to just give up the +2 extra dmg to hide that info.
Stifle will always get you at least somehow even if you know about it, sometimes it cannot be avoided. Not every draw can play around it.

I went 3-0 today and 5-0 this last sunday with a maindeck that has 2 relic of progenitus, a 3rd in the side.

If you haven't heard yet, Wizards announced the fall set is "Battle for Zendikar." This obviously entails new versions of the three Eldrazi titans, and maybe even some other new toys for us. Looks like Christmas is coming early this year!

Good god this is excellent. I'm hoping for some better no basic fetch into play effects.... I'm not sure what else could improve the top end lol

A new version of Kozilek that Demonic Tutors when cast? Some kind of powerful hedron artifact that wins the game? A new Ugin?
