Since the "pimp status" is in the eye of the collectors and some people appear to be the pimp-police I think there is definitivly a connection there.

I dont care about pimp level, I have my decks like IIIII want and find them cool. Im not less pimp because I like the foil key. Its foil and also the flavour text is cooler. Thats some reasons I play it.
I just own 1 foil tezzeret of the others. If I play just 1 I play the other. But if I play more I play the promo ones. Also I like the duress a lot, there also pete venters who is one of my favourite artist, he has also done the tendrills. So...

That's the issue though isn't it, what people are posting is pretty mediocre and feeds into the trolling. At the end of the day, to each their own but it's pretty established that when one posts in a "PIMP" thread the cards should either be highly valuable or difficult to find (which could mean a less expensive but hard to find card). There's way too much emphasis put on neging the negative people when really its just a bunch of people with garbage collections compensating for their lack of effort.

If you want to post a bunch of MM or FNM cards feel free to visit MTG Salvation or the Reddit MTG sub.

I've just never understood the issue with setting a bar.

Those are cards I got during the french legacy cup. Haven't done much in regards to results but pretty happy with the trades. Everything that can be foil is, either french or english.

As for the expedition lands: beautiful pictures, but not full art, bad framing and bad foiling. If I ever get one I'll either trade or sell it immediately.

Should there be guidelines?
Should there be a separate thread for foil cards? Foreign cards? Old cards? Miscut cards? Maybe a Pimp Sub-Forum instead of a Pimp Thread? The Altered Card thread could probably go in there too.
Or do posters just risk getting flamed?

No one is coming in here just to post their FNM loot from 7 years ago. The entire deck posted was foil, and he chose to go with the FNM Brainstorms. Who gives a shit? Maybe it's not the most expensive or rarest deck possible but it's something he's proud of and wanted to show off. Pat him on the back and get on with your life.

I could also make a Fire and Lightning burn deck, and call that pimp?

The deck was beautiful, but the brainstorms stands out, due to simply being (by definition) the worse foil.

Like, he made a choice with regards to the Duress - Either you like that or you don't (Artwork is insane on those - even better in german ("Zwang")) which means that reasonable. The FNM foil is just poor compared to the mm, which is why you see people complain....

*Also, the biggest problem, is by far the lack of consistency in language. That's appearance 101.

He made a choice with the Brainstorms too. He said that he owns MM foils but specifically went with those because he wanted all the blue cantrips to match with the new border.
