There is so much wrong in this post. Not only am I insulted by such a narrow reading of Ancient Stirrings as a Legacy player, but even more so as Modern player that has played Ancient Stirrings for years.

1. Stirrings digs 5 deep for 1 mana.

2. Stirrings does not just find lands. There is a wide spectrum of colorless cards that are not lands, and to be honest, you should know what they are.

3. Stirrings is another means to clear a stagnate Sensei's Divining Top when the top 3 are abysmal.

But I'll concede the point if you can come back to me with testing results.

You don't have to agree with me. The person is looking for advice on what to cut for the new card. That was my suggestion. I would never cut top as the selection is a consistent permanent based dig card. That was completely incorrect and I was simply suggesting that I would cut stirrings before top. If you are on exploration you are probably better off curting stirrings as opposed to top.

Personally I wouldn't run that new green card. Stirrings passing over 2 titan and an oracle finding only a forest and vesuva without a post is tough. Passing over the Eldrazi you need and dig to get to them sounds way worse to me. In the green build getting your mana built up isn't as tough as it can be to find a threat. At least stirrings can give you an ugin, eldrazi, top or a needle. Awakening can only give you more of what you most likely already have and don't need much more of... land. I've been playing green post for 3 or 4 years on and off. I know the deck well and stirrings is never a card I would replace personally. If it HAD to make a cut. That is the cut I would make if forced to. Maybe natural order, but I think I'm the only 1 ŕunning it.

Looking over the list in question, I would cut the expedition maps.

played UG Post at gp lille.
Won a trial 5:0 on friday with it.

Then on day 1
Finally on 5-3-1 would probably 6:3 but i couldnt finish the last one becaude of times..:

Stirrings digs for threats too. My build is about 80% colorless in the maindeck, so it finds pretty much whatever I need. The only things it can't find are Crop Rotation, more Stirrings, or the various colored sideboard cards. Top is good, but it only sees three deep and requires a shuffle effect for maximum utility.

Exploration is always on the chopping block, however. I love seeing one in my opening, but it's a terrible topdeck in the mid/late game. Plus, it serves a similar ramping function as Awakening.

Monogreen 12 Post took 34th at GP Lille. I'm definitely digging the Trinisphere in the board to fight the OmniTell menace.

As I said later on, I love stirrings. I personally don't particularly like the idea of awakening. It definitely has potential, but I feel as though it is gimmicky and win more.

I recently tested exploration with oracle of mul daya. It was really broken when I had them both online. It was very good turn 2 when you play land 3, 4, and 5. I felt like if I had more land in that version it would have been much more insane. I wanted to test with 2 courser and 3 oracle with 4 exploration and 4 tops. It could be a great way to ramp quickly off your top decks.

Congrats, I like the list a lot. Did you find that 4 trap was too many or really necessary? Just curious. Seems to really help combo match up. Mostly when you can float it on top and then top to draw against storm. Then again you have 4 sphere there. I have been considering it a lot lately. Any changes you think you would make?

I'd love to hear more about your experiences with Dark Depths. Do you go for the combo when you already have one piece or do you spend multiple tutors to get both halves? What matchups did it work best/worst in?

Love to see the deck played in big tournaments, although i still can't find the replay of the match that was supposedly on camera? i missed it yesterday :cry:

On another note after playtesting the UG version i realized i'm too dumb to play it, hopefully temporarily. I'm having trouble with sensei not to mention brainstorm :rolleyes: i get distracted and confused and can't find a good line to play. Will stick with monoG until i get the feeling for sensei and the deck in general. UG is just too hard to play for a novice player like me. Tropicals going into the binder :laugh:

It was a Blast to play and give me some Points i want to change. I playing a Anti Storm and Omnitel SB.
I don't like permanent hate like Chalice and Sphere because it's slow you down also with Counters and maybe tap yourself out...
Only Trinisphere against omni seems ok but i like Venser more because he has more flexibility and he's blue.
First i wait for the new Bann list.

I did some testing with Dark Depths and Thespian's Stage as well and really really liked it! Stage alone is fine in the deck, as it can copy Cloudpost or basics to stay protected from Wastelands, and with 3—4 Crop Rotations it's quite easy to find DD (or Stage, whatever is missing). Against many decks Marit Lage can win you the game (e.g. BUG) or it gives you 20 life AND opponent has to "waste" Swords for it instead for the Prime Time. If opponent doesn't play Wastelands, you can consider grabbing both with Prime Time as well.

I tried a lot DD+stage..... Stage in main is good, absolutely. So many trick with glacial chasm, maze, cloudpost. Depths I think is a good sideboard card. In main deck it's very hard to sacrifice a slot for a doubt win card. Against any deck with StP I don't think it's good to make the opponent waste a StP for marit instead of titan: we also wasted 2 land drop to build marit, I don't care if I have 20 hit points more. I need to ramp (in monoG version at least), loosing 2 land is not so good in my opinion.
But with some decks, like burn, elf, bug, MUD, can be an easy condition.
I'd put in maindeck if it gave me mana.....
Personally, at the moment it's not in my sideboard, I'm searching something better for the matchups above. Depths is indeed slow, I cannot have marit before 4th turn, and against wasteland and liliana if I don't find a needle it's very hard to build the combo.

Since I have natural order I have been running an elderscale wurm in the board as a NO target. That alongside chasm and glimmer posts should be more than enough to beat burn and elves. Burn can bolt/blast it, but that is a huge investment for them to make. Elves downright cannot beat that card aside from deathrite activations and we can needle that to buy additional time before we just take over the game. It probably isn't perfect against elves, but in theory it seems fine to me. The sheer size and thanks to CMC usually can't be answered by bug.

1) i like 4 trap in this decks because of situations with top, that you wrote. Dont want to cut. Cause trap is so sweet against omni

2) spheres is ok, but i think i would cut 1 to put second trenesphere. Because is like to side in trini against everybody with 4+ cantrips. And dont like to side sphere of resistance in these mu

Well. I think that dark depths- it is first of all a wild card of this deck. I dont play it in ug post. Cause for me ug posts- it is a combo, that casts show onto turn 3 into titan. Here in monoG lands_postswe have another situation. We can make our table, defendings against wastelands by needlem against crestures by maze and so on. And in this process we use stage of course. TO copy maze, post and so on. And then if you play against deck without counters you can just make a kill for one turn, using crop, if u have stage on table. Thats why i like this card

Most of all i like this card against non white delvers, jund, elves, mud and dnt in second game. Against miracles it do nothing =( but mu is good so no problem for me

I thinik depth combo is very good against combo. Cause we all together live under spheres and can do nothing. This fellow can win us a game right now

i went combo rather often. Even using crop(not afraid to lose land). Of course we should be very careful in playing DD, because of Karakas. I dont think, that stp into token is a big problem. Cause we gain 20 life and have a lot of time to repair our table

yes yes, with Natural Order the deck changes a lot, and so the sideboard. Wurm is perfect with natural, sure.

I had a crazy thought earlier tonight: Alhammarret's Archive:

Here's what it does in the deck:
- MASSIVE lifegain with Glimmerpost
- Draw 8 with Kozilek
- Turn 2 Tops into a draw engine. Because you net a card when you tap one to draw, you'd be able to use the other Top to draw it back, plus another card. This would effectively make the two Tops into "1: Draw a card."
- In the UG builds, Brainstorm is draw 6, put back 2.

I don't know if this is too cute, but it seems like it might warrant testing.

Went 3-1 at a local tournament today with my previous list but -1 Moment's Peace +1 Top and -1 Grip and +1 Sage in SB. Beat reanimator 2-1, annihilated Lands and 4-color delver, and lost a close game 3 to burn where my draws did not at all come together. Observations:

Reanimator: Manually thawed Marit Lage wins after Bojuka Bog exiles 3 Griselbrand and a Tidespout Tyrant. Dark Depths' being uncounterable was key here. Delver: Primeval Titan for Glimmerposts puts the match away.
Burn: Previously I was 4-1 and satisfied with this matchup, but this time it did not go well. Finding Chasm was easy enough but today I could not manage to cast Titan for Glimmerposts after getting Chasm in play, nor did I have enough life for an Ugin ultimate. I have a few ideas for this matchup (limited to green creatures because of GSZ):

1) Elderscale Wurm - Mentioned by others. If I used Natural Order I would like this more, but requiring GGG to hard cast or 8 mana with GSZ makes it seem slow to me. Also the additional 7-10 damage required to kill the Wurm and offset any lifegain it provided doesn't seem prohibitively difficult for burn, especially if PoP is involved. Maybe I underestimate the Wurm?
2) Trostani, Selesnya's Voice - Still doesn't really solve the problem of winning with Chasm in play and she's very difficult to cast, but usually casting Eldrazi behind Chasm doesn't really do much and Trostani changes that. I bring this card up mostly for the hilarious fact that she can populate Marit Lage tokens for 20 life apiece.
3) Dragonlord Dromoka - A solution that I think can realistically work well. With her in play, you can decline to pay for Chasm and have that one turn to do as you please without fear of PoP. Unlike Elderscale Wurm, Dromoka can be saved from Bolt+Fireblast using Karakas and is nearly as easy to put in play as Primeval Titan. Dromoka also seems relevant against more decks than the Wurm. If I can find a Dromoka this is the approach I am going to try.

I thought exactly the same!! and with scroll rack......uau. But it's hard to choose something to remove for it....it's a wonderful card, but it has nothing to do with the "ramp idea", I cannot remove a map/stirrings/titan for this, neither a ugin/oblivion (they protect me in a wonderful way) or special lands like tabernacle, maze, bojuka.....very hard decision

Also the additional 7-10 damage required to kill the Wurm and offset any lifegain it provided doesn't seem prohibitively difficult for burn, especially if PoP is involved. Maybe I underestimate the Wurm?
2) Trostani, Selesnya's Voice - Still doesn't really solve the problem of winning with Chasm in play and she's very difficult to cast, but usually casting Eldrazi behind Chasm doesn't really do much and Trostani changes that. I bring this card up mostly for the hilarious fact that she can populate Marit Lage tokens for 20 life apiece.
3) Dragonlord Dromoka - A solution that I think can realistically work well. With her in play, you can decline to pay for Chasm and have that one turn to do as you please without fear of PoP. Unlike Elderscale Wurm, Dromoka can be saved from Bolt+Fireblast using Karakas and is nearly as easy to put in play as Primeval Titan. Dromoka also seems relevant against more decks than the Wurm. If I can find a Dromoka this is the approach I am going to try.

honestly, I think all the solutions above are too slow against a burn. Of course, if they enter the battlefield is gg, the problem is.....IF. Again burn I think the best solutions, without blue, is to slow it down with spheres (that are very good also for other decks, so you don't waste slots on side) and finish it with depths. Or if you have space in sideboard, put a circle of protection and you are going to win the game easily (the only problem is that you cannot tutor it in any way, so you have to draw it or search with top). Glacial chasm is usefull only in response to a PoP: you can keep it for a turn maximum, 'cause meanwhile the opponent will fill his hand with shots (instants, by the way) and blast you during the first upkeep without chasm.

I can absolutely see this in the deck as a 1 of. Not sure what I would replace it for but it is definitely something I would want to try in my Mudd post deck. As for mono G post there is also the fact that if you run explore you get to draw 2 off it giving you a better chance at utilizing that extra land drop and dig deeper later in a game. I will certainly be testing with it. It is completely possible that 1 candel can be replaced with this. It seems that this could allows us to draw deeper with all the examples given and find a 1 of candel or just everything else we need, quicker.

What's this brew about? At first glance it looks like horrible starting 7, many dead cards the first 2-3 turns?
Saw Alhammarret's Archive @prerelease today and will try to find a slot for this card. Besides the card-draw, the life gain x2 buys many turns against fair decks..

Has anyone considered the possibility of Nissa's Revelation? Draw 15, gain 15 sounds like a decent backup plan, although it's much more painful to think about it going wrong.

Budget considerations aside, shouldn't the most competitive version of the deck run 4 candles? I mean it is one of the strongest cards in the deck right? wouldn't it be reasonable to run 4 MB in any version? I'm no expert and i haven't really played competitive legacy, but it seems that the deck should run 4 of them. in addition to cloudposts it untaps any land we need to use more than once in a turn...

4 Candelabra sounds sweet, but IMO 2 should be the maximun. Without Cloudposts in play it "only" does some color - fixing, but no ramp. I tried 4 and didn't like it at all. For me it's a 2-off or 1-off plus Trinket Mage, depending on the list you run.
