Has anyone considered adding a single Tundra and Academy Ruins in the KotR lists at least in the sideboard? Seems like it would be a nice recursion package against blue decks.

Has anyone considered adding a single Tundra and Academy Ruins in the KotR lists at least in the sideboard? Seems like it would be a nice recursion package against blue decks.
Sounds fine except for the fact that especially in KoTR builds you want to have Choke in your sideboard which makes the plan a little less effective. Could be good though because you also have Mox Diamonds to help give you access to blue when you need it.
I think the advantage of KOTR is much greater post geddon, as others have mentioned. Also fetching a Maze of Ith could be very useful in certain situations.
If cost is the deciding factor to make you run KOTR over Baneslayer, you're probably not running Tabernacle since this would cost more than a couple of Angels.
The advantage of Baneslayer is it wins the game on it's own (...sort of). If you have a chalice out at 1 and you resolve a Baneslayer that's usually GG. Even if your opponent has a beater, the lifelink will usually mean you'll win the race.
The downsides is it has less synergy with the other cards in the deck, and i've found the 2 white in the casting cost to be annoying if you try and drop him early.
Basically this boils down to money, versatility, and ultimately personal preference in which you want to play. If you just want to win play Baneslayer because then you never have to ask yourself if you want to use the ability or attack like you have to with KoTR. I'm probably going with KoTR personally because I don't have the money for BSA right now and know that Knight is better than Exalted Angel.
it s not a money question. It s a common sense question.
i had the money and chose to get a tabernavle VO mint rather than 2 baneslayers. As baneslayer is a 15/20$ card massively overpriced at this current time. Tabernacle price will not likely drop ever. So spending 90/120$ on 30/40$ cards seems stupid to me. I d NERVER change my tabernacle for 2 or even 3 baneslayers. And KotR is more fun anyway, and fits the deck strategy.
Alright fine, I'm done mentioning money I promise. Played a little bit with the deck tonight with a deck I had randomly built just to play against my friend and I wasn't a huge fan of KoTR. For the most part he was tough to cast because I needed GW and his ability was sort of underwhelming to be honest. More often than not I did not have one of my 5 Plains or 1 Savannah in play and therefore could not tutor for a land. Furthermore, tutoring for a land was only good when I had Crucible and could replay one of my few Plains or Savannah. A few games clearly does not prove anything, but aside from being a pretty good beater later in the game, KoTR seemed to never get there for me without the aid of an unlikely situation occurring in my favor or me totally overwhelming my opponent by the late game.
I gave knight a little bit of a test and didn't like it either. I was running 2 of them, then I realized that I had tabernacle in the deck to be fetched with knight as well as a bunch of other lands. So I dropped a Magus for another knight and it worked a lot better. I''ll Give Baneslayer a test soon.
how do people feel about maindecking a moat or two?
Probably shouldn't be done if you're running Knight, since all your win conditions are on the ground... I've stuck to the ghostly prisons, though, if for no other reason than deck synergy.
I dont play Stax, I dont know if this is playable in Legacy but in Vintage its the SHIZNIT! http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=212319!
The first thing I'd worry about is how full the 4cc slot is already getting, but it at least looks interesting.
Even when not considering ww as a casting cost you still have to be a little careful about too many 4cc in a deck. We have the geddons, the stacks, the magus, just need to be careful.
It does work well with the geddons. I'll workstation it a bit now.
Indeed WW cost is an issue. I don't know if this new guy fits perfect in the deck because the proportion of non - artifact / artifact spells we run. Maybe the Brown staxx is a better place for it.
Ans by the way...do you consider crappy running 3 Trini + 4 Smokestack instead of 4 Trini + 4 Smokestack??
Personally I try to run either 4 and 4 or 4 trini and 3 smokestack if it comes down to only room for 7.
