24 lands seems a bit low. My version runs 26 with only 3 city of traitors, and I still have problems drawing what I need sometimes, especially after a geddon.
Also, try out Kor Haven. You'll probably find you like it more than you expect.

I was ruunig 25 lands, and went back to 24. Now i don't know what cut off. I like kor haven, but the problem is the same.
If we wanto to keep this pack:
4 CotV
4 TS
4 CoW
it's hard to make a choice. Maybe i could cut a magus.
Could you show it to me??
Hi everyone, I'm totally new to this forum since I have been lurking around the dark shadows as a guest for a while and finally decided to register and post . When I saw this deck it caught my eye since I like to laugh to myself when my opponent is not capable of doing anything which this deck provides exactly. I've tried out many versions of stax and I am currently using this list:
Lands
3 Wasteland
2 Savannah
4 Ancient Tomb
3 Mishra's Factory
1 Kor Haven
1 Horizon Canopy
3 Flagstones of Trokair
3 City of Traitors
5 Plains
Creatures
1 Knight of the Reliquary
1 Exalted Angel
2 Magus of the Tabernacle
Spells
4 Chalice of the Void
4 Crucible of Worlds
4 Mox Diamond
3 Smokestack
3 Armageddon
2 Ravages of War
2 Oblivion Ring
3 Trinisphere
1 Wrath of God
2 Day of Judgement
4 Ghostly Prison
This deck consists of 61 cards which I think is ok since it is still pretty consistent compared with the traditional build. I only have 1 Kotr n exalted angel right now because I can't figure out which one I would like more. I am pretty much happy with the mana base, and Kor Haven is pure awesomeness. I can't count how many times it saved me. Even though I have magus and ghostly prison it doesn't always save me from mass creatures like elf since they produce the mana with priest of titania and just go through :frown: I'm going to stick with the same numbers for stax, Cow, 3sphere, and cotv since this list came from the traditional build too. And now for the sideboard:
Sideboard
1 Trinisphere
3 Choke
2 Krosan Grip
3 Suppression Field
2 Aura of Silence
2 Tormod's Crypt
2 Defense Grid
This sideboard is used mostly used against thresh, any graveyard relating decks, and any blue decks since choke is a bomb against them. Enjoy!
I'm sorry but your list seems poor. 5 Geddon effects is too much if you just run 2 magus. Besides O-ring is a great trouble solver specially when you star to set the lock, i'd run not less that 3. Other point is WoG and DoJ. WW cost are just difficult in this deck for running 3x, when you can solve the problem with magus, prison and smokestack. However, many times i felt like wishing i had a WoG i hand to solve mass creatures attacks.
My advises:
-1/2 Gedon +2 O-ring.
-2 Warth effect +2 Magus.
That's true.. I did think that I had too little magus for too many geddon effects. The ww for wogs and days seem fine to me right now. I only tested this deck around 6 games so I can't really say. As I keep using this list I'll update everyone with the changes. Even though oblivion can save me quite a lot, it just seems like it is a dead draw if I don't need it. Same with trinisphere or smokestack, if I already have one in play or in my hand it will just be a dead draw. But I can see where you're coming from. I agree with your opinions, but this is what I came up with after many trials
In the event that you draw a Oblivion Ring and you don't need it, isn't that a good thing?
Hope we'll be able to use some new cards from the upcoming set Worldwake.. from the looks of it, there are plenty of new manlands
Rosewater stated that in order to make the new manlands feel unique from the Urza's block ones, they have been beefed up and made more expensive to activate. In other words, they suck.
I'm thinking they could've come up with a better way to make them feel unique ... come on, this is the land block and I'm gonna be able to attack with my manland when by tapping how many lands? Yeah, thanks but no thanks.
*sigh*
Oh well, there's still hope.
I know how you feel bro. I want some card made just for this deck that way stax will be even better. Probably some kind of Instant or Sorcery will be better than nothing at all. Especially when Worldwake is about lands like the person above me have said. The 6/6 angel is almost like a better version of o.ring but wayyy too expensive to play *sighs*
Well coming back in the present of the deck...what do you think is better to stop red, Sphere of law or CoP: Red? Foir me is a hard question to answer.
Yeah that's true and sphere allows us the total open mana for our spells.
Have you seen the Worldwake's catastrophe??

I wonder how many Stax decks you'd need in your meta before you started boarding that. I mean, it would stop Geddon but not Smokestack.
Yes but this gives you unkillable mishra's factories that dont die to k-grip before blockers are declared... I lose alot of games like that. seems like a solid SB card but it would work better in lands than this deck.
Wow.. that card just ruined my day  I would hate to play against that. But would people find the space to be able to put it in their sb? I hope not. That IS a catastrophe.. :frown:
Edit:I guess it wouldn't be that bad if we add it to our own decks hehe. I actually didn't think of that, but still.. if people start to play that it is gonna be so annoying.
Seems too narrow to board in most metas ... I hope. It's the balls vs. Stax' Geddons and Wastes but doesn't help against Smokestack. Hm.
I'm more worried that some deck might use this simply for making untouchable manlands not specifically against Stax but against Wastes/Grips/removal/big attackers, and we'd be hit with the splash damage because we don't play Swords.
But then, we do have O-Rings and potentially more enchantment hate, so it's not that wild ... but of course, diluting the deck would already suck enough. Damn, if that thing is playable, Stax probably does need Ang€l$ to play around it.
//edit: Never mind, I remembered Sacred Ground wrong. The card's the yawn.
