Pawtucket, RI
When:

Registration starts at 10:00 AM, tournament will start between 11:30 - 12:00.
JUST TO BE CLEAR: THE TOURNAMENT IS ON MARCH 22

$20
DCI Santioned:
YES
Prize Structure:

QFT
I love the posibility of tournaments in RI starting up, its prety easy to get to from Worcester.
I hope they can change the date to something other then March 8th... conflicting with the Hadley Berserk tourny would drain quite a few players from both tournaments, as some will probably prefer the cash prize, and go here, but others like me would go to hadley, cause frankly i dont realisticly expect to win the 1st place prize, so if i have a choice between a $10 entry to a tourny i alreay know, and a $20 entry to a new store, with likely similar size turnouts, i'll take the cheaper one i know.

There's also a vintage Tournament the same day at Myriad Games in New Hampshire.

Re: [Tournament] $500 Cash, Pawtucket, RI
This should definately be moved. Theres just to much going on that week. The week after seems fine.

You would pass up the opportunity of $500 dollars for a Hadley tournament? I love Hadley but $500 dollars seems hard to pass up.

Re: [Tournament] $500 Cash, Pawtucket, RI
I'm not a big fan of a payout THAT front-loaded. You could easily split that $500 up among the T8 and still have a plenty significant prize for first.
And you can still call it a "$500 tournament" because you're still giving the $500 away (just like SCG/everyone else does).
Still, you might have a shot.

$20.00 entry vs $10.00 entry. I hope all the best for these tournaments. If they grow, I will definetly try to amke it our there. IMO this should not be about compeing over who has the best Legacy tournaments. Just remember this, Kevin started the large Legacy Tournaments in MA.

I"m pretty sure there's also a GPT this day.

Re: [Tournament] $500 Cash, Pawtucket, RI
If the Top 8 breakdown was a little more even in terms of prizes, I would consider making the trip down to this tournament. It looks like a lot of fun, but with 1st place only getting the cash, its not worth for a lot of out of towners to make this trip down.

If you could please change the date I will do whatever I will need to so that Team Necro will be there.

Re: [Tournament] $500 Cash, Pawtucket, RI
Has anyone actualy talked to the owner/organizer of this thing to see if changing the date is possible?
It realy would be a shame to have this and the Hadley tourny on the same day.
It seems like either the week before (1st) or the week after (15th, though that's st patty's weekend...) would be better choices.
As far as i can tell http://www.themanadrain.com/index.ph...5295.msg492681 is the thread Jaynel is talking about on the manadrain, and in it the owner just yesterday posted that the store isnt 100% up yet, so its unlikely there has been much advertizing done for this tourny, so changing the date is hopefully not a huge deal.
If anyone in RI is able to stop by the store to atleast tell the guy opening the store to come to this forum or better yet to get him to change the date, please do. If noone volunteers to do this in person, i'm gonna call the guy and see if i can convince him over the phone.
It would be a real shame if the two tournaments conflict, drain players from eachother, and then this guy loses way too much money on the 500$ prize and decides not to host legacy tournys again.
Edit: posted this and THEN saw the link in Jaynel's opening post... skim reading FTL, but the issue of changing the date still stands.

Re: [Tournament] $500 Cash, Pawtucket, RI
Hey guys its Javier, I posted on the manadrain about the store and I just wanted to clarify some things that have come up.
What:
$500 CASH Legacy Tournament
Where:
Die Hard Games
1005 Main St - Suite 2230
Pawtucket, RI
When:
March 15th, 2008
Registration starts at 10:00 AM, tournament will start between 11:30 - 12:00.
Entry Fee:
$20
DCI Santioned:
YES
Prize Structure:
1-4th: $500 cash split
5-8th: TBA
There will definitely be prize support for the rest of the top 8, be it store credit or boosters. The 5-8th prize support is scaled to how many people show. If we end up with enough people to give prizes to more than just Top 8 we will definetly do so.
Also I wanted to state that all the issues we've had so far are being cleared up this week and we will be finished and open for business as of this Friday.
The store hours are as follows
Monday
1:00pm - 11:00pm
Tuesday
1:00pm - 11:00pm
Wednesday
1:00pm - 11:00pm
Thursday
1:00pm - 11:00pm
Friday
1:00pm - 12:00am
Saturday
12:00pm - 12:00am
Sunday
12:00pm - 6:00pm
On Fridays we will be having sanctioned FNM and once a month we will be hosting a Magic 500.
The rest of the schedule is still a little up in the air as far as other games go, but I'll post that up by Wednesday or Thursday latest.
I hope I was able to answer your questions

Re: [Tournament] $500 Cash, Pawtucket, RI
This is the kind of tournament that used to draw 128+ people regularly in NYC, although the first prize was usually a box of Legends with prize support extending out to 8th place.
It's exactly the kind of tourney that if run regularly will draw crowds after the word starts to get out.

I think scrumdogg would like to have a word with you.
Also, stating that Myriad Games has a vintage tournament in every thread isn't changing anything because this is a Legacy site.

Re: [Tournament] $500 Cash, Pawtucket, RI
I here you. Scrum is the only reason legacy is in MA.

I take back my what I said, and put my foot back in my mouth. Scrummdogg is the father of Legacy, but Kevin started large Legacy tournaments in MA (Western MA in general) when the only large tournaments were Vintage.

Re: [Tournament] $500 Cash, Pawtucket, RI
With the date change (from what was origianaly posted in this thread), might it be a good idea to include the 3/15 date in the thread title, so that people who just skim the tourny forum know that this thing has had some significant updates?
Good idea, done.

With the new date, I will definetly try my hardest to make it to this.

Re: [Tournament] $500 Cash, Pawtucket, RI
This sounds awesome, it is always nice to have new places to play that support our format (that we can support back). I like being the Johnny Appleseed of Legacy, planting & supporting it wherever I go, but the format benefits from all our participation. And Legacy would not be where it is in MA without people (specifically store owners & TOs) like Kevin, he deserves much love & credit. So do stores like That's Entertainment which run weekly tournaments & support the singles for the format that T2/draft stores don't (Kevin is also amazing in this regard) & TOs like Ray Robillard who run jawdropping events that promote the format & draw in new players.
