Who is going?
As my post said in the Columbus GP thread, and as an update to that, I now have a weekend pass and will be going! Just need to wait til the end of the month to book!
Dave
Just as an FYI, I found roundtrip flights from Syracuse to Madrid, and back for $550USD. That would get you there on Friday, and home on Monday.
(I'm not saying I'd go - just putting it out there)
High chance that I'll go, unless I get some nasty surprise from university (I'll know in a month or so). RyanAir has a decently cheap if annoying Stockholm-Oslo-Madrid flight, but I'll shop around a bit more.
Basically finished my studies *check*
Cheap flights available *check*
GP within reasonable distance *check*
Highly psyched *hell yeah!*
Me and the team will be there!
Im considdering going aswell!
Thats more than interesting, i'am considering going aswell !!!
i'am checking my calender and then checking ryanair....
Incidentally, GP: Madrid feeds PT: San Juan... but which San Juan? The page doesn't say and there are at least a dozen cities with that name.
I've heard it's San Juan de Puerto Rico.
It is. The 2010 Pro Tour Schedule can be found here.
some of us OHIOAN'S are going!!!!!!WOOT
This is great, a Legacy Grand Prix in Europe!
Madrid here we come!!!
I guess that the OP isn't the only one from the Netherlands that will be attending.
The day that the GP scedule was posted 3 trails were organised that day. And preregistrations are huge! one event has 50+ preregistrations within 48 hours.
I'll go to Madrid with some friends as well! I can't wait.
Hmm.. it's still 108 days to go :(
Anyone know if GP: Madrid is going to be at the same location as 2008? Would be great to know, as I have to book accomodation very soon!
Dave
Are there any good hostels near there? We dont want to lay out for an expensive hotel, when its only going to be for crashing out anyways! All the ones I can find are in the middle of town. Any suggestions? We want to book up at the end of the month and we dont want to walk miles or have to get a cab! Thanks in advance!
Dave
+1 to the above. Any good cheap hostels?
Take a look at these:

HOTEL FLORIDA NORTE -> search in his web, www.celuisma.com
If you look at the map of Madrid, the park of "Casa de Campo" is located west of the city. The championship will be in a pavilion inside the park. I think the nearest subway stop is "Lago". Also, you can search for hotels which are located near the following streets:
Avenida de Portugal
Paseo de la Florida
Paseo de Extremadura
Paseo de la Virgen del Puerto
Calle de Segovia
Anyway, the subway in Madrid is quite fast. If you go to a hotel in the center of Madrid (for example, near of the following subways stops: Opera, Plaza de España, Sol, Callao...), maybe in 20 minutes you are in "Lago" stop.
Wizards has updated with some info about the GP:
http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazin...cmp=ilc-mtgrss
The event will take place in the same location as all other GPs did, which is good news, because, while not being the most beautifull venue of the city, Casa de Campo is very well located.
More news!
There is a nice tournament scheduled for day 28, for all the people who hasn't made it to day 2 and doesn't feel like going to the side events:

Yeah, the poster has some typos...
I'll be at the GP 100% (as a player). Any other Americans planning on going should PM me for some playtest/hangout time the day before.
I am seriously considering making the trip across the pond to hit up GP Madrid. This may be a total noob question but will announcements at the tournament be made in English and/or Spanish?
English.
I'd love to meet up with some non-Belgian/Dutch Sourcers, as a matter of fact (got my flight and hotel booked, staying with a huge amount of Dutch Legacy players). Anyone want to have some kind of way to recognize each other?
I'll also be going to this.
The dutch people could start wearing a dutch flag button on their shirts. I would actually do that if that didn't seem so nationalistic on an international tournament.
I do know I will sign every matchslip with both my real name and my source name though. I don't really care from which country people are, I'm far more interested in meeting other sourcers.
If I do make it to the GP, you will be able to recognize me by my USA soccer scarf. I plan on attending the friendly versus Netherlands on March 3rd in Amsterdam.
2166 kilometers to Madrid, Spain
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps.
My fellows and me will be there, Brazil will be well represented.
Well, perhaps not so much, but at least our team will.
I will be there! :D Does anyone already know where exactly the whole thing will happen? I´d like to have my hotel next to the site if possible...
Casa de Campo Fairgrounds

It's 20 minutes from Opera station at the city centre, you could stay anywhere in the Puerta del Sol area and enjoy what Madrid can offer. Besides, anywhere near Line 10 (the fastest one) will do fine. Anywhere near stations Príncipe Pío and Plaza de España will be near, too, but Madrid's Metro work very well and there are lots of stations in the city centre.
Hi folks beside the already mentioned Hotel San Florida witch others would the Spanish here in the forum recommend?
I'm going to be there - my hoodie will have my online alias on the back: PhanTom.
Got a hotel in lastminute.com, a bit far away, but it's 4 stars for 60 euros for 3 nights, so all is good.
I'm so trying to fly. It wouldn't even be that expensive, couple of hundred euros. Just need a hotel and that's about it. Damn excited to finally have a chance to attend one of the Legacy GPs.
THanks for the info, godryk! Any other sources already know where they will stay? It would be fun to have moar players at the same hostel/hotel :)
Me and another of my mates are staying at the Celuisma Florida Norte, which is only a tubestop away, I think!
Dave
My friends and me will be at Barbieri Hostel all the week prior the GP, in case some of you want to say "hello". Fell free to get there, share a pizza, play some random matches and talk in a very poor, terrible English with us.
At the GP site, look for some nice guys with strange names, numbers and the FeFe Team heartfrighten logo in the back.
P.S: How's the weather in Madrid in late February? It's summer at the Southern Hemisphere yet, and we're used to temperatures over 30ºC by the time. Perhaps we'll need clothing for a 5-10ºC in the Spanish late winter, or not so much?
What are the artist coming to this tournament? Is it announced yet?
Is selling cards allowed at the GP? Or is it only for official stores?
Edit: I'm staying at Best Western Arosa in Puerto del Sol area, from 26-28th of february
