INFORMATION FOR BOTH DAYS:

Tourney Starts PROMPTLY at 11:00 am(To avoid a prolonged tournament, this will be strictly enforced. Latecomers will be subject to a round 1 loss.)
Cost: $25 Entry Fee
Format: Legacy
DCI Sanctioned?: Yes, both days will be DCI Sanctioned.
Cut: Cut to top 8
Dopeness Factor: 200 times the probability that A wins the sixth game if:
A and B play a game repeatedly. In each game players toss a fair coin alternately. The first to get a head wins. A starts in the first game, thereafter the loser starts the next game.
Prizes: I will still be having a “based on participants prize scale. As for what the prizes are, well, that is the biggest dilemma. I certainly want to offer the best possible prizes I can, as well as give an even better selection of prizes than last time. The problem is, I am certainly not a store(though the event will be held in one) and so I don’t have a boatload of excess Legacy staples. Therefore, I have come up with the following.
1.) Where you finish in the event will earn you a certain number of points.
2.) You may then, “cash in those points” for your choice of prizes from a “prize bank”.
3.) For example, if you have 200 points, and in my “prize bank” the only things you are interested in are Resets which I have at 25 points and Lorwyn boosters at 4 points each, then you may claim a prize of 25 boosters and 4 resets, or 8 Resets or 50 boosters, etc.
4.) In the time leading up to this event I plan on trying to fill my “prize bank” with as many power cards, dual lands, Resets, Sea Drakes, Force of Wills, Booster Packs, etc. as I can get my hands on. I will update as time goes on to indicate what I currently have.
5.) Technically, I WILL MAKE SURE YOU GET ANY PRIZE YOU WANT. If I don’t have enough of the card in my prize bank the day of the event, I will try to get it during the weekend. If I can't get it, the store might have it. If neither is possible, I will buy it on Ebay and have it sent right to you. To make the point clear, YOU PICK YOUR PRIZES AND YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU WANT.
7.) If you would like to suggest something be sought after and had in the prize bank, so that it is there for the event, please do so. I will go after the most common requests that I don’t already have.
8.) To give you an idea of all the possibilities, some examples are suggested below.
9.) Any questions, please ask.
JUST SOME OF WHAT I CURRENTLY HAVE IN THE PRIZE BANK:

Mmm, mmm, good! Between this and the ULTIMATE MAGIC WEEKEND, November is looking like a lot of fun.

Oh, child! Sign up the Epic crowd!

Re: TML Open 3 - Stratford, CT. - Nov 3, 4 2007
Ill be there in force (yes just me). This time ill actually be playing a decent deck(the first one i played a bad Uw deck and the second one i played a bad UWB fish deck, didnt realy know much about Legacy back then). And this time ill actually be able to play both days.
Could we get 120+ people to this so i can get multiple power for placing first.

Re: TML Open 3 - Stratford, CT. - Nov 3, 4 2007
Stratford, Connecticut?
*Looks up on Mapquest*
2 hour, 45 minute drive seems very doable. There is a damn good chance that my brother and I will be making this, bringing somewhere between 0 and 3 people with us.

Re: TML Open 3 - Stratford, CT. - Nov 3, 4 2007
Fuck. By this time I officially won't be able to leave NY state under any circumstance. And right when we had a great tournament get posted. Sigh. Go get 'em for me, Epic.
At least I guess I get to look forward to the other 5 large Legacy events coming up in the area. God I love New York.

Re: TML Open 3 - Stratford, CT. - Nov 3, 4 2007
Are you prepared for the insanity that is David Gearhart's Trivia Abilities? Also, hopefully I'll win some magic whatever things. Man, I'm so coming for the Trivia, that shit is awesome.

Deep6er, Mad Zur, and I will take the Team Trivia Crown a second Mana Leak Open in a row. David will answer 55% of the questions, Jesse 40%, and I'll make do on the 2 or 3 questions they don't know. Time to brush up on UN-set Flavor text.

Re: TML Open 3 - Stratford, CT. - Nov 3, 4 2007
And this is why I hate the West Coast.
Yet again.

Feel free to get cocky...but as I recall you only beat us by 1 point last time... Ray's tournaments are amazing in both prize scope & friendliness, everyone in a 400 mile radius (except those dumbasses penally restricted to their current state...) should come up...everyone else should fly in.....

Re: TML Open 3 - Stratford, CT. - Nov 3, 4 2007
With the exception of the recent Fud's tournament in NOVA TML Open is my favorite non wizard sponsored event. I think I can make this one. The prize structure is so good I cannot help but be there. Maybe this time we will not get drained by those 2hg tournaments.

Living in CT is terrible, with the sole exception of this tournament. One way or another, I'll be there.

Re: TML Open 3 - Stratford, CT. - Nov 3, 4 2007
Daylight Saving Time ends 2am on that Sunday.
Hopefully not too many people will show up to the second day a hour early.

Re: TML Open 3 - Stratford, CT. - Nov 3, 4 2007
Totally probably there.
Team David Gearhart's about to wreck on everyone's pathetic scattergories abilities.

Hey Ray, I noticed the prize structure only had 1 Badlands. Is that all you have for sale at the store? Because I plan on building and buying my deck once I get there and I need 4 Badlands for my deck. I assume you have a plethora of them for sale at the store but I just want to make sure. Thanx ahead of time. Peace.
I do often get questions like this.
The store has one of the largest inventories I have ever seen. The will probabbly have like 20 badlands.
I simply put things I have since you might get a better deal on it point wise, however, the store has EVERYTHING and ANYTHING you will want and your points can be used as store credit.

Seriously, this store is tricked out. I like also how they have the moveable display cases so they move all the yu-gi-oh shit into the back room and bring out the freaking cheap-as-free power.
Also, this will be the first event where I showcase my complete and finally pimp Enchantress deck, baring the re-un-banning of Flash. Get ready for it folks.
(Chinese Elephant Grass!)
Edit: that worked out nicely, fitting the whole screen like that.

Re: TML Open 3 - Stratford, CT. - Nov 3, 4 2007
My Elephant Grasses were better.
I used thin paper and tape to replace the art with this, cropped;

You don't slay the kittens. Live kittens make much better armor.

Well, actually my Birthday is October 9th, but Thanks for the early wishes.
I'm pumped for this and I'm not even playing in it. Let's hear some trash talking.
-
Re: TML Open 3 - Stratford, CT. - Nov 3, 4 2007
Now honestly Ray, is trash talking actually worth it? Most of the people that talk trash end up closing down posts. Here are 14 reasons why Trash talking ruins gaming:
Talking trash is mostly done by people who do not show up.
Everybody hates trash talkers.
Always remember what you say can be used against you
Moderators keep track of what you say.
Nothing gets accomplished by trashtalking
Everyone should just show up and play.
Can't we all just get along
Rember the mod's
Only trash talk afterwards when you win
Remember to talk with wise words
Understand the rules of posting
Leave the trash talking to the Pros'
Express positives posts
Simply have fun and enjoy the game.

Okay so the standard questions are -
Will Syracuse play real decks?
How well will NOVA do?
Does Albany play Magic anymore?
Is Mass bringing Ichorid or is it Death and Taxes?
Is Rochester going to play Belcher again?
Did I leave out anything?

- Not a chance. Expect semi-competitive deck-list abortions of 61 cards. And lots of Survival.
- Better than we hope.
- What is this Magic of which you speak?
- For their sake, I hope Ichorid.
- Who cares? That deck only top 8s in Europe.

Uh, are you planning to attend this shindig, Matt?
-
Re: TML Open 3 - Stratford, CT. - Nov 3, 4 2007
Nope. But I will be hitting up Hadley Mass next week.
-
Re: TML Open 3 - Stratford, CT. - Nov 3, 4 2007
Well, is anyone from the Albany area going? I just moved here and am trying to decide (if i can get my cards mailed to me in time) if I want to drive to Stratford.
-
Re: TML Open 3 - Stratford, CT. - Nov 3, 4 2007
Slay, Jaynel, and I should all be there. No word on who's taking the 4th spot in the car yet. Are any teams getting a hotel room that they'd like to share the cost of? Floor space is fine.

I play a real deck, with 60 cards.
As normal one or two in top 8, if they actually show.
Nope
Both, both will lose.
Yes, Greg is hooked on it like it's crack.
