  1. Re: Kamigawa Neon Destiny - A victory lap around Netrunner

Using the -2 to immediately ninjutsu the token and draw a card seems like more resources and more steps than simply using the +1. I guess I should be fair and at least admit the -2 synergizes with...

Kind of a big miss that the minus ability on the ninja planeswalker is a nobo with ninjutsu.

That's a fair point but ultimately the point is that those cards are getting printed to a much larger degree as of late.

This is the best take in the thread on this topic. I'll just add that if Tombstalker was blue it would have been relevant until Murktide was printed.

I wonder how much of this is due to them deciding that its not fun when both players run out of resources so lets make an obscene number of cards that instantly replace themselves.

I've played off an on since the late 90s but when I say new I mean starting with MH1.

Personally, I think Legacy Horizons would be heinous. Modern Horizons is already bad enough. These horizons...

Then we're mostly in agreement. My original point was that the newly printed creatures are not what caused non-blue aggro to fall out. It's only gotten more ridiculous/apparent now because Delver...

Sure. But those didn't become unplayable because of any of the new creatures being printed. They became unplayable because the whole format is way more powerful and plain aggro just doesn't work...

Yup. Unfortunately, if you ban Daze and Wasteland you would probably have to sit there for 2 years banning a ton of suddenly too degenerate strategies and probably end up in a spot looking like...

In world where Murktide, DRC, Delver, and TNN don't exist, Nacatl doesn't suddenly become playable. You explained why those cards are playable: they are backed up by pitch counters and cantrips.

I don't really understand the complaint about beat sticks. Should that just not be a thing in the format? Look at the top list of creatures played in Legacy. Its almost entirely comprised of value...

Don't think you can really call either DRS or Monkey definitively better or worse. DRS shuts down graveyards, which Monkey does not. Monkey provides potential card advantage if you get lucky on...

So basically the future of Magic is Commander, Historic "where we test random bullshit," and "Modern Horizons the format." Color me interested.

Can't see them doing optional Phyrexian Mana, which they've said (and I think we can all agree) is shitty mechanic that shouldn't exist. The discard is more plausible and that's where things would...

I think you can safely assume that is going to be the norm for MH moving forward.

Ward is inherently a lesser form of Hexproof but the idea is that it's conditional and therefore provides more decision-points. This just builds upon that.

What if they started making creatures with Ward that allowed the controller to pay a "kicker" cost as an activated ability (as opposed to upon casting) that made the Ward more severe. For example:

All three of those mechanics are pretty cool. However, other than seek, I believe they could have effectively been paper mechanics as well.
