I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment of tutors. I agree with your assessment on Engineered Plague as well. It stops Ichorid cold and unless they splash white for Vindicate, it's...

I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment of tutors. I agree with your assessment on Engineered Plague as well. It stops Ichorid cold and unless they splash white for Vindicate, it's...
@Roman Candle, Hollywood, crz87, Jak.
I agree with Hollywood and crz87. Cunning Wish has huge advantages in its instant speed. Also, in this particular context, Pulse of the Fields is clearly better...
@Citrus-God
I agree on Aether Vial being the dangerous part of Goblin Vial. Until the Vial is removed, your principal draw engine, Standstill, is useless.
I feel today, the concept of Landstill...
@Misplayer
Simply because something is tested and found viable does not mean it is necessarily better than pre-established performers. I am sure you can indeed run UWr like in the past, but we do...
@Roman Candle
Why run spells that cannot deal with one of the most common creature threats out there? Why not run all white/black removal? I mean heck, SMOTHER would work better than Fire/Ice when...
@Jak.
Then don't name your deck after it. Unless you're a fan of naming decks like "Solidarity" or "Rabid Wombat." When you say Burning Landstill, I assume your deck revolves around Burning Wish,...
I agree.
However, the non-specific nature of UWb Landstill can be dangerous. For instance, although Vindicate is an excellent Swiss Army Knife, it is not nearly as useful as more Sword effects in...
@gustha
YOU FORGOT GLACIAL FORTRESS! =DDD
Okay, it's not THAT great, given Wasteland and all that, but the art is gorgeous.
BUT... YOU FORGOT SILENCE!!! =DDD
It is strictly better than...
@Misplayer
I don't consider those decks to be a bad matchup. Mostly because I am acclimated to an environment where the most popular decks tend to be aggro. But to say that Burning Wish for a...
@crz87
Firespout fails to kill a 3/4 or 4/5 Tarmogoyf, which is the reason why Sword effects are heavily preferred these days.
People can always bounce back after Firespout, Wrath, and whatnot. A...
@Antonius
That's a precarious mix of mana you got there. If you run Tolaria West, do not count it as a land. Chances are, you will not ever use it as one unless you are really desperate. Also,...
@Antonius
That's a precarious mix of mana you got there. And I still think 2 Swords to Plowshares tops 2 Snuff Out. Then again, you could also use Edict.
Anyhow, I have seen a UB Landstill...
@lavafrogg (who was responding to rockout)
Lol. Are you kidding me? I'm in the "8cc, I win" mindset. xDDD And I still think Wrath of God is an excellent card.
Anyhow, you can use all the damn low...
@mossivo1986
Unlike you, my momma don't dress me no more. =PPP
Yeah, I agree that Spell Snare is a 3-4-of. I don't think I ever questioned that, it's just that some people keep it in their...
@NQN
Hahaha, I think so too.
To set the record straight:
I do not think we should cut Counterspell out of traditional Landstill variants.
I do not think Spell Snare or Negate are...
I didn't say I ran Mana Leak as an early game counter; I run 4 Counterspell and I rush UU+W. All I said that I felt Mana Leak is a better replacement than Negate for Counterspell. Oo
Once again,...
@gustha
I was actually saying that it is difficult for you to make generalizations about actions that depend entirely on gameplay conditions. The fact that Negate cannot counter creature spells is...
@gustha
"Why bother to counter creature spells when you can just remove them?"
Do I really need to address this question? It's such a straw man. You cannot expect anyone to satisfactorily answer...
@Jak.
No, Mana Leak fulfills whatever role Negate has quite well. I personally find a loss of late game viability preferable to not being able to counter creature spells.
That's bad...
@gustha, Morbid-, Misplayer
The only situation where I would love Negate is against say, a deck that relies on Cabal Therapy. Having alternative counterspells may be useful then.
Anything, back...
@mossivo1986
I feel UWg is rather flexible. None of the hosing power of the black splash, but it feels like traditional control, and I feel comfortable playing it.
@ultimoman
Think of Tolaria...
@mossivo1986
I personally do not consider Merfolk, Threshold, or Dreadstill to be control decks. Merfolk I consider aggro; the other two I consider aggro-control. I mean, they have a short clock and...
@Benie Bederios
I like your deck. It looks a lot like mine, except it has a minor black splash instead of green. But isn't the single Humility a bit weird? Why not add another Eternal Dragon or...
@Misplayer, ultimoman, Ectoplasm
Indeed, I have always been more concerned about aggro than combo.
If you play black, Engineered Plague is the way to go. Wake Thresher doesn't stand a chance.

@LostButSeeking
Thanks. I read the article. Eliminating mana burn and LIFO damage is rather groundbreaking.
@3duece
Lol. A 1-of typically means you don't ever want to see it unless you tutor it....
