  1. Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

The 8/1 legacy challenge list was quite nice looking and looks pretty close to the Sultai Dressnought list in the OP.

    Planeswalker (1)
    1 Grist, the Hunger Tide

    Creature (8)
    4 Phyrexian...
  2. Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

Dreadnought lists are more skill intensive than delver lists if anything. Mulligan decisions, knowing when to just play land and pass holding up a stifle and knowing when to jam Dreadnought and when...
  3. Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

Actually, Ive found that Bosh consistently plays Dreadnought lists well. He does make occasional play mistakes but overall plays the deck the way a player that understands the deck and its internal...
  4. Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

Those are good suggestions. Thank you. I would cut the Delta for the 2nd Volc but otherwise that manabase definitely looks better.

Adding a Stifle or two to the maindeck is fine, as long as people...
  5. Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

On MTGO, Volcs are $5 each. With covid bringing paper down, lots of people are playing via MTGO.

I really want to try Blood Moon in that 5-0 list. So I could increase the basic island count and...
  6. Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

Lets just agree to disagree. I personally think Cartesian's manabase is perfect as is for the way his deck is built.

I dont get the appeal of slow grindy cards like Lavamanacer or Standstill. But...
  7. Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

    That wasnt the question.

If I get to choose which card gets Pushed in response to your attack, a Ragavan, or a Dreadnought, I would choose Ragavan pretty much every time.

    If we are talking...
  8. Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

Lol. Yes Ragavan is overpowered. But saying that you would rather get a hit in with Ragavan than get a hit in with a 12/12 trampler is more than a bit hyperbolic.
  9. Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

CARTESIAN 5-0ed with a very fresh take on the deck

    Creature (12)
    4 Dragon's Rage Channeler
    4 Phyrexian Dreadnought
    4 Sprite Dragon

    Sorcery (4)
    4 Ponder
  10. Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

The benefit came from Ragavan and DRC eating removal and forces that would have otherwise hit Dreadnought or Uro, as predicted.

Thats why the list was built the way it was and thats why its...
  11. Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

Boshnroll’s excellent video is up. Lots of fun gameplay. Dragon Rage Channeler, Dress Down and Dreadnought put in a ton of work...

I agree with Bosh, the maindeck...
  12. Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

Standstill is just not that great as a card imho. As far as 1U enchantments go, Dress Down cantrips and has significant utility beyond enabling Dreadnoughts and Uros.
  13. Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

Fox, do you think the manabase should have replaced some of the duals/wastelands with misty rainforest and/or a basic island?
  14. Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

I am excited to see how boshnroll fares with the below list, will update with a link when the video gets published but I would love to hear feedback on improving on the below list...

    Creatures...

    Re: [Deck] Red Death

Scratch what I wrote earlier. Reanimating Street Wraith type shenanigans as well as Street Wraith’s and Thoughtseize’s synergy with Dragon’s Rage Channeler are very worthwhile.

    Those cards alone...

    Re: [Deck] Red Death

As already pointed out, Red Death is a Sui Black with a red splash. Death’s Shadow was never an integral aspect of the deck.

I really dont think Death Shadow can function without the blue xerox...
  17. Re: Minotaurus Rex: How to deal with Stony Silence?

That is indeed brilliant. Yes Saga can get a Didgerdoo into play under cards like Standstill or a Chalice on 1.

I would want to try a colorless variant by cutting blue from the list and playing 4...

    Re: [Deck] Red Death

Red Death should be built on a curve similar to Delver, but with removal spells, baubles and discard subbing in for cantrips...

This is what I would try...

    4 Dragon’s Rage...

    Re: Death-Nought

Here is how I picture Death Nought post Dress Down and Prismatic Ending..

    8 1cc All in threats (4 Nought, 4 Death’s Shadow)
Either a white splash for Esper Sentinel and Mother or Runes or a red...
  20. Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

Like Death’s Shadow, Thoughtseize feels pretty essential in clearing the way for your all in threat.

I think the Death Nought thread you created is a very promising route to take.

    8 1cc All in...
  21. Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

That is a very cool idea. But scroll seems very slow for modern horizons 2 legacy.

Urza’s Saga is a better way to go all engine all the time.

A midrange list with 4 Saga could work well with...
  22. Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

I think an Aether Vial or two to grab with Urza’s Saga make all 1 drops uncounterable, and to do the double Dreadnought trick is absolutely warranted.

I think you meant Prismatic Ending but...
  23. Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

Maindecking an Endurance or two is solid in the current meta in the Uro builds. But doing that requires that Ponder be replaced with Abundant Harvest.

Or maindecking Abundant Growth in the Urza's...

    Re: [Deck] Reanimator Depths

That's a sweet looking deck! How good has Custodi Lich been as a 4 of?

If I wanted to add 4 Dauthi Voidwalkers to the above list, how would you do it?
  25. Re: Do you think Wizards will ever again print dual lands that are better than shocks

    Excellent Point!

Cheaper alternatives to duals would be exactly what paper legacy needs in order to survive. The original duals will always be the vintage and most valuable cards. The more...
