    Re: [Deck] Death and Taxes

Went 2-1-1 at my local, 17 people. Good for a 3 way tie at 4th.

    List for reference:

    4 Wasteland
    4 Rishadan Port
    4 Karakas
    11 Plains

    4 Mother of Runes

Has SoFaF become better than SolaS now that most removal is non-targeted (terminus, dread of night, deed, bolt, innocent blood)?

    Re: [Deck] Death and Taxes

Grunt is very good since it shrinks Goyfs and kotr. It's one of the reasons Mav is an even to slightly favorable matchup. Mav's main advantage is superior creatures and Grunt takes that away from...

If you find yourself wanting Mirran Crusaders, I suggest switching to Maverick. They beat down better. Even then, most of them still don't run Crusader.

    Re: [Deck] Death and Taxes

Actually I've found Cata to be insane against Stoneblade. The only creatures they can field are Snaps, Cliques and Batterskull. If you can keep them off an early Batterskull, Cata can pretty much...

    Re: [Deck] Death and Taxes

The key word is "consecutively" pass priority. After Vial is done resolving, priority returns to them because they are the active player.

As for Flickerwisp, if you play one and target your own...

    Re: [Deck] Death and Taxes

Mav and DnT are very different. Mav just presents threat after threat after threat until you die. DnT shuts down parts of your game until it can give a dude a stick and win.

    Mav doesn't even...

    Re: [Deck] Death and Taxes

The problem is, in terms of tempo, there is absolutely no difference between them Brainstorming or removing your creature in their turn or in yours. In that sense, it doesn't even slow them down. All...

    Re: [Deck] Death and Taxes

You have the Mangara lock down correctly. As for removal and permission, that isn't too big of a problem.

With removal, the deck is full of must-kill targets so they'll have a hard time killing...

    Re: [Deck] Death and Taxes

It would help if we had the list the DnT pilot was using. The pilot(s) you're facing probably have suboptimal decklists, or are not very experienced with the deck.

I can speak from experience that...

    Re: [Deck] Death and Taxes

Well to be fair, it doesn't have to be DnT = Control, GnT = Aggro. GnT has pretty good control tools too. Obviously you lose the Port denial plan but stuff like Teeg and Pridemage are very disruptive...

    Re: [Deck] Death and Taxes

If the "setup" that you're referring to is getting a stoneforge out, searching for SoLaS and getting it equipped to something, that usually takes 2-3 turns. Cards like Oust/Jotun Grunt will get you...

If that's the list you used to test against traditional zoo, then I'm not surprised zoo is a problem.

Jotun grunts help a lot since it's the only creature that doesn't die to burn. Getting one...

    Re: [Deck] Death and Taxes

I think Squadron Hawk is terrible. Fetching 3 1/1 flyers isn't really card advantage when they don't really do anything. Sure, it's an evasive body to equip, but that's it. We already have access to...

Thanks for the suggestions. You're definitely right that I didn't really use the sideboard at all in most matchups. Though the good news is that

    Re: [Deck] Death and Taxes

I don't think postboard is a cakewalk, since they do have trygon predator if they're UG and qasali pridemage if they're GW.

Arbiter does help a lot though. Without arbiter, even postboard, it's...

    Re: [Deck] Death and Taxes

Agreed, the usefulness of pithing needle (and to a lesser extent, leonin arbiter) has me thinking about departing from the tutor sideboard in favour of a more conventional one.
