Hey that's very nice of you. I also think the current state of this message board (and message boards in general) is kinda tragic. I grew up on message boards and think that Discord is just a poor...
The card feels similar to Prelate to me in that it's very good against Storm and Miracles, but a blank against fair creature decks. Considerably worse than Prelate vs Delver, Lands, Loam. It's a two...
Eldrazi is definitely not a good matchup, at best it's even. The deck going bigger and playing Walking Ballista hasn't helped. (The saving grace is that Eldrazi players tend to be...Eldrazi players.)...
DnT is really good against tier 2 decks right now and pretty bad against tier 1 decks, which means it's gonna crush locals and do fine in leagues, but it's gonna struggle at larger competitive events.
I just played two leagues in the last few hours and faced: Dredge, Elves, Reanimator, RUG Delver, Depths, UR Delver, Shardless, Lands, 4c Loam, UW Stoneblade, so you probably just hit a weird set of...
DnT is a control deck and we usually want to drag the game out and out card-advantage them rather than beat them quickly with an empty hand. I think if you're gonna shift to a Plateau Stompy...
Hmmm....
Feel like Vial-flooding would just replace land-flooding, which currently happens more often, but overall it would be a wash.
'How many of these cards would you play if there were no 4-card limit' is a question I like thinking about and the answer for Aether Vial is definitely not 'exactly 4'. An 8 (+?) Vial deck would cut...
Yeah B2B is even pretty good vs WW and one of the reasons I think the matchup has shifted in their direction. Port and Karakas are a lot of DnT's game in control matchups.
But WR pretty much just...
UB Shadow usually loses on the spot to a resolved Magus + having non-white threats means you aren't as soft to Dread of Night. 4c Loam seems to be getting a little more popular, and I think WR is a...
I haven't been playing a lot but when I do play online I usually play RW and have been doing fine. PK and Daredevil are definitely the best way to beat Grixis. RW lost a lot when Miracles moved to...
I would bring in Paths over RiP. The thing about Maverick - the deck doesn't do a lot vs us beyond get KotR out. It's a legacy combo deck, except instead of powering out 20/20 indestructible...
I would put Eldrazi as 40-60 unfavored. You really need a Vial to keep up with them and leverage your Ports and Wastelands, but their random Chalice on 1s screw that up a chunk of the time. You have...
Gideon and Relic Warder are good vs Eldrazi, and I don't think Containment Priest is great. You can't afford to shut off your own Vial, that's the best way to keep pace with them.
The open was the second large legacy tournament with no DnT in the top 32. It seems pretty clear that DnT is a terrible day 2 deck at the moment.
WR builds are pretty solid against Grixis, PK in particular. They used to always crush Miracles too, now they crush Miracles 50% of the time and lose hard to B2B the other 50%.
I could see BUG good-stuff gaining an equal footing to Grixis Control.
The new Goblin card is very good against us, maybe even worth trying in RW builds. That's a very pushed card.
The Play-Around-Karakas? thing got me thinking about something interesting that I've internalized but never seen explicitly written about.
So the raw probability of a Karakas being in a 7 card...
I think you kinda redeem yourself by having a DnT player kid. Even though there's no hope for you, the next generation is fighting the good fight. It's like a Luke Skywalker / Darth Vader thing.
Karakas is one of the key cards against SnS, so a DnT player is more likely to keep a hand that contains one, which means that despite only being a 3-of, it's more likely to be in our G2/G3 keep....
I put in the Relic-Warder 100% of the time in that situation, I don't think it's even a close call. If they know they're playing against DnT, SnS players are rarely gonna go for a high risk line that...
I think doing so well the PT was pretty bad for the archetype. Everyone is coming to big events prepared to play and beat Thalia. And when people want to beat DnT, they beat DnT. The deck is fragile...
24 lands has generally worked great for me, though I also play pretty ambitious curves. Going hard on Horizon Canopy is a very interesting idea. The current meta is probably more forgiving of the few...
The Shadow deck beat one DnT player in the semis and was very favored to beat another, entirely due to his sideboard. Winning through 3 DoNs was essentially a fluke, that's going to happen for the...
