Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist

I know there are many factors to consider for all the variants, but I saw this deck that is just quad-laser focused on their game plan. No fussing around with numbers, just give me 4 of the cards I...

    Re: Syphilis (Junk Pox)

Asmor is a 3/3, Urza's Saga makes big dudes, and Entomb can grab a 'free' Feasting Troll King out of the graveyard. That seems to be enough threats for a grindy deck. The crazy part is that Sylvan...

    Re: Syphilis (Junk Pox)

If you want a repeatable removal spell that pseudo-supports your strategy than Darkblast could do some work. It kills lots of early stuff, then Liliana/Smallpox/Prismatic Ending can mop up the rest....

    Re: Syphilis (Junk Pox)

Yeah, I would definitely do that first. I think the Library suggestion is easily the best one, it's one of the most powerful things you can do for 2 mana. I think if Loam is the backup and Land Tax...

    Re: Syphilis (Junk Pox)

Ninja'ed! EDIT: Depending on where you go with it, I think Sylvan Library x1 is at least worth 1 Raven's Crime slot.

    Re: Syphilis (Junk Pox)

I think the weak spot is Raven's Crime, the combo with Loam hasn't been very strong in a long time. I think the right thing to do with Mox Diamond acceleration is to curve into pieces that can...
  7. Re: Do you think Wizards will ever again print dual lands that are better than shocks

If they entered tapped unless you did those things, it should be fine. That's essentially what the shocklands are, but instead of revealing a card or giving opponent's life you instead pay 2 life. If...

    Re: SHiV (Shadow-Hollow-Vine)

Good points, and Shadow basically replaces Troll. I like that Initiate can be a 3/3 even late game, without setup. It *might* be good enough.

    Re: SHiV (Shadow-Hollow-Vine)

Missed this one on the first pass: Cabal Initiate. It's another discard outlet in black that's easier to cast than Lotleth Troll. It also gets a threshold bonus in the mid game that isn't dependent...

Moved to New and Developmental, that's where this belongs. The Vaka Nought thread is now locked.

    Re: Legacy Hollow-Vine

I agree, Street Wraith is really only good if you have some way to use it in another capacity than a redraw, like Reanimate with Death's Shadow or some sort of Life from the Loam synergy. As the...

Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist

Those are fair points, which are all valid when really digging deep into how legacy as a format works. I was more interested in arguing against a simplistic view of Daze than trying to capture its...

Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist

What if...stay with me now...they never have to play into it because they are always playing around it. That doesn't make Daze a bad card necessarily, but it does change the dynamic of the different...

    Re: [Primer/Deck] Pox

I think it's ok there as a tutor, but not taking advantage of the construct token generation makes it a lot more fair than what other decks are doing with it. It's safe to say that if we are tapping...

Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist

Come on buddy, you know that just the threat of Daze changes play patterns. That's level 1 legacy.

Re: [Deck] Dreadstill - Enter the Fist

Does Dress Down and Suspend make mono-blue viable? I know I'm a broken record on this, so I apologize for that, but I would love to have a non-dual manabase deck for legacy. I think I'm going to get...

    Re: SHiV (Shadow-Hollow-Vine)

Yeah, I saw that list posted in the other thread. It's cool, but it's also weak to Daze and graveyard hate. My whole premise for Shadow was to have a big cheap 1-mana threat that can trigger...

Re: [Deck] Deadguy Ale (B/w Confidant)

It seems outdated now, but my answer used to be Lingering Souls. It isn't efficient mana-wise, but as far as value it really taxes their removal and clogs up the board, especially in the air.

    Re: SHiV (Shadow-Hollow-Vine)

With the focus on black so strong now, I am debating Dark Ritual over Lotus Petal. It can allow for some insane early plays that not only enable fast starts but can also allow for Thoughtseize to be...

    Re: Legacy Hollow-Vine

If playing Hogaak, yes I could see an Entomb package. Otherwise this isn't Reanimator where you're all-in on one threat (Griselbrand), you need a critical mass of threats to be aggressive enough. One...
  22. Re: Do you think Wizards will ever again print dual lands that are better than shocks

    That's a fair point.

Another option would be to errata all of the different dual lands to their corresponding land types, ie Woodland Cemetery is now a Forest Swamp. Honestly, it would make a lot...
  23. Re: Do you think Wizards will ever again print dual lands that are better than shocks

The point would be to open up almost the entire history of different dual lands to be fetched, which makes having dual lands not as important. If players don't need duals then the duals should...
  24. Re: Do you think Wizards will ever again print dual lands that are better than shocks

The other option is to print different fetches. Tap, pay 1 life, search your library for a land that can produce Black and Green...rather than a Swamp or Forest. Then cards like Blooming Marsh,...

    Re: Legacy Hollow-Vine

I would straight up cut Burning Inquiry for Kitchen Imp in that list
It's a good thing they are splashing black because their combo matchups would be atrocious otherwise. Being explosive isn't...
