How exactly did reprinting (Modern Masters) keep prices down? i.e. Tarmogoyf, Vendilion Clique, Cryptic Command, Dark Confidant. All it did was allow people to pay $10-12/pack or $250/box to gamble...

With Melira, Sylvok Outcast in play you should still be able to untap Devoted Druid for infinite mana, right? This should work the same way as persist ability would work with Melira in play

Devoted Druid turn 1
Melira, Sylvok Outcast turn 2
then Helix Pinnacle for win on upkeep of turn 3
or attack with Bramblesnap on turn 4

I play Skullbriar, the Walking Grave with Goryo's Vengeance
and it has worked pretty well for me.

You are correct that lands don't have a "converted" mana cost but I believe you can still scavenge Dryad Arbor. Tolaria West works similarly in a Lands deck where you pay the transmute cost and look...

Actually, you can scavenge Dryad Arbor...converted mana cost for any land is zero.
