It's key to remember that the vanquishers can carry a game on their own. Usually i'm not using their death touch, but their 3/3 for 2. Our deck is very vulnerable to mana disruption, and vanquisher...
I just came in first at my weekly 8 man. I really found the wren's run vanquishers to be critical against decks that were otherwise quite tough, specifically against UBR burning wish/ad nauseum/IGG...
I think that the wrens run vanquishers can be credited with my improved combo and zoo matchups. Being able to trade or block profitably with zoo is really powerful. Similarly, having a blocker bigger...
I have been running an elf survival list for the past month or so and getting decent results at my local 8 man weekly event, which is a predictable meta of a good zoo deck, a TES deck, a bg...
What can I sideboard against Sneak Attach/SnT? I have a few of these in my meta and 2 slots in my boards. I've already got 4x Mindbreak Trap and 4x Faerie Macabre, along with 3 Grips and 2 StP. The...
It's better than survival b/c it allows you to play an extremely aggressive build of elves. Mostly, you will just use it to grab the Wirewood Symbiote or Sylvan Messenger, but it can get you other...
What about using this card in Elf aggro? Adding a single Squee or Krovikan Horror (with Bayou and Elves of Deep Shadow) could give a second powerful draw engine to go with the Sylvan Messenger. ...
As someone mentioned before, Tuktuk Scrapper seems to be a good card that could be a better choice than Tin Street in a non-green build. It gives you artifact destruction that's not awful with...
Why is the Cruel Ultimatum kill better than using Conflux to get Progenitus, Magister Sphinx, and Dragon Breath? It kills the opponent no matter what their life total, and it only has a single...
It's much better than early frost (which is terrible). The drawing 2 cards is what makes it a good play--you can cut them off from a color for a turn, stalling them, plus you draw 2 cards for 2...
Anusien, the list I posted in the Regrowth/Pyromancer Ascension deck thread is designed to get around this. It's designed to be able to get ahead with the Ascension, and only use the Ascension in...
I'm aware of that thread, but in that thread the directions they were taking the deck are different that the way I went. That thread was a general discussion on Pyromancer Ascension and how to break...
Hey guys, I've been toying around with this deck for a little while and I was wondering what you thought. I know it'll never be tier one because graveyard hate hurts it a lot, and it's not great...
I think that this card could be a sign of other powerful manlands. Perhaps there are some 3 or 4 mana ones with powerful abilities? And anyway, it could show up in Landstill with 1-2 copies.
@HSCK
The combat trick I used to win some of the games was Symbiote + 1 mana elf, since I could continually replay it every turn to prevent all damage an instigator or piledriver would deal to me. ...
The idea isn't to use lock pieces in the elf deck--we are discussing hate which the deck is (or isn't) vulnerable to.
This is a build of elves designed to work well in the late game.
I haven't began testing the decks you suggested yet, however, I can explain how Goblins always loses. Goblins has many threats, but they all need to connect with you to win. We have a lot of 2...
I agree with you w.r.t. Heedless One. I started testing him a few weeks ago in place of the pump elfs (tribal forcemage et al.), b/c I found myself frequently in stalemate situations, and he rapidly...
I agree with you that this deck can't really answer some of the lock spells, but I wouldn't say that it's impossible to fix. I am thinking about how I might adjust it to include maindeck Viridian...
That's a good call--I had taken a hiatus from magic, and didn't know that existed. The only counterargument for that is if you wanted to splash black, then you couldn't play it. I haven't had a...
As the poster above said, Priest can handle the Tabernacle. Against Engineered Explosives, I have actually never had too big of a problem, since the cards have a good cost distribution from 1-3CC...
Hey guys, I'm here with a deck I've been working on. At first glance, it looks like Aggro Elves, but I've made some changes to it that fundamentally alter the way that it is played and drastically...
So, I was playing on MWS and I saw a guy playing this deck, and I thought I'd make a build and see how tough I could make it. The basic idea is that a 20/20 flying indestructible on turn 4 backed up...
You could run merely two Tutors, perhaps cutting a Scroll for one, so that you would get a reasonable amount of Hellbent use out of them. Then, when the Scroll would be useful, you could use the 3...
