Relic is what I was expecting as the soft pressure on the graveyard with the nuclear option.

The rule of thumb I use to remember on timing restrictions is this:

If a spell or ability tells you to just cast a card then it'll break timing, your Sorcery is cast in combat or whatever...

Replacement effects just overwrite the previous effect. The way the cards work, Read the Runes wouldn't even be aware something was replaced, it'll just chug along.
