Question for those of you guys running Release the Ants without any Enter the Infinite - are you just purely relying on cantrips to set up the top of your library?
Just a note, Leyline doesn't actually do much against Liliana. Her +1, which I think the deck cares more about, doesn't target.
In the case of Lavamancers, you should be able to Wish for answers.
Likewise in the Thalia case, you're probably better off casting Emrakul, untapping, then going off with all your mana open.
All of those cases are fairly rare though as you admit. I do personally prefer RtA over the Lab Maniac kill since you save on a sideboard slot, but I also believe that in today's meta, it's more...
What split second spells see play in Legacy that you would be worried about?
Also, what activated abilities would you worry about where you can't just Brainstorm in response to win?
Certainly with the RtA kill, you need Emrakul more against other Emrakul decks (there are other ways around it such as Noxious Revival to return your RtA) and I would agree it's more necessary these...
So with the RtA kill, you actually don't need Emrakul. Normally you should clash with something like EtI. Emrakul is there for the alternate Eladamri's Call route. Emrakul is indeed nice to have...
I assume that's supposed to be 1 FoW in the maindeck, not 4?
Good call on Sudden Spoiling!
I may give that one a try sometime if I throw this back together again.
I've also been toying around with the idea of a Hideous Laughter in the board to wish for when you're forced to drop Omni with Thalia out and you need to Cunning Wish for a sweeper for multiple hate...
No problem!
0) I believe Leylines are one of those cards you either run 0 of or 4 of. If you're going to run it, you want to maximize your chances of opening with it, right?
2) That's fine to...
Are you missing a Leyline of Sanctity in the main? Only 3 in the board seems odd if you're not running the 4th there...
1) I dislike Daze as a one-of. You're not going to consistently see it...
...
You guys realize that each time you Clash, each player gets to put the revealed card on the bottom of their library?
Why would Defense Grid make PoN useless? Our counter magic is primary used to protect our own combo when we're going off...
Most of Reanimator's dudes are pretty bad for us. Griselbrand (who cares if our spells are free when they can draw 14 and stop our key spell post-Omniscience), Iona on blue (as mentioned above),...
You're running Firemind's Foresight with no 2-drop to find?
So what kind of manabase are you suggesting then? Since there's no way you're going to be able to consistently get 1BR without cutting a bunch of basic islands...
I liked Massacre with Emidln's list. Gets everything but Teeg and doesn't require you to play red. If you're going to splash red, you might as well just play Pyroclasm.
Certainly, the Emrakul / Eladamri's Call is useful for the cases where Emrakul is in the opponent's deck, but Lejay has stated the primary reason is to have an out under Teeg / Thalia, etc.
Even...
Not really. Think about it like this:
In Legacy, the only cards that can beat / tie EtI (CMC: 11) once you start clashing, barring the mirror, are Blightsteel Colossus (very rare to run across)...
Release the Ants kill does not require Emrakul. The Emrakul / Eladamri's Call package is separate from both the Lab Maniac vs Release the Ants win conditions. With Release the Ants, as Lejay has...
Essentially, you're still trying to assemble a 3 card combo so you'll be more susceptible to hand disruption and will likely be slower than a lot of other combo decks.
The benefit we get from it...
Emrakul + Eladamri's Call is separate from Lab Maniac vs Release the Ants.
Essentially, Lab Maniac kill takes up 1 extra slot in the sideboard, but is harder to disrupt since it doesn't care what...
Agreed, everyone just need to be more clear in communication. "OK" is such an ambiguous term that if my opponents use it, I always stop to clarify what they mean.
