Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

They're small tuning things that wouldn't show up goldfishing but would affect how the deck plays against Tier 1 decks. Overall the deck idea looks good. Good luck!

Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

    Interesting deck!

If you prefer UG to UW, a few things:
    1) 3 Run Afoul or Pick Your Poison in the SB help with scary flyers (Marit Lage, Archon of Cruelty, Emrakul, Murktide). Otherwise UG...

Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

The Malcolm deck is atypical. It's a brew from a small weekly event of 13 players. See the other decks linked above. The other builds are doing better.

The most successful build now is Bant (UWG)....

Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

Thrull does a lot of useful stuff in non-Goldfish games, because it disrupts the opponent at instant speed. Because it's a removal target, an extra copy is not a bad thing.

    4 Thrull has been the...

Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

The 1 putting up results (Coat) I made a note saying was good, just that it doesn't work with Thrull. Both Thrull & Coat builds have 4xStP, because removal matters like I said.

    Guess Costume isn't...

Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

Looks good. Nice results. I'm a big fan of the UW version.

Could those Tameshis just be Murktides? 3 Murktide seems good if you're not on Uro. Or Curie.

The 1-of Masterwork makes sense if...

Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

    Curie still seems better because
    - it's a proactive turn 2 play that forces opponent to leave a blocker or hold removal
    - it works standalone as an Ophidian, doesn't need combo pieces to be...

Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

Unless they're changing the rules it would seem to. Older cards like Lazav, the Multifarious say the copy retains the Legendary supertype.

So you could have one Curie out and one Curie-Nought,...

Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

Can exile Dreadnought in response to sacrifice trigger (from cast or Saga), seems good.

Still seems good to protect with Legolas vs Costume. Or Fow/Daze.

The shroud only lasts one turn, doesn't move, costs 2 mana, and doesn't have Split Second (can be responded to).

Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

That looks even better cutting green and just running Murktide as a finisher instead of Uro. More stable mana. Daze + Wasteland mana denial plan makes more sense with many threats on 2 mana.

Both that and the FoW/Daze arguments are ridiculous exaggerations. The point is you need adequate compensation for spending more mana than a cheaper effect.

No one plays Cancel when other cards do the same for less mana, so mana cost matters. Why not play a 7-mana enabler?

Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

Not 2 full turns. If you spent 4 mana (+1 on tutor too?), they answer for 3, they can do other things. If your deck made no threats turn 1-2 and theirs did, they're already ahead.

    The 12/12 is a...

Re: [Primer] Six Shades of Dressnought aka Vaka-Nought

Hide in Plain Sight, they can just remove over 2 turns: 3 per turn. 2/2 is slow. They have time & mana left to do other things. If you flip, it loses Ward.

Making 2 2/2s for 3G is not impressive,...
