  1. Re: 'Mississippi River' (All In Creativity Technique Combo)

    https://www.magicspoiler.com/mtg-spoiler/hidden-volcano/

There is a full cycle with the same ability that has been spoiled, but the Red one seems most relevant for the time being. I assume this is...

    Re: Abiding Newts

Just a few other random thoughts.

Silent Clearing could have a home in the mana base, being able to turn into a fresh card if you're land heavy.

While some amount of targeted discard is needed,...

    Re: Abiding Newts

The mana for the deck is fairly solid, you might be able to cut a few Dromar's Cavern/Caves of Koilos for Ancient Tombs to power out your bigger spells faster, and given how low the deck's curve is...
  4. Re: 'Mississippi River' (All In Creativity Technique Combo)

The way the lands in this deck are set up, by necessity, makes Gemstones Caverns only really daze protection on curve for even mana cost spells, it's your 5th mana on turn 2 or your 7th on turn 3....
  5. Re: 'Mississippi River' (All In Creativity Technique Combo)

    @Rationalist

At the risk of summoning another math paper that I mostly can follow, I have been goldfishing the deck -2 LtGB, -2 Recluse -1 Havenwood Battleground, +3 Throes of Chaos +2 Tibalt's...
  6. Re: 'Mississippi River' (All In Creativity Technique Combo)

Are Restore Balance or Inevitable Betrayal too out there? With Betrayal especially you can get an Archon to kill their guy and maybe enough of a board to just win with, depending on if you hit...
  7. Re: 'Mississippi River' (All In Creativity Technique Combo)

I played the red version to 3-1 last night in a local event. Beat Pox and RUG control twice, lost to Death's Shadow but I think I could have sequenced differently and had an out. The sideboard could...
  8. Re: 'Mississippi River' (All In Creativity Technique Combo)

    Just a few assorted thoughts.

-For the red list, given that you have 4 SB cards that turn off Keruga and don't need it to be a blue card for Commandeer, is that better as a 15th SB card?
    ...
  9. Re: 'Mississippi River' (All In Creativity Technique Combo)

Went through gatherer for more options for the SB that would work for this deck. Found a few more Split cards that could have merit.

    Catch // Release
    Consign // Oblivion
    Never // Return

    All...
  10. Re: 'Mississippi River' (All In Creativity Technique Combo)

Is there enough Red in the deck for Pyrokinesis instead of Fry? And would Bojuka Bog be serviceable instead of Leyline of the Void? With those changes your SB plan never whammys you when you cascade...

    Re: mtgthesource - names origins

When I was in high school I was pretty much the archetypal nerd (still kind of am), and I hung out with other such nerds. Mostly we would just sit around at someone's house and talk while listening...

Re: Rule change: Drawing extra cards illegally

From the comments in the judge article, it sounds like if both players know about the extra card drawn it can just be put back where it goes, but in the case of one player knowing and one not, it...

    Re: [SCD] Worldgorger Dragon Combo

You're probably right. My main complaint with Tasigur is that you can't really kill with him on MODO so actually testing him is going to be challenging. Also, and this is super minor, but Misery...

    Re: [SCD] Worldgorger Dragon Combo

At that point isn't it just better to have the stroke in the main? It's not like the card is amazing, but I could see casting it at some point in this deck, and then it doesn't eat up a SB slot. The...

    Re: [SCD] Worldgorger Dragon Combo

Fair enough and no worries, it's hard to convey tone in text.

My testing against miracles has been pretty good so far, but a small sample size (4 matches on MODO, gone 3-1 against it). Going long...

    Re: [SCD] Worldgorger Dragon Combo

My response wasn't meant as a "shut up n00b," so I apologize if it read that way. However, the questions you are asking are very easily answered by playing a few games. It's not like this deck is the...

At this point, I would suggest playing games with the deck instead of theory crafting. I have been testing something similar, though with probe + therapy over Forces (and a few other numbers...

    Re: [SCD] Worldgorger Dragon Combo

Regarding the nitpick, yes, Scholar is better at the combo kill, but in a version of the deck with Careful study there is some chance that you just end up reanimating Oona as a 6/6 (or 5/6 or 7/7)...

    Re: [SCD] Worldgorger Dragon Combo

I have been playing a 1-of Crippling Fatigue (without Digs) but I'm not sure I have enough games in to know if it's worth it. It gets boarded out a lot, but it's an Entomb-able card that can create...

    Re: [SCD] Worldgorger Dragon Combo

All valid ideas, though I don't like having a backup plan that is susceptible to a lot of the same hate as the main plan. The green splash is something I think is probably correct, at least in a...

    Re: [WGD] Ub Cunning Dragon

Oona does kill on the spot for all intents and purposes. You exile their entire library and pass the turn and they die in their draw step. If pact is the concern it will never come back around to...

    Re: [SCD] Worldgorger Dragon Combo

Due to trying to cast gifts and/or buried alive, some number of Ancient Tombs might be better than some number of fetch lands (I was thinking 2, but 3 could be right). Also, if you are running gifts...

    Re: Worldgorger Dragon Combo

That's actually kind of interesting. If you manage to go off, Dark Depths is a reasonable plan-C win condition once you have infinite mana. The only problem is that you have to run a lot of copies of...

    Re: Worldgorger Dragon Combo

List looks solid. My one concern is that it looks like it would be fairly hard with this build to get the Oona into the yard as you can't intuition for her directly, so you need Either Entomb +...
