The seven cardinal sins of Legacy:
1. Discuss the unbanning ofLand TaxEarthcraft.
2. Argue that banning Force of Will would make the format healthier.
3. Play Brainstorm without Fetchlands.
4. Stifle Standstill.
5. Think that Gaea's Blessing will make you Solidarity-proof.
6. Pass priority after playing Infernal Tutor.
7. Fail to playtest against Nourishing Lich (coZ iT wIlL gEt U!).
Dammit, I thought Steve knew something since it's tomorrow in Australia.
AND the toilets flush in reverse? God what a strange land you guys live in.
I wouldn't put it past WotC's website to have access to articles based on your system's clock

We have all these ridiculous decks, and here I am just innocently wanting to play tier III decks with my Earthcrafts and Frantic Searches. Thwarted once again.

Bummed that Misstep dodged a bullet, but this is otherwise a solid announcement.
Workshop restriction would have been a travesty, but Thorn is a good hit. As someone buying into White Eldrazi it's not great for me personally, but Thorn's a bullshit card (and White Eldrazi can always try out Wingmare or some extra Thalia THC). Sphere can be more powerful, but I find Thorn to usually be one-sided.
Mentor needed to go. I suspect the deck will still be Tier 1 if they just replace 3 Mentors with Pyromancers.
Now that I type that out, I'm not sure this announcement is enough to actually change the Shops v Mentor dynamic . . .
Sure, but Pyromancer is a linear growth plan, which is a lot less explosive and easier to deal with (especially since -1/-1 effects wipes Pyro and the tokens).
Weaking both Shops and Mentor though allows other decks to actually play that couldn't split the difference. I.e. BUG Fish and hopefully combo outside Outcome.

I am a Stax player, I think that is fairly well known by now, and I can not see a flaw in this other than thinking Sphere should have taken the hit over Thorn. But hell, it is what it is, I am more interested to see what happens next. I am thinking about trying to build with Clamp and Genesis Chamber again. This is not a bad thing for Vintage.
For Legacy I think that was the right call to not ban anything, brainstorm is the ultimate spell of the format, but since Legacy is the only BS format, I think it will be very hard to take a strike. BS is just so good, it is a cantrip that also gives you virtual card advantage by shuffling away two cards that are not good at the moment, all at instant speed, its just so strong, I would like to see someday the format without it, but I don't know how people would react to it. Anyway without BS it would power down both delver and 4c control the 2 top decks, probably delver more, but still it would change a lot in the format, so I understand them not moving before the protour, and I think its right to wait.
What I really wanted was to see some unbans on Legacy, there are things that will be part of only tier 2 decks, so why not unban and bring some diversity up on the format.
