    Re: [Deck] Dream Halls

Maybe someone can give us information on this guy's non-Aggro matchups through the day (there WAS a good amount of blue in the field)...

At first glance, it looks not too good. But at a closer look, it seems to have enough cantripping to reliably find the Halls and either SnT or Tomb, eight hard disruption spells, and enough combo pieces to go off the turn he plays Halls. What I don't like is the Progenitals, because dropping one off SnT without any support shouldn't win you the game unless it's the second turn, so those are 3-4 slots you could use for more acceleration, disruption, or draw.

I think Prog is what makes the deck competitive

It is very strong against basically all decks that play with Daze and Tarmogoyf, which are a big part of the field and otherwise a very bad matchup. Resolving SnT/Prog on turn 3 or 4 will win about 95% of the times so they have to have the FoW or they lose. And if they have it then it clears the way for DH. The matchup might still not be good, but much better than without Prog.

It will take some testing, but it is a step in the right direction. It does look like there are alot of extra cards there but I think that makes up for not having to rely on draw spells to find what you need.

The Show and Tell is a nice back up and way to cheat Dream Halls or Big Progs into play.

Just think about these starting hands for e.g.:

Lotus Petal / Ancient Tomb / Show and Tell / Progenitus / Force of Will / rdm Blue spell for Force / rdm card

With this hand you can resolve Show & Tell turn 1 and even handle a FoW or a removal.

    other example on the draw:

Lotus Petal / Ancient Tomb / Show and Tell / Force of Will / Conflux / Dream Halls / rdm Blue spell for Force

draw any WUBRG spell for the instant win with backup or even turn 1 on the play without backup...

For sure this will not happen too often but still possible.

Also i don't think Show and Tell is a nice back up, the Deck totally relies on it. Without it you will resolve Dream halls often too late.

Dreaming up perfect hands is easy though. Petal and Tomb are each a 3-of, and having both of them + SnT + Halls/Progenitus + Force on turn one is not going to happen often.

The problem I have with SnT + Progenitus is that you'll have to assemble it on turn one or two because later it often won't be enough. With either Petal or Tomb, that's a 3-card-combination. Still doable, but are the times you can pull it off enough to offset the useless cards in your hand when you don't ?

It is just not true that you have to get Prog. on turn 1 or 2. Obviously it doesn't HARM the deck to get a few extra wins with a very quick Prog.+ backup but against many many decks it is also a solid mid game plan.

Countertop, Canadian Thresh, UBG-Thresh, MUC, ITF, Aggro Loam, Staxx and many Rock decks very just can't do anything about it, even if it comes down on turn 4 or 5 and many Landstill variants also have very few to no outs.

Just got myself a playset of Halls, Prog, Ultimatum and Conflux. :)

This way I can sleeve up this deck and Merfolks. Scout a littlebit before the tournament starts and have two completely different decks for different metagames :) And this deck seems great in an aggro heavy metagame like germanic.

What matchups does the deck side in Meditate for?

it just fuckin did! LOL. Good thing i kept my 1999 Spiral Blue deck which was fueled by 4x Dream Halls, 4x Meditate, and 3x Ancient Tomb.

when Vampire Hexmage and Scarecrow came out, Dark depths and Grindstone prices shot up to $25. I hope Dream Halls now at $3 can do the same. Given it was already a rare, i found it really difficult to compete a set back then even after it was banned from Standard. And finally now that Wizards printed Conflux in Conflux (almost 1 year ago), Dream halls continues to be a viable archtype.

well, time to grab a set of 'Conflux' FOILS and start playtesting!

I've played against this deck a few times online and I must say it seems really strong. I wasn't playing a GoyfFoW deck though and I think you need to in order to beat it.

Landstill for example. Each deck that doesn't have a real clock. It's just meant to replenish your hand when you can afford skipping a turn.
The same reason why Solidarity sometimes just plays end of turn Meditates.
The seven cardinal sins of Legacy:
    1. Discuss the unbanning of Land Tax Earthcraft.
    2. Argue that banning Force of Will would make the format healthier.
    3. Play Brainstorm without Fetchlands.
    4. Stifle Standstill.
    5. Think that Gaea's Blessing will make you Solidarity-proof.
    6. Pass priority after playing Infernal Tutor.
    7. Fail to playtest against Nourishing Lich (coZ iT wIlL gEt U!).

Nice to see DH make 1st in such a big event. As I said before a playset of S&T / Prog / DH is the way to go. Maybe Jonas overlooked some techniques but the basic structure is solid. He is not aiming to chain draw4 into other but simply assemble the direct kill with Lim D. V. and the cantrips.

    Some thoughts:

    - Why not play a set of Deltas and a basic Swamp?

    - Why TS over Duress .. and is 4 the right number for these cards?

    - Why B. Hellkite?

    - Would 1 Pandemonium instead 3 Cruel Ultimate and 1 Hellkite be enough to kill?

    Re: [Deck] Dream Halls

The only thing that I can think is that with Hellkite you can win with only 1 Conflux:
    Play Conflux pitching anything.
    Red: B. Hellkite
    Black: Ultimatum
    Blue: Ultimatum
    White: Conflux
    Green: Progenitus

    Play Conflux, Pitching Progenitus
    Red: Progenitus
    Black: Ultimatum
    Blue: Conflux
    White: Conflux
    Green: Progenitus

Play Cruel Ultimatum pitching Bogardan Hellkite. Return Hellkite to your hand.
    Repeat.
    Repeat.
    Play Hellkite pitching Progenitus

Your opponent face 20 damage, -3 creatures and no cards.
You have 9 cards + 2 Conflux + Progenitus in your hand and B. Hellkite in play.

Besides, I think that Bogardan Hellkite serves as a Cruel Ultimatum #4 that can be put into play through Show and Tell.
We tried to copy the Source, but then we realized we're spanish
If my post results dumb or offensive, it's probably just me miserably failing at being ironic in a foreign language
