    Isochron Scepter and Overload

Alright, I have an Isochron Scepter with Cyclonic Rift imprinted on it. If I activate the said Scepter, can I pay for Cyclonic Rift's Overload cost instead of not paying its mana cost?

    Thanks in advance!
I am convinced that WotC is "dumbing" the game because of all the stupid posts they come across on MTG-related forums

    From magiccards.info

12/1/2004: You don't pay the spell's mana cost. If the spell has X in its mana cost, X is 0. You do pay any additional costs for that spell. You can't use any alternative costs.
Ergo, no you can't pay the overload cost.

To be more specific, "without paying its mana cost" is an alternate cost. Unsurprisingly you can only pay one cost for a spell, and Isochron Scepter only lets you play the copy with the "without paying its mana cost" cost.

You can, of course, pay optional additional costs like kicker or replicate.
“It's possible. But it involves... {checks archives} Nature's Revolt, Opalescence, two Unstable Shapeshifters (one of which started as a Doppelganger), a Tide, an animated land, a creature with Fading, a Silver Wyvern, some way to get a creature into play in response to stuff, some way to get a land into play in response to stuff (a different land from the animated land), and one heck of a Rube Goldberg timing diagram.
