    Rebel Taxes

This is another approach for a tribal deck that doesn't require brainstorming, and in this case - also chalice of the void.

The deck still needs to play some taxing effects in order to compete with what is in many cases, superior cards.
Thorn of Amethyst,Thalia, Guardian of Thraben are absolutely needed here.

To help power out thorn on turn 1 is ancient tomb. This also helps to pay for your rebel searching costs, which are at times a bit much mana for what they do.

Starting with my most recent list and Act10nMan (don't know if this person posts here) from reddit.

    2 Swords to Plowshares
    1 Big Game Hunter
    1 Bound in Silence
    3 Smuggler's Copter
    1 Umezawa's Jitte
    4 Thorn of Amethyst
    1 Sylvan Library
    1 Chrome Mox
    4 Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
    4 Mother of Runes
    2 Mirror Entity
    3 Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero
    4 Ramosian Sergeant
    4 Aether Vial
    1 Ramosian Lieutenant
    1 Amrou Scout
    1 Defiant Falcon
    1 Defiant Vanguard
    4 Wasteland
    4 Windswept Heath
    4 Ancient Tomb
    1 Savannah
    2 Plains
    2 Gaea's Cradle
    1 Dryad Arbor
    1 Karakas
    2 Cavern of Souls

    sideboard:

    1 Choke
    2 Ethersworn Canonist
    2 Disenchant
    3 Rest in Peace
    1 Children of Korlis
    2 Council's Judgment
    2 Swords to Plowshares
    2 Pithing Needle

    and action's list:

    4 Mother of Runes
    4 Ramosian Sergeant
    4 Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
    4 Stoneforge Mystic
    1 Ramosian Lieutenant
    1 Defiant Falcon
    1 Defiant Vanguard
    1 Game Keeper
    2 Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero
    1 Mirror Entity
    2 Swords to Plowshares
    4 Aether Vial
    2 Smuggler's Copter
    4 Thorn of Amethyst
    1 Batterskull
    1 Umezawa's Jitte
    2 Rishadan Port
    4 Wasteland
    4 Ancient Tomb
    2 Karakas
    4 Marsh Flats
    2 Scrubland
    5 Plains

    SIDEBOARD

    3 Thoughseize
    1 Pithing Needle
    3 Rest in Peace
    1 Worship
    2 Council's Judgment
    2 Swords to Plowshares
    1 Children of Korlis
    1 Containment Priest
1 Sword of Fire and Ice

i've only played close to 10 matches with the deck, i'm not sure how many action has. not sure if he/she noticed that containment priest is a bit of a non-bo with rebels, but maybe it's a compromise for the SNT matchups. (no clue)

there's a lot to play with here, but i think in the end you have to answer the question:

Why play this over something else like DNT/thalia stompy/eldrazi/etc.?

    A) you like tribal
    B) you like synergies
    C) you like stompy decks, but still like casting 1cc spells.
    D) you want to have a very grindy style deck
    E) you like to play decks where opponents are more likely to make mistakes due to lack of knowledge
    F) you like to have a lot of redundancy in your deck and don't want to play blue to get it.
    G) you are a bit nostalgic about decks
    H) you like brewing and want to put in time to make the deck better

    Why shouldn't you play this?

    A) you don't like creatures
    B) you don't like individual weak cards
    C) you hate shuffling
    D) you enjoy playing lists that are already well-tested and tweaked
    E) you love playing with brainstorm

This deck is still in its infant stage, so I don't have too much more info.

I've also considered running sphere of resistance, trinisphere, and to a lesser extent contamination, and nether void so that your cards can be fetched while the opponent is stuck playing overcosted cards.

would love to get some feedback and if anyone else is willing to do some testing.

i should also mention that my matches that i tested with were with a list without vials, which still felt fine. it is probably better with them though.

wondering if anyone thinks there's legs to adding the new wheel of fortune to this deck. being able to fetch children of korlis is pretty cool.

This deck looks fun, but not sure Wheel is what the deck needs.

Splashing another color for a combo just to draw 7 probably isn't worth it.

    Re: Rebel Taxes

    yea that's probably true :(

fyi to all, i've been having a lot of fun in premodern with thran turbine and it pairs really well with a lot of other cards besides rebels. (the main ones in premodern that i've been using are dust bowl and mishra's factories.)
