I'll rephrase - I'm glad Misdirection didn't stop Donate if that means Donate is gone forever.
I was hoping that Channel would survive until all of the good all-in turn 1 decks were gone so I could play Hickory Woodlot, Channel, Aetherflux Reservoir, Obelisk of Undoing
The Misdirection only working against spells with one target and Donate having two is correct. I missed that, like most of use.
Good for me, and especially good for the competition, as we indeed now lose this thorn in our competition.

ROUND 6 OF SEASON 12: VINTAGE CREATURELESS BANNATHON has started.
I have PM'ed myself my deck for round 6, so you can start sending me your decks.
DEADLINE: Wednesday the 11th of May at 11:00AM Central European Time.
(That's my time zone. Pacific Time it'll probably be something like Tuesday night a bit past midnight, so keep that in mind.)
PLEASE NOTE:
The way you send your deck to me matters. Please send it in the way described below, so it doesn't cost me an hour of editing before I can post all the decks.
Please send your deck as follows: Mountain, Plains, Forest, Shivan Gorge.
So with card tags around each card, and not above eachother, and with your Username and 4CB S12R06 in the topic.
Don't forget to keep an eye on the banned list. You'll find it in the second post of the thread, or in our Google Spreadsheet.
After the deadline has passed, I will post all decks on the forum here, and you can start puzzling out your scores.
If you have any questions, please read the first two posts of this thread first. If you can't find the answer there, drop a message here. We'll answer a.s.a.p.
Happy deckbuilding!

Me: 9. silkster: Hall of Storm Giants, Calciform Pools, Disrupting Shoal, Pact of Negation
1. Asthereal (TO): Island, Mana Crypt, Wistful Thinking, Donate WW
2. dte: Channel, Mox emerald, Karn liberated, Lair of the hydraWW
3. alphastryk: Island, Inkmoth Nexus, Misdirection, Sea's ClaimLL? DD?
You know, I was specifically planning to play Misdirection + Sea's Claim next week. I almost played it this week. But isn't Inkmoth banned?
4. Reeplcheep: Gemstone Caverns, Memory’s Journey, The Blackstaff of Waterdeep, Mox Sapphire WW
Ah, Gemstone Caverns + Memory's Journey to avoid full hand discard on turn 1. Though I'm not sure what you can afford to exile to still win.
5. GoblinSmashmaster: Crystal Vein, Mana Crypt, Karn, the Great Creator, Liquimetal Coating WW
6. RoosterCocoa: Swamp, Mox Pearl, Gerrard's Verdict, Dreadhorde Invasion WW
7. Phasmoid: Den of the Bugbear, Molten Slagheap, Cleansing Wildfire, Dreadbore LL
8. maxx!: Sea's Claim, Misdirection, Island, Blinkmoth Nexus LL
Hilariously, I'm cold to Island + Blinkmoth alone. I thought Celestial Colonnade would be more popular.
10. FTW: Mox Emerald, Blinkmoth Nexus, Isochron Scepter, Assassin's Trophy WW
12W, 2D, 4L = 38. No disagreements, it seems. :)
Anti-Mox tech worked very well. I was hoping that one of my matches would be super slow and I'd win from being able to attack while still holding up Pact of Negation by keeping 4 counters on the Pools.
I might be missing something, but I think you can use Trophy against maxx!. Interesting that the targeting restriction on Trophy hurts you in one match and helps in another.
Last edited by silkster; 05-09-2022 at 10:41 PM.
Good point. I noticed the targeting restriction only after determining the result against maxx! and alphastryk. Trophy cannot be Misdirected! WW
That gives me more points but not enough to change any bannings.
I thought for a minute I might beat you just by attacking with Blinkmoth, but of course I need a basic land for that...
Deadline has passed, and it looks like I'm only missing an entry from maxx!
I'll give you a few more hours while I do work stuff, and post decks when I get home tonight.

Sorry! Just sent it.
Excellent. Let's go!

3. Reeplcheep: Swamp, Davriel, rogue shadowmage, Dark Ritual, Dread Fugue
I thought it was time to play the bad inquisition of kozilek since most of the t1 stuff was gone. Lots of WL I assume.
1. Asthereal (TO): Blinkmoth Mexus, Mox Sapphire, Sea's Claim, Thorn of Amethyst
Take your mox WL 3-3
2. GoblinSmashmaster: Mox Ruby, Rite of Flame, Rite of Flame, Empty the Warrens
Take your mox WL 3-3
4. dte: Collective defiance, Mox ruby, Mox ruby, Hellion crucible
Take your mox WL 3-3
5. Phasmoid: Peat Bog, Hymn to Tourach, Remote Farm, Serra the Benevolent
I can davriel twice before you can cast Serra. WW 6-0
6. FTW: Mox Sapphire, Sunken Ruins, Hymn to Tourach, Ensoul Artifact
Take your mox WL 3-3
7. alphastryk: Lotus Bloom, Lotus Bloom, Barren Glory, Noxious Revival
Davriel chews through your hand WW 6-0
8. RoosterCocoa: Forest, Mox Ruby, Ranger Class, Sorcerous Spyglass
Take your mox WL 3-3
9. silkster: Blinkmoth Nexus, Mox Sapphire, Mox Ruby, Wheel of Fortune
You can operate on 1 mox. LL 0-6
10. maxx!: Blinkmoth Nexus, Sol Ring, Mox Ruby, Wheel of Fortune
Your threat is better than my threat LL 0-6
Idea was good. Threat was medium. 9 W 9 L perfectly balanced at 27/54
8. RoosterCocoa: Forest, Mox Ruby, Ranger Class, Sorcerous Spyglass
1. Asthereal (TO): Blinkmoth Mexus, Mox Sapphire, Sea's Claim, Thorn of Amethyst
OTP I play Ranger Class. If you Sea's Claim my Forest I then can play Spyglass naming Blinkmoth and win. If you play Thorn I level up Ranger Class, and win. OTD I can't play anything through your Thorn. WL
2. GoblinSmashmaster: Mox Ruby, Rite of Flame, Rite of Flame, Empty the Warrens
8 1/1s is too much for my 2/2. LL
3. Reeplcheep: Swamp, Davriel, rogue shadowmage, Dark Ritual, Dread Fugue
OTP you can't beat my 2/2, OTD you take my Mox and I can't do anything. WL
4. dte: Collective defiance, Mox ruby, Mox ruby, Hellion crucible
OTP I play Spyglass naming Hellion Crucible and we tie, OTD you make me discard my hand. DL
5. Phasmoid: Peat Bog, Hymn to Tourach, Remote Farm, Serra the Benevolent
OTP I get both Ranger Class and Spyglass naming Serra into play before you can Hymn, so I win. OTD Ranger Class by itself can't beat Serra, so I just play Spyglass naming Serra and we draw. WD
6. FTW: Mox Sapphire, Sunken Ruins, Hymn to Tourach, Ensoul Artifact
I'm just too slow to beat a 5/5, and Spyglass does nothing. LL
7. alphastryk: Lotus Bloom, Lotus Bloom, Barren Glory, Noxious Revival
I'm too slow to beat this. LL
9. silkster: Blinkmoth Nexus, Mox Sapphire, Mox Ruby, Wheel of Fortune
OTP Range Class beats Blinkmoth, OTD I have no cards. WL
10. maxx!: Blinkmoth Nexus, Sol Ring, Mox Ruby, Wheel of Fortune
OTP Range Class beats Blinkmoth, OTD I have no cards. WL
5W 2D 0L = 17
Real bad meta read this week.
Round T1 discard. I had the same idea than most, so a lot of 3-3.
1. Asthereal (TO): Blinkmoth Mexus, Mox Sapphire, Sea's Claim, Thorn of Amethyst
3-3. I can beat thorn and blinkmoth, or claim and blinkmoth, but not all together.
3
2. GoblinSmashmaster: Mox Ruby, Rite of Flame, Rite of Flame, Empty the Warrens
3-3. OTD, goblins smash!
6
3. Reeplcheep: Swamp, Davriel, rogue shadowmage, Dark Ritual, Dread Fugue
3-3. I can beat Davriel, but not fugue.
9
4. dte: Collective defiance, Mox ruby, Mox ruby, Hellion crucible
Me, playing T1 discard.
5. Phasmoid: Peat Bog, Hymn to Tourach, Remote Farm, Serra the Benevolent
6-0, a T2 deck.
15
6. FTW: Mox Sapphire, Sunken Ruins, Hymn to Tourach, Ensoul Artifact
3-3 mirror.
18
7. alphastryk: Lotus Bloom, Lotus Bloom, Barren Glory, Noxious Revival
6-0
24
8. RoosterCocoa: Forest, Mox Ruby, Ranger Class, Sorcerous Spyglass
4-1. Here a better threat than blinkmoth is relevant OTD.
28
9. silkster: Blinkmoth Nexus, Mox Sapphire, Mox Ruby, Wheel of Fortune
3-3 mirror.
31
10. maxx!: Blinkmoth Nexus, Sol Ring, Mox Ruby, Wheel of Fortune
3-3 mirror
34
Easy scoring :)
6. FTW: Mox Sapphire, Sunken Ruins, Hymn to Tourach, Ensoul Artifact
My 2nd choice for last week was Mox + Gerrard's Verdict + Ensoul Artifact. After seeing how well Gerrard's Verdict did, I regretted not playing this and had to play Scissors before all the Moxes got banned. I figured it would 3-3 the T1 decks and have a good chance at 6-0 against fair decks with the 5/5 beating most early threats.
1. Asthereal (TO): OTP Hymn stops Thorn. OTD Thorn stops me. WL 3-3
2. GoblinSmashmaster: OTP Hymn stops you. OTD 5/5 is too slow to stop 8 1/1s. WL 3-3
3. Reeplcheep: OTP I just play the scissors and race. OTD you discard my Mox. WL 3-3
4. dte: OTP I discard you, OTD you discard me. WL 3-3
5. Phasmoid: T1 Scissors is enough. OTD I can't T2 Hymn your Serra but if you make a 4/4, my 5/5 attacks Serra (killing Serra or 4/4), then my clock is still faster. WW 6-0
7. alphastryk: Noxious Revival can't stop Hymn. WW 6-0
8. RoosterCocoa: T1 Scissors at it again. WW 6-0
9. silkster: OTP I discard you and 5/5 beats Blinkmoth. OTD you discard me. WL 3-3
10. maxx!: OTP I discard you and 5/5 beats Blinkmoth. OTD you discard me. WL 3-3
36 points (12 wins, 6 loss)
If all the T1 discard decks score the same then we're banning a lot of cards this round!
Edit: Apparently I can win a lot of my matches just by playing T1 5/5. Am I discard or combo?
maxx!: Blinkmoth Nexus, Sol Ring, Mox Ruby, Wheel of Fortune
1. Asthereal (TO): Blinkmoth Mexus, Mox Sapphire, Sea's Claim, Thorn of Amethyst
OTP dump your hand. OTD I can slowly cast all my cards through Thorn, but not before you Claim my Blinkmoth and then I can't win. 3-3
2. GoblinSmashmaster: Mox Ruby, Rite of Flame, Rite of Flame, Empty the Warrens
Turn 1 decks trade wins. 3-3
3. Reeplcheep: Swamp, Davriel, rogue shadowmage, Dark Ritual, Dread Fugue
You can make me discard one (nonland) card when you're OTP, but no matter which one it is, I stick Blinkmoth and a mana source to activate it. Blinkmoth kills Davriel quickly, then you. 6-0
4. dte: Collective defiance, Mox ruby, Mox ruby, Hellion crucible
Wheel mirror. 3-3
5. Phasmoid: Peat Bog, Hymn to Tourach, Remote Farm, Serra the Benevolent
You can't ever cast anything before the Wheel. 6-0
6. FTW: Mox Sapphire, Sunken Ruins, Hymn to Tourach, Ensoul Artifact
OTP wheel wins. OTD you can Ensoul your Mox and I can't beat that. 3-3
7. alphastryk: Lotus Bloom, Lotus Bloom, Barren Glory, Noxious Revival
Noxious can't save you from WoF. 6-0
8. RoosterCocoa: Forest, Mox Ruby, Ranger Class, Sorcerous Spyglass
OTP I go off. OTD Ranger races Blinkmoth, and by leveling up to get the +1/+1 counter I can't even block to trade. 3-3
9. silkster: Blinkmoth Nexus, Mox Sapphire, Mox Ruby, Wheel of Fortune
Mirror. 3-3
10. maxx!: Blinkmoth Nexus, Sol Ring, Mox Ruby, Wheel of Fortune
This is me :]
3+3+6+3+6+3+6+3+3 = 36
I wasn't happy about Blinkmoth and would've played Hellion Crucible if I had found it (nice tech, dte), but it turns out that I got lucky being able to beat Dread Fugue with my list for a slightly higher score anyway. I expected a decent amount of similar decks (especially considering Ruby and Sapphire were the only moxes left, and all the good full hand discard spells are red and blue), but it still seemed too powerful to play anything else.
GoblinSmashmaster Results for Round "Goblin smash, then discard"
1. Asthereal (TO): Blinkmoth Mexus, Mox Sapphire, Sea's Claim, Thorn of Amethyst

2. GoblinSmashmaster: Mox Ruby, Rite of Flame, Rite of Flame, Empty the Warrens
That's me, finally on Goblins!
3. Reeplcheep: Swamp, Davriel, rogue shadowmage, Dark Ritual, Dread Fugue

5. Phasmoid: Peat Bog, Hymn to Tourach, Remote Farm, Serra the Benevolent
