I'm building a deck for an October tournament, definitely going to post a few lists here once I figure something out.

    Re: The Rock

I played last weekend, 25 players, 5 rounds, went 2-3, had an absolute blast! This format is amazing and really balanced so far.

I wasn't able to get another Birds of Paradise so I ended up using Llanowar Elves, it was mostly ok. Big changes made after dipping my toes into the format.

    My tournament list:

    2x Birds of Paradise
    4x Llanowar Elves
    4x hypnotic specter
    4x ravenous baloth
    4x Blastoderm
    2x spiritmonger
    2x yavimaya elder
    4x Duress
    2x Vendetta
    2x smother
    2x Sylvan library
    3x pernicious deed
    1x rancor
    1x life/death
    4x llanowar wastes
    4x treetop village
    1x gemstone mine
    2x wasteland
    6x swamp
    6x forest

    Sideboard
    2x choke
    2x cabal therapy
    3x tormod's crypt
    2x naturalize
    4x engineered plague
    2x Diabolic edict

A few initial observations: Sylvan library isn't as good as I thought, and neither is Spiritmonger. I have since mined quite a bit of info on lists, as well as talking with the 3 other players on the deck for the tournament! It's pretty popular, even considered tier 1. From what I understand, Waking Nightmare is absolutely busted with Blastoderm and Baloth recursion. So I'll be getting some copies for future use. Until i locate some, this will be my working list:

    3x Birds of Paradise
    2x llanowar elves
    4x wall of blossoms
    3x mesmeric fiend
    2x yavimaya elder
    4x ravenous baloth
    3x Blastoderm
    1x Spiritmonger
    3x duress
    3x cabal therapy
    2x Vendetta
    2x smother
    3x pernicious deed
    2x rancor
    4x llanowar wastes
    4x treetop village
    1x gemstone mine
    7x forest
    7x swamp

    Sideboard
    3x tormod's crypt
    2x Sylvan library
    4x engineered plague
    1x infest
    3x naturalize
    2x choke

Future changes will include Recurring Nightmare x2 (cutting the rancors) and cutting Spiritmonger x1 + 1 other card for a pair of Deranged Hermit, which is one of the best threats in the format.

    Cheers!
