    Draco Stompy

Haven't posted on this site in forever. I usually keep my brews to myself these days, but this one is really funky and not one of my try hard lists that I'd rather keep under wraps, so I decided to post it.

This is still just a brew, so it's in no way fine tuned. It also was inspired by a decklist I saw on mtgtop8 from someone named Robm18, so credit where credit is due.

    UWGR/b Draco Stompy
    (AKA Domain Stompy)

    Lands (16)
    4 Ancient Tomb
    3 Flooded Strand
    3 Misty Rainforest
    1 Tundra
    1 Tropical Island
    1 Volcanic Island
    1 Savannah
    1 Xander's Lounge
    1 Indatha Triome

    Creatures (16)
    4 Chrome Host Seedshark
    4 Broadside Bombardiers
    4 Solitude
    4 Scion of Draco

    Spells (28)
    4 Brainstorm
    4 Lorien Revealed
    4 Force of Will
    4 Up the Beanstalk
    4 Leyline Binding
    4 Leyline of the Guildpact
    4 Chrome Mox

This deck is a hybrid of a 4/5c midrange control Beanstalk deck and a Stompy deck.

Leyline of the Guildpact enables the most broken start of turn 1 Ancient Tomb or Chrome Mox into Scion, turn 2 Bombardiers, lethal you for 20.

Chrome Host fits beautifully because it has a Stompy cost, is blue for Force of Will blue count, makes artifact tokens for Bombardiers, and makes relatively big tokens due to Lorien, Leyline Binding, and Force of Will.

Solitude works great with Beans and Bombardiers. The white count is a bit low, but being relatively hardcastable makes up for it.

Brainstorm is supported with fetches + Lorien. Lorien is frequently hardcastable because of Ancient Tomb and Chrome Mox. Between Lorien and Beanstalk, the deck has an incredibly powerful card advantage engine if it needs to grind into the midgame.

I don't really think the Beanstalk engine should need explaining, same with Leyline Binding, Force of Will, etc.

I realize that running both the Stompy mana (Ancient Tomb and Chrome Mox) alongside a 5 color Domain manabase is super greedy, but it does actually work. I would run an Island in the sideboard for Moon Stompy and recurring Wasteland matches (like Lands).

    Enjoy.

I've been cramming leylinescion into a bunch of decks with mild success. I don't know how the modern players pull it off so reliably. Better shufflers, i guess.

The probability is low, especially to get T1 Tomb too.

The successful Legacy builds have a backup plan that doesn't rely on Leyline: get 5 basic land types by turn 2 (Triome + Dual). They have 18 lands for domain vs 12 though, so they have an easier time executing the backup plan.

Maybe this build just needs to lean on the 2R & 2U threats for hands with Tomb and no Leyline?
