    Gale question

Does Gale, Waterdeep Prodigy's ability allow him to cast sorceries during combat or during an opponent's turn ?

    Yes.
Think about it: if he made you obey the timing on sorceries, his ability would never work, since the instant you cast from hand would still be on the stack when the trigger resolved

The rule of thumb I use to remember on timing restrictions is this:

If a spell or ability tells you to just cast a card then it'll break timing, your Sorcery is cast in combat or whatever nontypical gamestate.

If a spell or ability gives you a window or duration to cast a spell, until end of turn you may cast that card, then normal timing restrictions will still apply.

No duration, cast it as part of the effect
    Duration specified, follow normal timing
