Thread: TML Open 3 - Stratford, CT. - Nov 3, 4 2007

    Re: TML Open 3 - Stratford, CT. - Nov 3, 4 2007

Wasn't states like last weekend? I think a lot of people who might have travelled 4-6 hours didn't want to do it two weekends in a row.

regardless, both tourneys were big enough for DTB purposes. I just hope Ray didn't lose any(too much? :-/) money and that he'll do this again.

Well at least half those decks had goyf in them :

    Goyf Sligh
    Goyf Sligh
    Cephalid Breakfist
    Black Thresh

Maybe Goblins also had it as I hear those versions are pretty good.

I'm sure the Survival also had Goyfs.

Where can we expect to find the decklists, and when? I think we're all interested...

    Truth.

I think it might have something to do with the fact that everyone scheduled big events within months of each other.

What I envision happening is scaled down monthly events (equivalent to vintage power tournaments), with maybe 3-4 50+ turnout events per year.

Or people being less inclined to spend money on Magic-related expenditures with the holidays rolling around...
Early one morning while making the round,
    I took a shot of cocaine and I shot my woman down;
I went right home and I went to bed,
I stuck that lovin' .44 beneath my head.

Legacy is not dying, and stop saying it is or else we may have a self-fulfilling prophecy on our hands...Doubtful that idiots who think legacy is dying would have such an influence though.

    Re: TML Open 3 - Stratford, CT. - Nov 3, 4 2007

Fair enough. I'm going to clarify some things. I'm on the way back now. So, in top 8 we had:

    Machinus: Black Threshold
    vs.
    Krieger: Cephalid Breakfast
    (Machinus wins)
    Ewokslayer: Survival
    vs.
    Watcher487: Goyf Sligh
    (Ewokslayer wins)
    Gekoratel: Goblins
    vs.
    Sacearuse: Goyf Sligh
    (Gekoratel wins)
    Zac Ryder: Rakdos
    vs.
    Anji (SP?): Hanni Fish
    (Anji wins)

    Top 4
    Gekoratel vs Machinus
    Ewokslayer vs Anji

    Top 2
    Ewokslayer vs Machinus (split)

The Rakdos deck had cards in some numbers of the following:
    Chrome Mox
    Lightning Bolt
    Rakdos Augermage
    Rakdos Guildmage
    Hypnotic Specter
    Withered Wretch
    Headhunter
    Hymn to Tourach
    Terminate
    Dark Ritual

That's all I remember. Also, there were 48 players on Day 2. I know it's not a lot, but you get whatever you get. On another note, I am still the trivia master. Are there other lists that you want? I was there playing deck of secret-osity, and I'll answer questions as I see them.

Whatever, you fucking monkeystomped me in the side event. You acknowledged that that means less teaming up. Seriously, you beat the shit out of me, then expect me to team up with you for Scattergories? Seriously man, be real. It's not like I hate you or anything, you're still a great guy. Also, did you get back your collateral from Alix for borrowing his Tabernacle? He asked me to bring that up.

I'd love to see Machinus' list.

Also, congrats to Ewokslayer, Gekoratel and everyone else who T8'd.

No he still has my two volcs I already pmed him though It's not a big deal. I'm just joking about the dead to me thing but that comment was a little harsh. "But my deck is good and you deck is terrible.."

I can say with reasonable certainty that they don't want to release it. However, I'll tell you that they will be posted in some amount of time. I know that somebody WILL be posting the decklists, I just don't know who. I know that Ray said something about releasing a breakdown of archetypes for when he wrote his tournament report so I assume that would also include top8 decklists.

EDIT: @Forceofwill: You're right, that was an overreaction, I was just angry that I lost. I know you're joking, it's cool. You're a great guy, don't even worry about it.

    Re: TML Open 3 - Stratford, CT. - Nov 3, 4 2007

This tourny was a blast, I got to see the Virginia and Syracuse crews and met some new faces. These events are always awesome and more people should try to make the trip in the future, Ray does a really good job running them. It was fun getting wrecked by Turn 1 Arc-Sloggers and getting outplayed by black Thresh.

    For anyone that's interested here's the list of Goblin's I ran to 7-8th place D1 and 3rd D2.

    8 Fetches
    4 Mountain
    2 Taiga
    2 Badland
    3 Rishadan Port
    4 Wasteland
    4 Vial
    4 Lackey
    4 Fanatic
    4 Piledriver
    1 Tin-Street
    3 Gempalm
    4 Warchief
    4 Matron
    4 Ringleader
    2 Wort
    3 Siege-Gang

    Sideboard

    4 Leyline of the Void
    4 Therapies
    3 Krosan Grip
    3 Pyrokinesis
    1 Goblin Sharpshooter

The deck ran pretty well for me, the addition of Wort is pretty awesome but does make the deck a little more top heavy which is a small downside. I definitely think the double splash is the way to go since there aren't enough Wastelands in the format to really punish you for it. The Therapies were very marginal and need to replaced with something better I'm thinking Thorn of the Amethyst but I'd need to test it out to see if it's worth it.

Once again it was good to see the familiar faces and I enjoyed meeting some new people as well.
