I played what I think is the only copy of Eternal Garden present at the tournament, and I ended up going 3-3. However, I had nut low tiebreakers and got paired down twice, having to play slowass decks that had drawn (fuck you Landstill) meaning that it was really all about game one. And I got a little bit unlucky in that he got Waste-lock at the exact turn he had to to get me in a poor position :/ The meta seemed random as hell, I really can't make any sense about it: Goblins seemed to exist more than we expected, Threshold was everywhere as expected, but like Nightmare was saying, the respective Thresh decks hated each other out. What a random top 8. We'll see what happens for day 2.

I do not condone of multicolour Tomb Aggro-decks...although it might just be Angel Stompy/G.
A friend of mine was playing the GW Tomb concoction, and considering it had both Angel and Witness I imagine the manabase was at least somewhat split down the middle. I don't know the specifics though, other than that he played some really weird cards (Crib Swap?).
I played against him. Really nice guy, but I was getting the shittiest topdecks all day so I wasn't in a great mood.
He was playing Hierarch, Mother of Runes, Witness, Angel, Ancient Tomb, Silver Knight, StP, Disenchant, Sword of Fire and Ice, Sword of Light and Shadow (not sure how many). It had a powerful midgame, but it looked like it would flatout lose to combo. However, I didn't see any combo other than Ichorid all day.
I brought WGu Survival and I can't remember the last time I scrubbed out so hard. The meta felt wrong, but it might have just been because of my poor start. I played Goblins, RG Dryad/Goyf Sligh, Goblins, Angel Stompy/g, and the Eternal Garden. I was 1-1-1 at the time of the side event and felt like I was still in contention, so I stayed in. Then I lost to the WG deck, but stayed in because I had nothing else to do (didn't stay for day 2) and wanted to keep my rating from dropping too much. Unfortunately I got paired with Ebinsugewa 5th round, and we would have drawn, but I agreed to concede because he still had a chance to t16. 1-3-1 is so much uglier than 0-2 drop.
If it's any consolation, I went 0-2 drop AND lost in the first round of the side event, so hardly my best day ever. Then again, I was running Ur Phid so I guess I was asking to get screwed in one way or another.
At any rate, I played against Mono-Red Chalice Aggro (Parcher, who split in the finals) where game 1 was sort of a back and forth affair until he had a threat I couldn't deal with. Game 2 I dragged us both into the late game and totally shut him down eventually killing him with triple Fire to the face (he had taken a ton of tomb damage). Game 3 he had a nuts draw and I didn't have enough to hold him off, although a stupid play mistake didn't help.
I then got paired against UGw thresh, won game 1, lost games 2 and 3 to stupidly horrible draws and my own inability to stay focused. The side event was even worse, because I got paired against Ichorid and got comboed easily on turn 2/3 both games.
Still it was fun getting to meet some of the VA guys (Gearheart, Alix Hatfield, and Jon Rusecki, whose name I'm sure I butchered, in particular) and having a laugh over how weird the metagame and tournament in general was. Hopefully everyone will have more luck today than they did yesterday.
I think this just proves there is still a tone of room in the environment. At looking at this list I don't feel like it's all scrub decks. I feel like we don't know as much about magic as we think. There is still a TON of enovation in the format. It's not even close to being the most optimal.

I'm actually really interested to see the mono red chalice/slogger deck. I was brainstorming the idea to myself a couple weeks ago, but never thought seriously about it.
Any info on day2? It cant be more dissappointing than day1 so Im really curious.

Too lazy to post.
I like these results. People may be shocked and I am a little, but at least it proves that aggro is not shit like evryone thinks. You don't need 12 counters, cantrips, and Goyf to be succesful. At least combo and Thresh haven't taken over.
Wow... the turnout for both days was fucking awful. I mean, I didn't expect the Day 2 attendence to be as high as Day 1, but holy fuck 38 people? Is Legacy that unpopular all of a sudden? Or was the weekend just inconvinient for the more casual players who would usually show up to this thing?
