Just came in 3rd out of 27 at Alternate Universes with Ubw Dreadstill. List identical to RicoSuave's a page back, minus a factory for a second EE. Kudos to you Brad, it ran like a charm.
Okay with Survival Banned, I am going to be cutting black from Dreadstill as there is no longer a need for Extirpate and with the surge that zoo will once again have, Dark Confidant will get worse. I think I'm going to play Urw Dreadstill assuming the meta shifts to C/T, Fish, Zoo, Storm, Goblins as the major decks.
I'm currently testing something like this:
// Lands
4 [B] Island (2)
4 [AQ] Mishra's Factory (2)
3 [ON] Polluted Delta
3 [ON] Flooded Strand
3 [TE] Wasteland
2 [B] Tundra
2 [B] Volcanic Island
// Creatures
4 [MI] Phyrexian Dreadnought
3 [FD] Trinket Mage
// Spells
4 [AL] Force of Will
4 [MM] Brainstorm
4 [SC] Stifle
4 [DIS] Spell Snare
3 [CS] Counterbalance
3 [NEM] Daze
3 [CK] Sensei's Divining Top
3 [OD] Standstill
2 [TSP] Trickbind
1 [FD] Engineered Explosives
1 [WWK] Jace, the Mind Sculptor
// Sideboard
SB: 3 [ZEN] Spell Pierce
SB: 3 [B] Swords to Plowshares
SB: 2 [SHM] Firespout
SB: 1 [FD] Engineered Explosives
SB: 1 [WWK] Jace, the Mind Sculptor
SB: 1 [FD] Crucible of Worlds
SB: 1 [TO] Llawan, Cephalid Empress
SB: 1 [SK] Pithing Needle
SB: 1 [OV] Pyroblast
SB: 1 [B] Red Elemental Blast
Remember that the current Ubw build of Dreadstill was designed before the Survival decks became popular. There is no reason that Survival being banned will affect the choice of color. It is better to wait and see what new decks emerge before starting to change the deck radically.
What is the general consensus on Jace, the Mind Sculptor at this point? Zoo, Fish and Goblins are sure to make an insurgence with Survival gone, but is Jace still too slow for that kind of meta? What about if you pack Peacekeeper in the 'board?
imo, Jace the Mind Sculptor is the single most powerful card in our legacy format.
This is the final version of a URB Dreadstill list that me and my teammate Emiliano used from October 2010.
I attended 3 torunaments with this deck: I got 1° on 34 in the first one, 9° for rating (senseless, I was the highest in rating but one of my opponents decided to drop just before round 7...) on 106 in the second one and 10° on 76 in the third one, while Emiliano attended four torunaments and got 4° on 100 with a perfect 7-0-0 in the first one and 3° on 106 in the tournament I went 9°.
Previous versions of the list played Lightning Bolt maindeck and no Trinket Mages. We alays played 3 Brainstorm, which is the point generally insulted by others. So, here's the list:
Lands:
4 Wasteland
4 Scalding Tarn
1 Misty Rainforest
1 Polluted Delta
1 Flooded Strand
3 Underground Sea
3 Volcanic Island
1 Badland
2 Island
Creatures
3 Grim Lavamancer
3 Phyrexian Dreadnought
3 Dark Confidant
2 Trinket Mage
Spells
4 Force of Will
3 Spell snare
3 Daze
4 Stifle
1 Trickbind
3 Counterbalance
3 Sensei's Divining Top
3 Brainstorm
2 Predict
2 Jace, the Mind Sculptor
1 Engineered Explosives
Sideboard
1 Nature's Ruin
1 Perish
2 Firespout
2 Arc Trail
2 Red Elemental Blast
2 Spell Pierce
1 Pithing Needle
1 Basilisk Collar
1 Relic of Progenitus
1 Tormod's Crypt
1 Nihil Spellbomb
Interesting list Morgothian - I might have to give it a go. Something neesds to change (probably my playskill with this deck) as I just BOMBED out hard of a local 14-man event. Took Rodney's Urg list card-for-card as I had access to those duals. I'd love any thoughts because I want to improve with this deck. During testing it was really solid but for some reason it all came apart on the day. Anyways.
R1 - Zoo (0-2)
G1: We go and and forth a little but my Dreadnought eats a Swords. He whittles me down again but I have a 2nd Dreadnought (on 8 life). He triple Bolts me ftw.
G2: Explosives and Firespout shenanigans, eventually get a Nought (with Force in hand) while he has one card. He draws a path and his other card was StP, I die shortly after. Despite a lot of digging/brainstorming/fetching I didn't see a Counterbalance in these games (all day really). Although to be fair he didn't see a Pridemage either.
R2 - Team America (1-2)
G1: Power out a Dreadnought and we fight a counter war, his 2nd Snuff Out getting there with huge Goyfs to win from there.
G2: I had a possible T2 Dreadnought but also land+factory+standstill. I wasn't sure what was the right play here. I decided to bait for counters so played Stanstill. We sit under it for awhile and he eventualy breaks it on my discard step with V-Clique. Again I wasn't sure the play here, I did have 2 X Dreadnought and 2 x Stifle. After drawing 3 I Force the Clique. His turn he casts 3 Hymn to Tourarch leaving with me 1 card! Goyfs clean up again.
R3 - Dragon Stompy (0-2)
G1: Turn 1 3Sphere (on the play) into Moon into Rakdos and I can't do anything.
G2: Chalice @ 1 and Pithing Needle on Explosives cut me off.
R4: Sneak Show (1-2)
G1: Have early Dreadnought with Force but he has two Forces.
G2: Dreadnought gets there and I have enough countermagic for his shenanigans.
G3: Dreadnought gets bounced to hand while Emrakul bashes face.
R5: Dark Horizons (0-2)
Don't remember a lot of these. G1 I had two early Dreadnoughts but he had 1 Maze of Ith and chumped the other with big KotR's. Bob gave him the cards to find the answer to my 2nd Nought.
All day I barely saw a CB. I felt whenever I got the Nought out he was way too vulnerable and I had no back up plan as so much removals hit him and I have no backup plan of note (factories don't get there when there are Goyfs running around).
I'd be interested in testing lists with CB & Standstill in the board (or dropping Standstill/Factory altogether) for something with more threats like Goyfs and Bobs. I know others have had solid success with the list though so its probably a combination of me being noob/some bad beats/bad meta for the list.
Cheers for listening anyways.

I got this idea, I has probably been explored before, but I wasn't so keen on browsing 100+ pages to see if it was mentioned.
The idea was to get an Emrakul under Mosswort bridge and cast nought and activate the land when then nought trigger is on the stack. You get the emrakul plus the extra turn. Could possibly splash green for Sylvan Scrying and Worldly Tutor
Sure wasteland would suck, but the deck already packs stifle+trickbind.
Happy Newyear :)
EDIT: Thanks lorddotm

Hi, ive been testing this deck the last days with some good results, anyway, i think it cares something, by the other hand, it has answers against anything in any case, hope your comments could help me to improve it, thx

I really like the idea of the grindstone combo. I like it because it allows to win in 1 turn, doesn't die to as much removal, and doesn't worry about racing other creatures. I'm going to test this idea. I really feel wasteland and stifle is going to be very good post survival
1 Nought is far too few. 1 SDT is also far too few and 4 Counterbalance is way too high. The Counter/Top ratio should be at least 3/2, respectively. Your whole deck seems to fold to Fish, so get a couple Llawan in your board ASAP. This also isn't really Dreadstill at all. More so just GrindNought.
Hi all, need some help with my list. During testing I found the mana base to be somewhat temperamental. Perhaps some of the more experienced players can shed some light. I'm not certain if I'm running enough fetches / basics / duals to accommodate to the fling / shrapnel combo, or maybe there's something else I should be adjusting?..
I was also considering the addition of Aether Vial but I'm half-hearted on that and it seems more silly than useful, maybe a green splash for goyf would do the deck some good?

I was thinking about picking up this deck against the above meta. What do you guys think of my first draft?

Is my manabase stable enough?
Should I run Jace or increase my Spell Pierce/Standstill count?
Is my sideboard okay against my meta?
Is this even the right deck to run in my meta?
Thanks in advance!
I think it's a great choice with so much dredge and combo in your meta. Those matchups are byes unless they get the god hand and you mull like crazy. The red splash will help a lot vs merfolk/goblins and landstill, too.
I know with White you gain Peacekeeper and Swords/Path, but how have you guys found Peacekeeper? It can get bounced, Siege Ganged, etc. I'm wondering how you find the Peacekeeper/Swords additions versus the Firespout option for the board. I'm going back and forth between UBR or UBW Dreadstill. I'm loving the Confidants in the main, as well as sideboarded Extirpates and Perish.
I'm just wondering if Peacekeeper is working out, and how you're utilizing it. I'm assuming you're either Jaceing them out with Peacekeeper on board, or failing to pay, attacking with Dreadnought, then laying another Peacekeeper. Just wondering what the whole plan is.
-Matt
I've been going back and forth as well. It's really a decision between Swords and Peacekeeper, or Firespout and Bolt/Lavamancer. Unless you're going straight U/R w/ Blood Moon, I don't see any reason not to splash black currently. Perish is essential with Knight of the Reliquary seeing so much play.
