The river gives you exactly the 3 damages needed.
Sorry for the scare!
I definitely miss stuff pretty frequently. I remember one round years ago when I did my scores first and had something like 5.8 round points and then someone was like "isn't Grist banned?". I also remember missing the line of Pemmin's Aura on their own Life of the Party token to untap and block. The worst part of that mistake is that I could easily have played Intervene instead of Avoid Fate to avoid it. I've missed at least one illegal deck this season (and I've had a few false positives, which I think isn't as bad, or at least doesn't feel as bad). But this is also why I did the "drop 2 scores" thing, so that a mistake like this isn't crippling to the whole season.

Instead it seems quite far from it.
It's funny, almost none of the lists I was thinking about cared about magus or Evil Presence, so I didn't think about them at all, figuring that they'd be terrible, but I ended up on a deck that would lose to that type of thing anyway (well, not Evil Presence specifically).

Portable Hole is a cool idea that I didn't think of at all because a few of my early decks had suspend creatures. It did feel disappointing that the one-mana suspend creatures have either a 9-turn clock, which is too fast, or a 12-turn clock, which is a bit slow, so I'm maybe not surprised that no one played any.
